Chiefs HC Andy Reid says Mia Bieniemy is no longer in the ICU, 'making progress' following shooting
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with the media at training camp on Wednesday. While the questions were largely about the team, he did provide an update on Mia Bieniemy, who was the victim of a shooting last weekend. Reid said that she is no longer in the ICU and that "she's doing great, better than she was. Making progress, so we're happy about that."The head coach confirmed that offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, husband of Mia, remains away from the team and in Virginia alongside his wife as she recovers. "Eric's a big part of this. (We) love having him here. But right now, it's important that he takes care of business. And everybody knows that. So everybody's game is picked up and they're all working hard. Eric will be back soon enough to jump in there and do his thing."Mia was shot on Sunday morning at the couple's home in Virginia. Eric was at training camp when the incident occurred. Details are still being released, but their son Elijah (27) has been taken into custody and charged with three felonies. A new video showed police carrying Mia away from the home so that she could get medical attention. The video also showed the responding officers putting cuffs on Elijah and taking him into custody. Eric is in his first season back with the Chiefs. He was Kansas City's OC from 2018 to 2022, helping the team win Super Bowl LIV and LVII.

Welsh Rugby Union confirms Ospreys or Scarlets will become defunct
The Welsh Rugby Union has confirmed it will cut one of its four mens professional teams from the 2028-29 season, with Scarlets and Ospreys set to fight it out to survive. The WRU says one of its teams will be based in the capital Cardiff, one in the west and the east.It means one of the two regions in the west, Scarlets or Ospreys, will be defunct, with Cardiff and Dragons offered the respective capital and east licences."The WRU board has examined in detail a range of factors when determining the three future licence areas and has confirmed that only incumbent teams will be considered eligible for a licence," a WRU statement said. The licensing framework and the licence award process will begin in December 2026 and conclude by the end of the 2026-27 season at the latest.Professional Rugby Board chair Marianne Okland said: This will allow an orderly implementation and avoid prolonged uncertainty for clubs, players, supporters, investors and sponsors."Assuming that Cardiff Rugby and Dragons RFC want to sign up to the proposed licensing terms, there is now certainty that they will be offered the capital and east licences respectively."We understand that there will be ongoing uncertainty until a final decision on the west licence is made."That is why we are committed to progressing in a collaborative way, whilst not underestimating the considerable challenges ahead, and providing stability for all at the earliest opportunity."

Who Takes Over For Alex Bowman In 2028? One Obvious Fit Awaits
Hendrick Motorsports certainly has time to wait to name its driver of the No. 48 car for 2028. But it might not want to wait. It might want to get that driver off the market. Connor Zilisch has had an awful rookie year with now eight races where he didnt finish. He most likely will be eliminated from Chase contention after next weeks race at Iowa. But lets not forget that he won 10 OReilly Series races last year. And that he has won in other series in dominating fashion. He is learning the Cup car, and once he learns it, he will pile up the trophies. That's assuming he learns it. Zilischs contact is up at Trackhouse Racing next year. So it would be natural for Hendrick to snag him. He's been the can't-miss prospect, although 23XI up-and-ocming star Corey Heim's two victories this year indicate maybe he should have been topped of that type of list. Trackhouse also has contracts expiring for Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen. Would Hendrick give either of those a shot? It appears Hendrick is looking for a young driver that could race for the organization for another 10 or 20 years once Alex Bowman retires from the No. 48 car after the 2027 season. And Hendrick has a young driver in its stable in Corey Day, a 20-year-old sprint-car driver who has been championed by Kyle Larson as the next great racer. Day has two OReilly wins for Hendrick (at Talladega and Dover earlier this year) and already has clinched a spot in the postseason with a couple of races remaining. Compared to Zilischs year a season ago, Day hasnt matched it by a long shot. But Day also had less stock-car experience than Zilisch (who also is 20 years old) and it typically takes sprint-car drivers a little more time to adapt to full-body stock cars. He is making steady improvement. Hes not ready for Cup just yet. But in nine months, he could be. Will he get that chance at Hendrick? Its debatable. Zilisch appears to be the guy and Hendrick doesnt like to mess around to allow for second thoughts from a driver or for another team to pluck away the driver the organization has in its sights. So what happens to Day if Zilisch signs with Hendrick? Does that mean he goes to Spire for a season or two? Its certainly possible considering the Hendrick-Spire alliance. Hendrick, though, doesnt love building up talent so they can race somewhere else. But what it hates more is losing out on signing a top driver to another team. And while Zilisch hasnt looked like the cant-miss prospect he was a year ago, he still looks like a driver with speed and a ton of potential. That likely will be enough for Hendrick. In Second Thoughts, Bob Pockrass offers his opinion on a burning motorsports topic.

