Titans training camp: Sights and sounds from Day 1
The Tennessee Titans finished Day 2 of 2026 training camp with a full complement of players on hand to take part in the on-field activities, although a few were sidelined due to minor ailments.Offensive tackle JC Latham remained on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, while wide receiver Calvin Ridley (illness) and quarterback Mitch Trubisky (tightness) were limited. Ahead of the practice, Robert Saleh met with the media and mentioned that neither injury was serious and both should return quickly. With the team still practicing without pads, it is hard to see how the competition along the offensive line was progressing, although it was outlined that Austin Schlottmann (center) and Cordell Volson (right guard) would have first crack at working with the starting unit. All in all, it was a solid day of work at the team facility, and here are some sights and sounds from the afternoon.Robert Saleh with injury updates#Titans HC Robert Saleh says Calvin Ridley had a real bad stomach bug and is working to gain back weight and strength.QB Mitch Trubisky got tight during conditioning yesterday, and is getting re-acclimated. pic.twitter.com/ovvHlzXNyS Parker Kelley (@parker_kelley10) July 29, 2026Carnell Tate heads to first training camp practice.@carnelltates first training camp pic.twitter.com/5cIYOG64ay Tennessee Titans (@Titans) July 29, 2026And the work beginsHC Robert Saleh dapping up his players before Wednesday's 1st TC practice. #Titans@NC5@NashSportsRadiopic.twitter.com/8tygeOq38P Jon Burton (@JonBurton3234) July 29, 2026WanDale Robinson #Titanspic.twitter.com/4PQIMXoAE1 Parker Kelley (@parker_kelley10) July 29, 2026#Titans QBs + plenty of Cam Ward:@1025TheGame@c_nute15pic.twitter.com/0egGCW9DAx Parker Kelley (@parker_kelley10) July 29, 2026#Titans DL get offs pic.twitter.com/N2I3CLaRRW TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) July 29, 2026#Titans Carnell Tate pic.twitter.com/SL9GnGMMDZ TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) July 29, 2026Quick looks at #Titans Solomon Thomas and John Franklin-Myers. pic.twitter.com/vV2U9F7yd8 TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) July 29, 2026Re-post (cause I suffer from premature postulation)#Titans OL spent individual on combo blocks. What Paul Finebaum said about Lane Kiffin during SEC Media Day
LSU football head coach Lane Kiffin revealed during SEC media day that he logged off of social media. The Tigers' new leader described it as a way to stay focused on building the program without the opinions of others in his head. ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum said Kiffin wants to divert attention away from his whereabouts."If you were expecting Lane Kiffin to make news this morning, he did not," Finebaum said. "Lane Kiffin is trying to lower the flames on his reputation."Finebaum equated Kiffin's decision to stay off social media and his 21-minute monologue on Thursday during SEC media day as ways to avoid distractions and questions about his actions. Neither came as a surprise to Finebaum."This was not a surprise," Finebaum said. "He acted like his whole career has been misunderstood." After going 5-15 with the Oakland Raiders as the NFL's youngest head coach, Kiffin got fired with cause by Al Davis. Nick Saban let Kiffin, then the offensive coordinator at Alabama, go before the national championship game as he struggled to multitask after accepting the head coaching job at FAU. And Kiffin racked up strikes as the head coach at Tennessee between accusing others of recruiting violations and picking them up himself.Leaving Ole Miss ahead of its first College Football Playoff appearance in program history to take the LSU job is another occurrence drawing criticism to Kiffin. But addressing his whereabouts on Thursday set the table for a highly-anticipated first season in Baton Rouge. Finebaum was impressed by Kiffin's media day performance. "Most of what Lane has done has been self-inflicted," Finebaum said. "I think he met the moment today fairly well."This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: What Paul Finebaum said about Lane Kiffin during SEC Media Day

Jamie Carragher says Bradley Barcola is not the player to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool
Jamie Carragher says Bradley Barcola is not the player to replace Mohamed Salah at LiverpoolLiverpool want to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola as Reds manager Andoni Iraola prepares for life at Anfield next season. Liverpool want to replace Mohamed Salah and they have identified the France international as a top target. However, Reds legend Jamie Carragher is not convinced that Barcola is the player to replace the Egyptian at the Merseyside club. The former Liverpool star took to social media this evening to react to news, explaining why the PSG star is not the player his former club should not be targeting.Barcola predominantly plays on the left, but he can also feature on the right and through the middle. He is open to joining Liverpool, with the Reds willing to spend around 100 million to acquire his services. Iraola will be desperate to sign a player capable of replacing Salah, and the PSG star could struggle to replicate his numbers. Victor Munoz has been signed from Osasuna, and the Spain international attacker will hope to hit the ground running in the Premier League next term. The 23-year-old ended last term with six goals and two assists in 34 La Liga games. He won the World Cup with Spain but did not make any appearance at the tournament.Liverpool were underwhelming last season, eventually leading to the sacking of Arne Slot and Iraola has been tasked with turning things around.

