Successive ankle injuries meant lengthy periods out of action as Chelsea's title defence faltered, all while her contract was running down. But despite interest from other Women's Super League clubs, the 23-year-old signed a new four-year deal at Chelsea and intends to play a key role this season as the Blues try to bounce back from a disappointing campaign."I look at my career at Chelsea so far and I had quite a successful start," she told BBC Sport. "Last year, as a club, it was probably our hardest season. We got one trophy, which isn't up to our standards."Personally, it was the toughest year with injuries. It put me on the sidelines quite a bit and I really struggled getting consistency back."I spent a lot of time this summer recovering to conquer this season and I'm really delighted to have signed a new contract. She was Chelsea's top scorer on the way to an unbeaten domestic treble, and capped by winning Euro 2025 with England.But last season she learned a harsh lesson, only once completing a full game after Christmas while Manchester City ended Chelsea's six-year stranglehold on the WSL."It was extremely tough - it was the first big injury I had," Beever-Jones said of her ankle issues. "I'm never going to go off the pitch unless I'm in absolute agony. There were a few times where I wanted to carry on pushing and my body was not ready and I really struggled with that. "The mental side isn't always spoken about enough. My job is to be a footballer and as soon as that's taken away from me, I feel empty. "It's hard to fill that void. You come to training and you try to put on a brave face but you do feel a little bit isolated. "There were some dark times but I think that's all part of the journey that you need to go on to really appreciate the good times."Beever-Jones says she feels "stronger" after that challenging period and is ready to fight for a consistent starting role at Chelsea.She also has her mind on the Women's World Cup next year and to catch England manager Sarina Wiegman's eye as the Lionesses attempt to reach a fourth successive major final.The striker has netted seven goals in 16 England appearances, including a memorable first-half hat-trick against Portugal at Wembley in 2025. The Pacers' social media team started leaving breadcrumbs a week ago leading to the announcement of their new pinstriped Statement uniforms. Just before the formal announcement, they pointed back at the trail.The Pacers posted a photo graphic of the uniforms with tweets clamoring for a return of the pinstripes. The post read: "Please go back and read the first letter of our last 17 tweets," with two eye emojis.Indeed, the first letter of that tweet and the previous 16 spelled out "PINSTRIPES ARE BACK." The pattern was never obvious in large part because the letters were posted in reverse order chronologically so that scrolling through the timeline would spell out the words. So the last letter -- K -- was posted first on July 23 in a post about newly acquired Pacers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. highlighting a quote in a podcast from general manager Chad Buchanan. It wasn't until Wednesday that any of the posts even touched on the topic of uniforms as the social media team kept the bit going through tweets about Obi Toppin's charity golf outing, video of Tyrese Haliburton dunking during his Achilles tendon injury recovery, Toppin's serving as the pace car driver at the Brickyard 400 and the appearances of Jarace Walker and Braden Smith at basketball camps. CHICAGO Michigan State linebacker Jordan Hall had a smile on his face at Big Ten Media Days on Wednesday talking about his former teammate Nick Marshs unique dress sense.After the 2025 season, Indiana football signed the talented receiver out of the transfer portal. Marsh made a splashy entrance on the first day of spring camp by busting out a pair of gold cleats in violation of Curt Cignettis strict uniform policy.Cignetti sent Marsh right back to the locker room.It didn't surprise me that he yelled at him, Hall said with a laugh. It was not until the end of 2024 that Kjetil Knutsen fully trusted him as the teams first-choice striker.His breakthrough on the European stage came during the 2024/25 Europa League campaign. Hgh finished as the competitions top scorer with seven goals, playing a decisive role in Bod/Glimts historic run to the semi-finals, where they faced Ange Postecoglous Tottenham Hotspur.Those displays attracted attention across Europe, but it was his subsequent Champions League campaign that truly placed him among the continents most sought-after forwards.Ironically, his Champions League journey started in the worst possible way. He missed penalties in each of his first two matches and failed to score until the seventh game, against Manchester City.However, once he finally found the net, the goals arrived in bunches. Like the famous ketchup effect often associated with strikers, one goal opened the floodgates, and Hgh finished the competition with five goals and two assists in his final six appearances.His domestic numbers have been equally impressive. He finished second in the Eliteserien scoring charts in each of the last two seasons and, at the time of his transfer to Celtic, is leading the race again with seven goals in just 12 league matches.WHAT TYPE OF STRIKER IS CELTIC SIGNING?Hgh is the definition of a penalty-box striker. His greatest quality is his instinct inside the area. He consistently finds space between defenders, anticipates rebounds and loose balls, and is exceptionally efficient with his first touch.A large percentage of his goals come from close range, reflecting his outstanding positional awareness rather than spectacular finishing from distance.In fact, statistics illustrate this profile perfectly. Since arriving at Bod/Glimt, he has not scored a single goal from outside the penalty area and has attempted only five shots from long range, according to Sofascore.He is a striker who thrives in confined spaces, normally requiring only one or two touches to finish an attack.Although finishing is clearly his greatest strength, Hgh offers more than goals. He is capable of playing with his back to goal, protecting possession and linking play with teammates.One of the best examples came against Inter Milan, when he produced an excellent backheel assist. He is also an industrious player without the ball, presses aggressively and contributes defensively, while his aerial ability makes him another valuable weapon inside the box.That said, he has never been a striker heavily involved in his teams build-up. Bod/Glimts attacking structure rarely required him to participate extensively outside the final third. During the Champions League campaign he averaged only 13 passes per match.THE MAJOR CONCERN ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCES IN GLASGOWThe biggest uncertainty surrounding his move to Celtic is whether he can reproduce his level away from the unique environment created at Bod/Glimt. The Norwegian champions play with an extremely distinctive tactical identity under Kjetil Knutsen.That perception even extends to the Norwegian national team. Despite Bod/Glimts outstanding Champions League displays, only three players from the club were selected for Norways World Cup squad, and Jens Petter Hauge and Fredrik Bjrkan played fewer than an hour combined.There is a widespread belief in Norway that national team coach Stle Solbakken remains unconvinced that Bod/Glimt players can consistently reproduce their club performances in different tactical environments.History also supports those concerns. Berg, for example, failed to establish himself at Lens before returning to Norway, while Hauge, despite earning a move to AC Milan after starring in Europe, never reached the same heights during spells in Italy, Germany and Belgium.There is no doubt that Celtic have taken a significant gamble in this signing.