Cincinnati Bengals Over/Under Win Total: Will Healthy Burrow Equal Wins?
Ever since that Super Bowl run in 2021, Bengals fans have been yearning for their team to get another crack at the Lombardi Trophy. However, Cincy has only made one playoff appearance since then. Is 2026 the year it rights the ship? Let's check out the Bengals' Over/Under win total odds for the 2026 season. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Cincinnati Bengals Over 10.5: +115 (bet $10 to win $21.50 total)Under 10.5: -140 (bet $10 to win $17.14 total) What to know: The Bengals won just six games in 2025, but that was largely because Joe Burrow missed nine games while they also fielded one of the worst defenses in the NFL. However, Cincinnati made several major additions this offseason, including Dexter Lawrence II and Boye Mafe, among other moves. Combining the roster additions with the third-easiest schedule in the league, the Bengals are expected to take a major step forward in 2026. Much of the Bengals' success, however, still comes down to Burrow's heatlh. They have finished above .500 in each of the three seasons that he has played at least 16 games (10-6, 12-4 and 9-8), and Cincy is 5-2 in the playoffs in two seasons with Burrow under center. Last season, in eight games with Burrow healthy, the Bengals were 5-3, and he had 17 touchdowns to just five interceptions. However, he missed the other nine games for Cincinnati. Coming into this season, Burrow is the +850 third choice to win NFL MVP. Odds: This upcoming season, Cincinnati is the +184 second choice to win the AFC North, the +1025 eight choice to win the AFC and the +2000 14th choice to win the Super Bowl.

Claressa Shields blasts Jake Paul over MVP ban: 'I can go to any boxing event I want to go to'
Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions announced this past May that Claressa Shields had been banned from its events after her altercation with the MVP-promoted Alycia Baumgardner, in which Shields was alleged to have struck Baumgardner in the face.Although separated by several weight classes, pound-for-pound stars Shields and Baumgardner have repeatedly clashed in recent years and have even discussed a potential fight. Their bad blood doesn't appear to be dying down anytime soon and neither does the tension between Shields and women's boxing's leading promoter."I don't care [about MVP],"Shields, womens boxings undisputed heavyweight champion, said bluntly on Uncrowned's "The Ariel Helwani Show. "Wynn Records [Shields co-promoter] over here. MVP is the [opponent] of me. I'm not in support of them. I support the girls [with MVP], but I don't care about MVP, and they know that.""I'm not banned from boxing," Shields added in response to MVP's banning. "I can go to any boxing event I want to go to. Either way [that] goes, [MVP has] always been against the Claressa Shields brand and the Claressa Shields story, and has always tried to discredit me. And that's fine, but I am No. 1 in women's boxing pound-for-pound No. 1 making a whole lot of money, undefeated."Shields became one of boxing's most sought-after free agents this past year after her deal with longtime promoter Salita Promotions expired. Shields had talks with multiple entities, including Eddie Hearn's Matchroom and her adversary, Paul's MVP, but ultimately agreed to a two-year deal with Salita and Wynn Records worth $8 million."Who doesn't want to sign the GWOAT [Greatest Woman Of All Time]?" Shields asked rhetorically of MVP's approach. "The brand stands for itself. They can say what they want to say, 'Oh, she's not likable. We this, we that.' [The] Claressa Shields brand is strong."Everybody wants to sign Claressa Shields, so of course [they made me an offer]. I mean, that's a smart business move [from MVP]. People go in business with folks they don't like all the time. It's not nothing new."Signing with MVP would've made it easier to make some of the more enticing matchups for Shields, including a fight with fellow Michigan resident Baumgardner, which would be a major event. After all, they are both pound-for-pound fighters, the two biggest U.S. stars in women's boxing, and there's certainly no love lost between the pair. Claressa Shields has been banned from all MVP events after slapping Alycia Baumgardner at the