Inter reach 100 million social media followers in a consolidation of global growth
Inter reach 100 million social media followers in a consolidation of global growthFC Internazionale Milano have reached a historic and significant milestone, which cements their size on a global scale. The Nerazzurri now have over 100 million fans on their social media platforms, distributed across their 26 different profiles. It is an achievement that goes beyond mere numbers and tells the tale of a project that has been carried out over time, in which on-field success has been linked to an increasingly structured digital strategy, which has broadened the horizons of its fanbase to new audiences outside of Italy. In the last twelve months, this growth has been constant and significant, having drawn in over 16 million new fans, an increase of over 20%, which is a leading figure among the worlds top clubs. In the last six months (February to July), this growth has taken the Club over the 100-million mark, strengthening Inters position as one of the most popular entities in world football. In particular, YouTube and TikTok, two key platforms in the Clubs internationalisation, largely drove this increase in followers.Inter have surpassed 10 million subscribers on YouTube, joining an elite group of global football clubs on the platform. Between February and July, the Club recorded 6.1 million new subscribers, representing growth of 135%. This milestone has also seen Inter climb to seventh in the global ranking of football clubs by subscriber count. At the same time, TikTok continued to establish itself as one of the Club's most dynamic platforms, with steady growth in both its fanbase (+4 million followers between February and July) and engagement. It was on TikTok that the Club also experimented with new storytelling formats, launching an innovative "Out Of Phone" campaign to celebrate its 21st Scudetto. For the first time, content native to the platform stepped beyond the smartphone screen to become a shared, real-world experience, accompanying the Bus Parade and turning Milano into an extension of the Club's digital storytelling. The initiative generated hundreds of millions of views and drove a significant increase in followers, further demonstrating Inter's ability to bring the digital and physical worlds together through moments of powerful emotional impact. The Nerazzurri community continues to grow on a global scale, driven increasingly by international markets. Over the past year, the Club's international fanbase has grown by 25.6%, underlining the increasingly structured nature of its global expansion. Within this landscape, the United States remains the leading Western market for fan growth, with its fanbase increasing by 24.6% over the last 12 months, driven in particular by strong performances on TikTok and YouTube. Looking at the Americas as a whole, the region now accounts for 18% of Inter's global community. A concrete sign of the Inter brands growing relevance in one of the key strategic global markets.Alongside the growth of its fanbase, Inter has also continued to strengthen the quality of its digital performance. Over the past season, impressions increased by 43% and video views by 33%, despite a 33% reduction in the overall volume of content published. These figures highlight the effectiveness of an increasingly targeted editorial strategy, designed to maximise both reach and engagement. This growth has been underpinned by an integrated approach spanning content, platforms and distribution. An evolving content strategy, a stronger presence across digital channels and a renewed media strategy, increasingly focused on both global and geo-targeted planning, have all contributed to building sustainable, long-term growth. "This milestone is the latest step in a journey Inter have been pursuing for some time with a clear vision and a consistent approach. The outstanding results achieved over the past season confirm the effectiveness of a renewed strategy that prioritises quality over quantity, investing in relevant, innovative content tailored to increasingly diverse and global audiences," said FC Internazionale Milano's Brand & Marketing Director, Luca Adornato. "The growth of our community reflects Inter's ability to connect with fans across different cultures and markets through a tailored approach that allows us to build ever closer relationships with our supporters, both in Italy and around the world." Reaching the milestone of 100 million followers is an important achievement, but it is not the finish line. Inter will continue to build on this momentum by exploring new opportunities, strengthening its presence across emerging platforms and further deepening its connection with an ever-growing, increasingly international and digitally connected fanbase.