Kyler Murray: I'm just grateful I get to throw Justin Jefferson the ball
Kyler Murray doesn't know yet if he'll be the Vikings' No. 1 quarterback. But if he is, he knows Justin Jefferson will be his No. 1 receiver. And he's grateful for that."I think it's greatness," Murray said when asked about Jefferson. "Not only does he believe he's the best receiver in the league, he wants to be. From what I've seen out here, he's proved it every single day. Those are the guys you want to be around. It's few and far between having guys like that, but when you get around one, you see why. I'm just grateful I get to throw him the ball."Murray, in his first training camp with the Vikings, said there's nothing better than the start of a new season."It's the best time of the year," Murray said. "The best time of the year. Grass is green, sun is out, the trees beautiful scenery. Just getting to touch the field again with the guys, getting to play the game that I love to play. Best time of the year."Murray said the top priority in camp is getting accustomed to running the Vikings' offense."It's a reps thing," Murray said. "Continue to do it over and over again, say it over and over again. The more you do it, the more you say it, the more it comes natural, the more it comes easier. I think that's really the process for me. Once all that settles down, for me it's just playing football."Murray hopes to be playing football in September, and throwing a lot of footballs to Jefferson.

Nico Iamaleava wanted to stay at UCLA, Chesney says: 'Did not want to go anywhere'
Even after a rough first season at UCLA and a new coach coming in for Year 2, quarterback Nico Iamaleava had no plans to leave the Bruins. There was wonder if Iamaleava, who had a highly publicized departure from Tennessee to UCLA in spring 2025, would want a fresh start after the Bruins went 3-9, their worst record since 2018. After the Bruins hired Bob Chesney in December, the No. 1 task Chesney undertook was trying to keep his quarterback. Chesney succeeded as Iamaleava didn't enter the transfer portal.Chesney was asked at Big Ten media days on Wednesday, July 29 about how he was able to keep the polarizing signal-caller as he enters his first season in Westwood. Turns out, there wasn't much convincing he had to do."It started with retaining Nico, obviously, when we got here," he said. "I think for Nico, and he can speak on you know on his own behalf, but I'll you know just to add a little color to it, he did not want to go anywhere. This is where he wanted to be. This is where he wanted to play."The coach added factors like being from Southern California and his younger brother, Madden, also being on the squad played a role in wanting to stay, which were things Iamaleava had consistently said were reasons he chose to UCLA after a reported name, image and likeness fallout at Tennessee. With the desire to stay, Chesney said the next phase was making sure he was on the same page with the incoming coaching staff. Now, it's about helping him take that next step in what could be his final season of college football."I just love the growth he's had as a leader," Chesney said. "To watch him just grow and run with this and flourish at this moment as the leader, he was unanimously voted the leader of our football team when we did voted our leadership council. He was at the top by a large margin, and that just speaks to the way he carries himself on a day-to-day basis. We're going to need him to be really, really good on Saturdays as well."Iamaleava threw for 1,928 yards and 13 touchdowns with seven interceptions in 11 games last season, while leading the Bruins in rushing yards (505), carries (112) and rushing touchdowns (4). UCLA opens the season at California in Week 1 on Saturday, Sept. 5.This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: Nico Iamaleava wanted to stay at UCLA, Chesney says: 'Did not want to go anywhere'

Where To Find Spain's Stars After The 2026 World Cup
