Latest Duke Chronicle Profile: Drew Scharnowski
NASHVILLE, TN - NOVEMBER 19: Belmont Bruins forward Drew Scharnowski (11) bounces a dunk attempt off the rim during a game between the Belmont Bruins and Lipscomb Bisons, November 19, 2025, at the Curb Event Center in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Matthew Maxey/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesThe Duke Chronicle has its first profile of a new mens basketball player up, and its of Belmont transfer Drew Scharnowski. Chronicle sports writer Ryan Hamner makes the obvious comparison to Maliq Brown, and to be sure, Scharnowski will take on some of his responsibilities. But they are not the same players. Brown is a defensive savant. Scharnowski is an excellent defender, but hes probably a more well-rounded player. At 6-10 and 240 pounds, hes also a good bit stronger than Brown is, too. Like Brown, Scharnowski is an excellent passer, but physically, hes more dynamic. As Jon Rothstein said in the video we linked Monday, Scharnowski is making a huge impression on the coaching staff, and apparently exceeding expectations. Depth is going to be one of Dukes major strengths this season, and it may be even better than expected. Go to the DBR Boardsto find Blue Healer Auctions||Drop us a line

Micah Parsons gives Packers organization, new facilities his approval
At this time last year, Micah Parsons was still in Dallas and going through a very public contract dispute with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys that ended with a stunning trade.Fast forward 11 months, and Parsons is about to enter his second season with the Green Bay Packers, though it likely wont begin for him until October as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL.Injury notwithstanding, Parsons couldnt be happier with where hes at these days.Grateful to be a part of this organization, the 27-year-old wrote on X earlier this week ahead of the start of the Packers 2026 training camp.Unfortunately for Parsons, he wont be participating in the training camp practices due to his injury. He was officially placed on the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday, July 28.But even though he wont be an active participant on the field, expect Parsons to spend plenty of time around Lambeau Field. As part of his praise for the Packers organization on social media, the All-Pro defensive end also gave the teams facilities his full stamp of approval.Packers new facilities are (expletive) nuts!! Parsons wrote.Thats high remarks from Parsons knowing he spent four years in Dallas where no expense is spared at the $1 billion AT&T Stadium, also known as Jerrys World. Before he suffered the season-ending injury in the Packers Week 15 game in Denver, Parsons became the first player in NFL history to have 12 or more sacks in each of his first five seasons.Parsons finished with 12.5 sacks last season, and despite missing the final three-plus games, he earned his fifth Pro Bowl and fourth All-Pro recognition.Micah Parsons injuryHeres the moment Parsons was injured on Dec. 14 in Denver: This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Micah Parsons gives Packers organization, new facilities his approval

Arsenal accept defeat in pursuit of Real Madrid superstar: ‘He is going to renew’
Arsenal accept defeat in pursuit of Real Madrid superstar: He is going to renewAccording to MARCA, Arsenal have accepted that a move for Vinicius Jr. is no longer realistic, with the Premier League club now convinced that the Brazilian will remain at Real Madrid and sign a new contract.Real Madrids activity in the transfer market has continued to dominate headlines following the imminent arrival of Yan Diomande and the clubs official contacts with Rodri over a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu.Against that backdrop, Arsenal had been preparing an ambitious move for Vinicius after missing out on Morgan Rogers. With funds still available, Mikel Artetas side had been ready to submit a major offer for the Brazilian winger.Contract uncertainty sparked hopeVinicius contract renewal has become one of Real Madrids longest-running transfer stories, stretching into a second consecutive summer. The Brazilian has yet to sign a new deal, with his wage demands, believed to be close to 30 million per season, slowing negotiations.Arsenal showed interest in Vinicius. (Photo by Dan Mullan/Getty Images)However, time is becoming increasingly limited. His current contract expires next summer, leaving Real Madrid with three possible outcomes: agree a renewal, sell the player, or risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of his contract, a scenario both parties are keen to avoid. This opened the door for Arsenal to consider making a move for the 26-year-old winger.Arsenal give upDespite the uncertainty surrounding the contract negotiations, Arsenal now believe Vinicius will remain at Real Madrid.According to the report, figures within the London club are convinced that the winger will extend his contract. He is going to renew, is the consistent message coming from Arsenal when asked about the possibility of making an offer for the Brazilian. While the club will continue to monitor the situation, they have effectively abandoned hopes of signing him this summer.Renewal in sight. (Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images)The report also notes that Vinicius has given no public indication that he wants to leave Real Madrid. Unlike Julian Alvarez, who openly expressed his desire to leave Atletico Madrid during the World Cup, the Brazilian has made no public statements, social media posts or gestures suggesting that he is seeking an exit.Arsenal turn attention to other targetsWith Vinicius now considered unattainable, Arsenal are expected to focus on signing another high-profile wide attacker. The future of Gabriel Martinelli remains uncertain, while Bradley Barcola is another player under consideration, although Liverpool are also competing for the PSG winger. For now, Vinicius has become little more than an unrealised summer ambition for the North London club, who increasingly expect the Brazilians future to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