Former Yankees Phenom, Purest What If Story, Dies After Very Brief Career

(Photo by Jeff Robinson/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesBaseball history is filled with countless what if stories, but few stories are remembered quite like that of a former New York Yankees left-hander. Once viewed as one of the organization's brightest young arms, with a physical pedigree and dominant debut that seemed to promise a long and prosperous career in the Bronx, Gil Blanco reached the majors before turning 20. But then he saw his professional baseball career end remarkably quickly and fans received the chance to remember his impressive potential and celebrate the life he enjoyed after baseball following his death.FORBES | By Peter ChawagaDodgers Veteran Cuts Ties With Team Just Before Tarik Skubal TradeFormer New York Yankees Phenom Reached Majors Before Turning 20Earlier this month, news surfaced that Blanco had died at age 80, prompting renewed reflection on one of the Yankees enduring "what if" careers.Godspeed Gil Blanco (19452026), baseball historian and Society for American Baseball Research contributor Max Effgen wrote. Phoenixs 6'5" lefty Bambi signed with the Yankees as a bonus baby, dominated A-ball at 18 (12-7, 2.31 ERA), debuted at 19 in 1965 (scoreless inning in relief of Jim Bouton), and was done in the majors before his 21st birthday. Blanco debuted for New York on April 24, 1965, throwing a scoreless inning in relief. He went on to make 18 more appearances for the Yankees that season and even started the Hall of Fame Game against the Philadelphia Phillies, which New York won 7-4.FORBES | By Peter ChawagaRed Sox Trade Castoff Sends Forever Grateful Message To Fans During Dodgers GameFormer New York Yankees Pitcher Saw Career End Almost As Quickly As It BeganBlanco's promise ultimately proved fleeting despite reaching the majors so young.Following the 1965 season, he spent time in Double-A before the Yankees traded him, along with Bill Stafford and Roger Repoz, to the Kansas City Athletics in exchange for Fred Talbot and Billy Bryan.Blanco made 11 appearances for the As in 1966, including eight starts, and finished 2-4 with a 4.70 ERA, Brian Linder noted for Cleveland.com. He never appeared in another Major League game after that season and retired in 1971.Blanco would end up posting a career 4.45 ERA in 28 total games for the Yankees and then the Athletics, moving onto a career with Southwest Airlines afterward. For Yankees fans and baseball historians alike, Blancos story remains a reminder of how unpredictable prospect development can be. His talent carried him to the majors before his 20th birthday, but his entire MLB career was over before he turned 21 leaving behind one of baseball's most compelling "what if" stories. This article was originally published on Forbes.com

Anthony Davis's Extension Talks With Wizards Are NBA's Next Offseason Domino
WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 19: Anthony Davis #23 of the Washington Wizards looks on during a timeout in the second quarter of the game against the Detroit Pistons at Capital One Arena on March 19, 2026 in Washington, DC. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by G Fiume/Getty Images)Getty ImagesOn Aug. 6, Anthony Davis becomes eligible to sign a four-year maximum contract extension with the Washington Wizards that's projected to be worth nearly $273 million. How those talks proceed could have major ripple effects across the NBA."There are rumblings he's demanding that full max from Washington but would sign for less if traded to a contender," Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports reported in late July. "That is why not every source is convinced the Wizards will ultimately keep him."When Davis trade rumors first emerged on the eve of free agency, the Wizards quickly worked to shut them down. A source told Andscape's Marc J. Spears at the time that the Wizards had "no interest" in trading Davis and were "not listening to offers for him."Would that stance change if Davis demands a full four-year max extension on Aug. 6? The ramifications could be felt leaguewide if so.Should The Wizards Give Davis A Full Max?Davis turned 33 in mid-March. He played in only 71 of a possible 164 regular-season games over the past two years, although he averaged 23.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 blocks per game when healthy.Davis has missed at least 15 games in nine of his 14 NBA seasons. Hes played in at least 70 games only three times. The closest analogy here would be Joel Embiid, to whom the Philadelphia 76ers gave a three-year, $187.9 million extension that promptly aged like milk on the surface of the sun.Davis is heading into his age-33 campaign, which means this extension will cover his age-34 through age-37 seasons. If the Wizards can't trust him to stay healthy over that stretchand there is no reason for them to expect otherwisethen giving him a full max extension that begins at 35% of the salary cap has the potential to upend their chances of building around No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa. The Wizards could try to talk Davis into taking less than a max, perhaps by pointing to the sacrifice San Antonio Spurs wunderkind Victor Wembanyama recently made. Although if O'Connor's sources are correct, Davis won't be amenable to that pitch from Washington. That would leave the Wizards with a decision to make.Further up the Eastern seaboard, the Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the Sixers this offseason for what many found to be an underwhelming haul for a player of his caliber. Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens later explained that the team's "path looked a little bit more challenging with 70% of our cap and such a high percent of our usage tied into two players."The Wizards also signed Trae Young to a four-year, $212.8 million extension this offseason that's projected to be worth roughly 30% of the cap each year. They wouldn't have 70% of the cap tied up by two players, but Davis and Young would gobble up roughly 65% of the cap if the Wizards give Davis a full max extension. Thanks to Davis, Young and Dybantsa, the Wizards are poised to level up this year. After winning only 17 games last season, their current over/under on regular-season wins is 32.5, per FanDuel Sportsbook. However, they also need to be mindful of their long-term financial outlook. If 2023 No. 7 overall pick Bilal Coulibaly doesnt sign an extension this offseason, hell be a restricted free agent next summer. Alex Sarr, whom the Wizards selected second overall in 2024, is set to become extension-eligible next offseason. The Wizards also have 2025 No. 6 overall pick Tre Johnson to account for, although he still has three years left on his rookie deal.Perhaps the Wizards plan on keeping Davis around until the cost of their young players explodes. But given where the Wizards are as an organization and what stage of his career that Davis is in, it's fair to wonder whether that's in their best interest.Where Could Davis Go? O'Connor reported the "popular theory around the league" was that LeBron James was "slow-playing his decision" in free agency "to see if any of his suitors could find a way to land" Davis or Kyrie Irving. According to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, "league sources told [ESPN's Shams] Charania and Anthony Slater that a Warriors pursuit of Davis could be used as a motivational tactic to lure James to Golden State."Now that LeBron has chosen to sign with the Sixers, that theory is moot. But could a Davis trade have similar trickle-down effects for another star? After all, James wouldn't be a Sixer right now had they not traded for Brown earlier this summer. The Warriors are the only team to have been publicly linked to Davis to date. Logan Murdock of The Ringer reported that "a small contingent of Golden State's front office" pushed for them to trade Jimmy Butler and draft picks for Davis, but his "injury history and desire for a new extension ultimately convinced team brass to stay put."Given Davis' age, injury history and looming extension, it wouldn't make sense for a rebuilding team to acquire him. A handful of title hopefuls could make sense as potential Davis landing spots, though. After flipping Brown for Paul Georgeand catching a ton of flak for itwould the Celtics consider cashing in Georges contract and draft capital to pair Davis with Jayson Tatum? Could the Spurs envision Davis as the missing piece alongside Wembanyama that can help put them over the top? (That would likely have to be a three-team deal with De'Aaron Fox going somewhere other than Washington.) Might the Detroit Pistons consider a larger shakeup if they lose ground in the East? The Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets both have intriguing young cores, although financial pressure will force the Magic to begin breaking apart as soon as the 2027-28 season. Might either team look to accelerate their title window by acquiring Davis? If so, both have plenty of big contracts to offer to Washington in return. If Davis declines his $62.8 million player option for the 2027-28 season, he'll be eligible to sign an extension all season. The Wizards might not feel compelled to extend him before he even plays a game for them. But how will Davis take to that? The NBA has gone mostly quiet since LeBron announced that he was joining the Sixers, but Davis' upcoming extension talks could be another flash point in a wild offseason.Unless otherwise noted, all stats via NBA.com, PBPStats, Cleaning the Glass or Basketball Reference. Arsenal summer signing Christos Tzolis throws down gauntlet to Premier League title rivals
New Arsenal signing Christos Tzolis has boldly declared the reigning Premier League champions are fully prepared to defend their crown, insisting that the "pressure" now rests squarely on their rivals to prevent them from securing back-to-back titles. The Greece international, who joined the Gunners in a 34 million move from Club Brugge, marked his debut with a goal in Saturdays 4-1 victory over Girona. Despite significant interest in Real Madrids Vinicius Junior and Newcastles Bruno Guimaraes with the latter potentially nearing a switch to the Emirates Stadium this week Tzolis remains the clubs sole outfield acquisition of the summer so far.Arsenal face some early season challenges, with key defender William Saliba set to miss the start of the campaign due to a back injury. Fitness doubts also linger over Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka following their interrupted World Cup commitments with England. However, when questioned about Arsenals readiness to defend their first title in 22 years, Tzolis was unequivocal. William Saliba is expected to miss the start of the season (Getty)"Of course. To defend a title, you dont have to think about it. Its more difficult for the other teams because the pressure is there, not on the team who won the title," he stated. He further emphasised the squads collective drive: "When I see training, and how hungry every player is for every training drill, that means everybodys ready to compete at the highest level. And when youre a player at Arsenal, you want to compete for every title thats possible. So, its not only about the Premier League, its about all the competitions we are playing for. And I see a clear mindset (from the players) and that everybody is on the same page to win titles here."Tzoliss journey to Arsenal has seen its share of ups and downs. He previously played 14 Premier League games for Norwich during the 2021-22 season, including his debut against Arsenal, but failed to score. Loan spells at FC Twente and Fortuna Dusseldorf followed before his move to Club Brugge in 2024, where he netted 43 times across 108 appearances, catching Arsenals attention.Expected to operate from Arsenals left flank, Tzolis arrives as a replacement for Leandro Trossard, who moved to Besiktas. Reflecting on his past experiences, the 24-year-old acknowledged the value of setbacks."In football its not always about playing at the highest level," he continued. "You can have some setbacks and difficulties. And I only learned a lot of things from this period at Norwich. Thats why I wanted to go to Dusseldorf to get the confidence back because I knew I have the skills and qualities to score goals. Even though it was not the highest level, like playing in the Premier League, its good to play every game and have the feeling that you can score and create and play well."He credits this period for his subsequent success: "Then I went to the next level, which is Club Brugge, and I had two amazing years there because of that, because I made the decision to go to Dusseldorf and regain my confidence. So in all, I have had three years in a row where Ive been important for those two teams, and I had a big role in an attacking part, and now I feel I am more than ready to be in the Premier League. Im not the same player I was in Norwich, 100 per cent. I feel that in my body and also in my mindset. Now its my time to show that Im capable of playing in the Premier League."
