Anthony Molina is going to the Giants. In return for Mahle, the Giants will be receiving right-hander Anthony Molina. In his short MLB career, he has seen little-to-no success and will be a project for the Giants. In reality, this is a salary dump for San Francisco, as they are in the midst of an atrocious season. Gutting the books is the first order of business for Buster Poseys club.Mahle, 31, was a breakout star last season. In 86.2 innings, he managed a 2.18 ERA and 2.2 bWAR.This season hasnt been quite as bountiful. Through 94.2 innings, Mahle has a middling 5.13 ERA, with -0.2 bWAR. Its been a rough go for the veteran starter. The Braves have been looking for innings all season, and they finally found some.Like HEAVY's content?Be sure to follow us.This article was originally published on HEAVYThe post BREAKING: Braves Acquiring $10M Right-Hander from Giants for 5.40 ERA Reliever appeared first on HEAVY.0 Comments 0 Shares 57 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMYankees Land Big Power Bat In Blockbuster Trade With NationalsWashington Nationals first baseman Luis Garca Jr.The New York Yankees have been without Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton for a while due to injuries, but they finally replaced that gaping hole in their lineup by acquiring Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals on Sunday.Garcia is enjoying his best season yet at age 26, batting .283/.313/.560 and leading the National League in slugging percentage. He's also already set career highs with 23 home runs and 76 RBI.If he stays healthy, the left-handed slugger should be able to reach 30 homers and 100 RBI this year, especially now that he calls Yankee Stadium home. He's also under team control through next year, so he isn't a rental.Looking for the perfect gift for a baseball player in your life? Check out our brand new baseball lifestyle brand! The Yankees paid a steep price for Garcia, however, sending right-handed pitchers Yovanny Cruz, Jake Bird, Jack Cebert, and Ben Grable to the Nationals.Washington has one of the best offenses and worst pitching staffs in baseball this year, making this a sensible trade for the Nationals. It also makes sense for New York, which desperately needed another slugger in its lineup to give Ben Rice some help.More MLB:Dodgers Reportedly Land Tarik Skubal From Tigers In Blockbuster Trade0 Comments 0 Shares 35 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMChannel swimming dads hoping for world recordSports massage therapist Heidi Bell-West will be on board the support boat while the dads are doing their challenge [BBC]Four dads are hoping to set a world record by doing a swimming relay across the English Channel for charity.Nik Haynes, Olly White, Ross Szender and Adam Tapp, who are known on social media as Channel Medley Relay 2026, will each swim a different stroke - backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. The quartet, all aged in their 40s and from East Devon, plan to head into the water on 27 August and are aiming to break the record for a relay swim across the Channel while raising money for Hospiscare. The dads added they had a "secret weapon" in the form of massage therapist Heidi Bell-West, whose great-great-great uncle was Capt Matthew Webb - the first man to swim across the Channel.More news stories for DevonListen to the latest news for DevonEach of the dads will swim their stroke for an hour before having a three-hour rest, with the current record for a medley-order relay across the Channel set at 11 hours, 29 minutes. The four men said they wanted to demonstrate resilience and determination to their children, but are also doing the challenge to raise money for charity.Szender, who will be swimming butterfly, said: "In 2023, my mum passed away with cancer and was given a diagnosis of one month to live."Hospiscare were there right from the beginning, for her and for the family."Haynes said it had "taken a lot of coordination" to set up the record attempt. "We're four guys in our 40s with families, at least two kids each and full-time jobs," he said as they did a practice session in the sea at Budleigh Salterton."We haven't had a lot of time to set aside and we've been sneaking the training in, but we're very committed to making it happen."The four swimmers will take it in turns swimming for an hour and then resting for three hours [BBC]The plan is to swim the shortest route between England and France.White, the team's breaststroke swimmer, said: "The best case scenario is we get a small tide, because with the Channel the tide moves you around quite a lot, and we leave from Shakespeare Beach at Folkestone and end up at Cap Gris-Nez."Bell-West said it would be a tough challenge for the dads because of the strokes they were planning to do in potentially adverse weather conditions."It's going to be cold no matter what, so they will need me to keep those muscles moving as much as possible," she added.Follow BBC Devon on X, Facebook and Instagram. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMMercedes chooses the constructors' title over prioritizing Kimi Antonelli's title chancesFor now, Mercedes has no plans to give Kimi Antonelli preferential treatment to help secure his first Formula 1 world championship, despite what happened in the 2025 title battle between the two McLaren drivers and Max Verstappen. The team confirmed that winning the constructors' championship remains its primary target. For most of the 2025 campaign, McLaren had the fastest car, and the constructors' title was already wrapped up by the Singapore Grand Prix. However, the drivers' title nearly slipped through the team's grasp. The Woking-based team did not favour either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri, and in the end, Verstappen nearly 'stole' the world title, finishing just two points behind the Briton in the standings. In 2026, Mercedes finds itself in a similar situation. At the moment, Antonelli leads the drivers' standings, but George Russell is not out of contention either. Lewis Hamilton is currently sitting in second place, and it is possible that the Mercedes drivers could take so many points off each other that, ultimately, the Ferrari driver could take advantage and win the biggest prize.'If a Mercedes can win, a Mercedes must win'Nevertheless, Mercedes refuses to throw its full support behind Antonelli. The simple principle is, if Mercedes can win the race, Mercedes must win the race. That comes first, deputy team principal Bradley Lord said in response to GPblog's question while speaking to a select group of media."The team comes first and the Constructors' Championship is the team's primary focus and primary objective. We've seen the fight swing all the way out to the point where, I think, it was being written that there was only one possible winner of the championship, and then, in the space of three races, we've seen that swing completely the other way as well. So it's far too early to even be thinking like that."Lord then indicated that Mercedes wants to be the best in every single area. "We want to win both championships, absolutely, and we'll give ourselves the best chance of doing that by getting two cars to the finish as often as possible in the highest possible positions we can, which is what we've failed to do at every single race so far this year. So that's the focus, keep the cars reliable and fast and enable the drivers to give it their best shot for winning the Drivers' Championship."At the same time, Mercedes will stick to its core principle: If a Mercedes can win, a Mercedes must win and we don't mind which of the two cars it is. We'll do what we need to do in order to ensure that the best of those cars can do that on any given Sunday. That's the priority for us, Lord concluded.0 Comments 0 Shares 35 Views 0 Reviews