Spain won its second men's World Cup title following a 1-0 win over then-defending champions Argentina to cap off a memorable run in which La Roja only conceded one goal in eight tournament matches. The campaign began with a scoreless draw against Cape Verde but Spain rebounded with a resounding 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia. The group stage concluded with a 1-0 win over Uruguay to clinch Group H. In the knockout rounds, Spain first defeated Austria 3-0 in the round of 32. That folllowed a 1-0 win over Portugal in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, a 2-1 over Belgium set up a blockbuster semifinals clash with France. It turned out to be dominant 2-0 performance for Spain, followed by the win over Argentina in the final. So what's next for the players who led Spain to its World Cup victory? As the Golden Ball winner for the tournament's best player, Rodri put one masterclass after another as the team's captain and do-everything midfielder. He didn't score a goal or log an assist, but his ability to contribute in both the attack and defense made him a vital piece of Spain's puzzle. He becomes the seventh player to win the World Cup, a European Championship, a Champions League and a Ballon d'Or across his career. Rodri currently plays for Manchester City, for which he has won every major club title in his seven seasons there. He's now been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Turning 19 during the tournament, Yamal didn't quite live up to the hype coming into the summer as he recovered from a hamstring injury, but still showed why he'll be a star player for years to come. His only goal came in the win over Saudi Arabia, becoming the second player aged 18 or younger to score the opening goal in a World Cup match since Pel in 1958. Yamal becoming the youngest player to win both the World Cup and the UEFA European Championship at 19 years and six days old. He also became the third-youngest player to appear in or win a World Cup final after Pel and Giuseppe Bergomi. Yamal returns to action with Barcelona, having led the club to consecutive LaLiga titles. He'll be instrumental in trying to help the Catalan club win its first Champions League trophy since 2015. Another 19-year-old Barcelona phenom like Yamal, centerback Pau Cubarsi was a stalwart in the backline for Spain as he was paired with veteran Aymeric Laporte in the central defense. He became just the second player on record to complete more than 100 passes in a World Cup final. Cubarsi was a deserved pick as the Young Player of the Tournament. His World Cup winner's medal follows his Olympic gold medal he earned with the Spanish Under-23 team at the 2024 Games in Paris. Mikel Oyarzabal wasn't tabbed as Spain's leading goalscorer for the tournament with the likes of Lamine Yamal on the squad, but the Real Sociedad man finished the tournament as a surprise contender in the Golden Ball chase with five goals. Oyzarabal doesn't have the profile of a classic striker but his ability to find space in Spain's system of intricate passing and build-up made him the perfect point man for Luis de la Fuente's side. Already a key man for Spain during its 2024 Euro title run, Oyzarabal provided the finishing touches throughout the summer. His five goals equaled the record for the most by a Spanish player in a single edition previously achieved by Emilio Butragueo and David Villa. Oyarzabal returns to Real Socieded the only club he has ever played for professionally this season. Unai Simn won the tournament's Golden Glove award as the top goalkeeper even though he wasn't always the busiest man on the pitch. He allowed just one goal in eight games Charles De Ketelaere's goal for Belgium in the quarterfinals was the sole blemish and in the final against Argentina he saw just two shots, neither on target. In all, Simn needed to make only 14 saves at the tournament. Argentina's Emiliano Martnez nearly had to make that many in the final alone, finishing with 11. Simn plays for Athletic Club in Bilbao, where he is one of LaLiga's top performing keepers.
