Former Houston Texans linebacker Devin White has found a new home.According to reports, White and the Detroit Lions have agreed to terms on a one-year deal. A former star for LSU, White was selected fifth overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. Plenty of NFL owners have sold pieces of their teams, either to individual partners or to pre-approved private equity funds.The Cowboys haven't, but they also won't close the door on it."We wouldnt rule it out, but, you know, we'd also be very particular in who we would bring in as a partner in terms of that," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Friday. "But, yes, it was designed when we passed that rule that you could have, you know, private equity involved in the NFL, and you could have minority partners, you know, it made sense for a lot of different reasons, and every owner who chooses to go that path can speak for themselves in terms of why they're doing it, but it does I think it's a great tool. I think it makes the league stronger personally, and, certainly, it's not something we would ever totally rule out. But I wouldn't say anything's on the front burner, either."The valuation would surely be massive. They could possibly make upwards of $1.5 billion for only 10 percent of the team. And it wouldn't change anything about their control of the organization.But it also would result in 10 percent of the future profits going to the partner. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Teddye Buchanan appears to be passing that test.Drafted in Round 4 of the 2025 NFL Draft, Buchanan would notch 93 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and a pass deflection through 14 games and 13 starts. He'd eventually be named to the Pro Football Writers Association's NFL All-Rookie Team, but not before tearing his ACL in December, which would obviously end his season.Although Buchanan remains sidelined as he continues his recovery, updates have been positive. He's expected to be one of the important cogs in Baltimore's defensive machine when healthy.Veteran linebacker Roquan Smith believes the second-year defender has already impressed teammates by the way he's handled every step of the process. Like, it is kind of crazy, some of the stuff. I cannot discuss the training room stuff or whatever, but the way that guy is looking and what he has been doing... I am like, 'I wish I could do some of the stuff he is doing'. You would never know he has had that type of injury or whatever... He is the type of guy who just puts his head down and grinds, and he knows what he wants for himself. (He's) ery mature beyond his years. I have said that many times before, and I think that just echoes."For veterans, those traits often reveal as much about a player's future as anything that happens on the practice field. Roquan Smith believes Buchanan's mindset will fuel his return. He also believes Buchanan's response to adversity mirrors the path he's followed throughout his football journey."A little adversity, he is not letting it phase him one bit. He is like, 'Hey, it happened, so what? Now what?' That is what he is going to do. He is just going to continue to prove doubters wrong, starting at small-school ball (before) transferring out. He has always had the odds against him in a sense, and he is just going to continue to do that. I am excited for his journey as well, and I think whenever he gets back it is going to be a great addition for all of us."Buchanan still has work to do before he's back on the field, but Smith's comments suggest the Ravens aren't questioning his resolve. If anything, they believe the same perseverance that carried him to the NFL is helping carry him through one of the toughest challenges of his young career.When Buchanan does return, Baltimore expects to welcome back more than a healthy linebacker. The New England Patriots finished up their three-day stretch of consecutive practices in pads on Saturday. With Sunday scheduled as a day off, the team took a more conservative approach to Day 7 of training camp. Granted, there was still a competitive period of practice, but multiple veteran players either rested during the period or left early.The offense had the edge through the first two practices in pads, but the defense put up more of a fight in Saturday's session. If anything, the competition between the two units felt more even with the defense notching takeaways from quarterbacks Drake Maye and Behren Morton.Here are the five standouts from Day 7 of training camp:K Andy BorregalesPatriots kicker Andy Borregales was a perfect 5-of-5 kicking field goals on Saturday. He obviously doesn't need training camp competition to light a fire under him. The second-year specialist has been red-hot through training camp, missing only two kicks to this point. His max distance was around 55 yards at practice. WR Romeo DoubsFor all of the talk of A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs is starting to build a connection with Drake Maye as well. He ended practice with five catches on Saturday, which was his most through seven training camp sessions. The veteran wideout did cough up a fumble at one point, but he did enough good on the field to still make the standout list. CB Karon PruntyWith Carlton Davis sidelined, the Patriots will be counting on some of their young cornerbacks to step up in practice. Rookie Karon Prunty flashed as one of those potential playmakers by picking off backup quarterback Tommy DeVito during the competitive team period. The Patriots are hoping he makes similar plays in the coming weeks as his confidence continues to grow. S Dell PettusDrake Maye threw his second interception in training camp on Saturday. This time, it was safety Dell Pettus who bagged the defensive takeaway. It was a much-needed play for the defense given how well Maye has looked over the last two practices. Pettus is a tough and instinctive player with a habit of making plays. WR A.J. BrownA.J. Brown didn't stay for the full practice, but he was once again a difference-maker in limited reps. He finished practice with three catches, including a deep contested catch against Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Back in the spring, fifth-round pick Kendrick Law suffered a season-ending ACL injury. And on Friday, fourth-round pick Jimmy Rolder left a training camp practice early with a leg injury. According to a report from Justin Rogers, Rolder is expected to be out for a while. As a response, the Lions opted to sign veteran Devin White to help Detroits linebacker room.Its a tough break for Rolder, as he had a promising starting to training camp. While he wasnt likely to be a prominent feature on Detroits defense in his rookie season, the former Michigan linebacker was in line for a significant role on special teams. Back in the spring, Lions coaches were optimistic about how Rolder was progressing in the early stages of his NFL career. Still has a lot of room for growth, but Im pretty good with where he is now, Lions linebacker coach Shaun Dion Hamilton said in June. I just continue to challenge him day in and day out, where its always a learning curve for rookies coming from college football to the pros, but Im excited to work with him and its gonna be a lot of meat on the bone and a lot of things that he can grow (from) coming into training camp.Unfortunately, it appears Rolders development will have to be on hold. At this point, its unclear just how long a while is, but Detroit cannot place him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list now that training camp has started. If the Lions opt to place him on injured reserve now, his rookie season will be over. But Detroit could opt to carry him to roster cutdowns, then place him on IR, and he would only have to miss a four-game minimum. Well likely get more clarity on Rolders issue the next time Dan Campbell is scheduled to talk to the media, which is Monday morning.