Ronda Rousey fight Alycia says shes also taking legal action pic.twitter.com/yC4kwCi0je Happy Punch (@HappyPunch) May 19, 2026Shields, however, has no interest in talking about a matchup with the super featherweight champion. "I don't know who that is," Shields said of her rival. " I just hate when girls run their mouth, that's it. ... If a girl doesn't weigh 154 [pounds] or above, I don't think that nobody who does interviews with me should ask me about girls who are at lower weight classes who are not willing to come to at least 154 for a fight. "So that's my way of just avoiding that whole conversation and narrative. ... I'm not about to keep talking about somebody who only fought one weight class and doesn't take the best challenges. That doesn't make sense to keep doing anymore."The public account of Shields' altercation with Baumgardner in May was hardly favorable to Shields. MVP described her alleged behavior as "intolerable," claiming that Shields became physical outside of the ring, which "reflects poorly" on women's sports. Baumgardner said Shields' alleged assault was unprovoked and "entirely consistent with the individual involved." She also said she was exploring legal options.Shields bristled at what she viewed as an attempt to assign her sole responsibility for the confrontation."People paint out these narratives, and then they put out all this first of all, the fake and the false press release about the whole ban thing," Shields began. " It was like, I just walked up and this happened. It's like, no, tell the truth. They're liars over there. They're liars. And they do that because my brand is so strong. "Jake Paul said, 'Yeah, she's a great fighter, but no one likes her.' How can you say that no one likes me and I got 1.8 million followers? 1.8 million people like me, and that's on Instagram; 215,000 people like me on YouTube, and 500,000-600,000 like me on Facebook. You talk all this stuff [but] look, you don't like me. Keep that s*** between you. "Don't try and recruit all your people who support you or like you and be like, 'Hey, you guys, we all don't want to like this one girl right here. Let's talk about her. Let's make her look bad. Let's talk about how she trash talks and how she's mean and how yeah, she's a great fighter, but she did this.' "Like they lied and said that I celebrated Shadasia [Green] having a brain bleed. No, I celebrated Lani Daniels whooping Shadasia's ass without us even knowing it was a brain bleed in play that's what I celebrated. I didn't celebrate that she could never box again because of her brain bleed, but they wanted to make it seem like that when that's not even the case. I like Shadasia."MVP and Baumgardner have not been the only targets for Shields. Shes reserved some of her sharpest criticism for former UFC, Bellator and PFL champion Cris Cyborg.Claressa Shields (left) is one of the top fighters in women's boxing.Richard Pelham via Getty Images"What a bum," Shields said of Cyborg. "She's offering me $2 million for a fight? She can't even pay herself $2 million [and she's] talking about [how] she's offering me $2 million. Cris Cyborg can't box. "I don't know why she's on this, 'I want to fight against Claressa Shields,' but when I made you the offer to fight at '54 [pounds], you were like, 'Come down to '47 [pounds] and wear eight-ounce gloves and all this other bull crap.'"Shields then revisited a previous sparring session between the two, claiming they had agreed to six rounds but Cyborg stopped after just four."I beat the s*** out of her," Shields said. "Like literally, and I wasn't even trying. I didn't have a mouthpiece or nothing. ... I was coming down there to show her some boxing stuff, but she was like, 'You want to get in the ring and spar?' I said, 'I spar with anybody. How many rounds?' And they said six. I didn't even have a coach or nothing, and I kicked her ass. And then she quit at four rounds."Shields alleged that Cyborg's team later asked for the footage to be edited to make the session appear more competitive."She's like a deer in the headlights the fourth round," Shields continued. "She was damn near begging me not to knock her out, not to stop her. We supposed to go six rounds, we went four.'"Girl, I can fight you with one hand and beat the dogs*** out of you."
