Day 6 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Tuesday, August 4. I was in attendance, so here is a mixture of my personal report of the experience, and the usual aggregated media notes.Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report Day 6 (8/4/26)1. Live from Berea: I made my annual trip to Berea, Ohio on Tuesday, the third practice date open to fans, to watch Cleveland Browns training camp in person. My primary reason for going to camp each year is to enjoy the fan atmosphere at camp, as opposed to paying attention to practice itself (because for the most part, I can still summarize the big plays from all the other members of the media).My video recap of training camp (about a half hour long) can be found here.2. Construction of District 46 Taking Shape: In the image comparison below, if you roll over the slider, the image with grass was from last year (2025), and the image with construction is from today (2026). Signs on the fence say that it will be completed by Summer 2027, so this time next year, Id expect to be able to give a walking tour of the finished area.Weve seen renderings of the area before, but here was one of the banners on the fence. The middle of the picture would be looking down Pearl Street. The finished product is supposed to have a community field for youth, high school, and adults, a hotel, a sports medicine facility by University Hospitals, apartments, 30,000 square footage of retail, and a parking garage. Considering the mockup shows several surface lots, which already seem completed in large part, Im not sure if a garage is still in the works.I could not go down Pearl Street, because security was enforcing no pedestrians and were only waving members of the media through. That is presumably for construction purposes Im sure next year, anyone will be able to walk down the area. Unfortunately, they also got rid of the tiny neighborhood park where I would park my bicycle all this years when going to camp.3. Making My Way Inside: After checking out that initial construction, I made the regular journey down Third Street and then Beech Street, seeing houses sell parking spaces for $20 and a few houses having vendor stands in their yards.Gates opened at 12:30 pm, with practice set to start at 1:30 pm. I arrived closer to 1:00 pm, so I knew I wasnt going to be one of the first 500 fans to receive the giveaway (a Browns hat). This year, the Browns added a long set of bleachers opposite the field that has the tall grandstand bleachers, which means regardless of which field the team is practicing on, there should be ample seating space for everyone in attendance.The theme of the day was Superhero Day. Brownie the Elf had a Superman cape, and the dog mascot (which I dont remember seeing before) looked like Iron Man. I also saw the Puppy Pound, and they had a mock field of what a portion of the new stadium will look like in Brookpark.Below is a general shot of practice from the Grandstand Bleachers. You can see the construction taking place in the background.In the gallery below, a zoomed in shot shows the University Hospitals building being constructed. In front of that, but within the Browns fields, are the new bleachers along that side with plenty of seating.4. Heavy on the Runs Early: When its training camp time, fans look forward to the passing plays and how the quarterbacks are throwing. In the early part of team drills, though, it seemed like 80% of the calls were run plays. Hes a guy who gave 110%.[Hunt] hated Stefanski, he was horrible in the 4th quarter. He throws the ball instead of running the clock out. 4th and 2, we had P.J. Walker, instead of giving it to Hunt, Walker throws it to the helmet of the defender, and Hunt was screaming at Stefanski afterward.Stefanski never blamed anybody, he always said it was everybodys [fault]. The team was in pads today, will be in shells on Wednesday, and back to pads on Thursday. DT Sam Kamara left practice very early on. DT Mason Graham did not practice with a minor injury, and LB Carson Schwesinger was out again. WR Aaron Anderson left early with the medical staff.13. Report: Real Madrid closing in on 111m transfer after fresh breakthroughReal Madrid transfer latest, Rodri pursuit, Vinicius Junior contract talks and Yan Diomande progressReal Madrids summer has moved into one of those defining stretches when planning, power and personality all collide. According to The Athletic, the club are juggling several significant files at once, from their pursuit of Rodri and Yan Diomande to the increasingly urgent contract talks around Vinicius Junior. This is no ordinary week in Valdebebas. It feels like the sort of week that can shape the tone of a season before a competitive ball has even been struck.Madrid have always operated with a certain strategic confidence in the market, a sense that they know when to accelerate and when to wait. Yet there is also realism in this latest picture. The squad is evolving, younger talent is being bought and sold with precision, and the biggest names are forcing conversations that cannot drift much longer.Rodri move carries huge significanceThe attraction is obvious. Rodri combines elite technical security with tactical discipline, and he does so while carrying the gravitas of a serial winner. Madrids midfield has talent, youth and variation, but there is a specific authority to Rodris profile. He can govern matches without seeming hurried by them. That final element is key, because The Athletic adds, This is the main point of contention between the parties. Madrid have shown no willingness to accept this condition, out of fear of creating a knock-on effect among the squad.This is how power clubs think. Real Madrid are rarely negotiating with only one player. They are negotiating with the dressing room, with future agents, with precedent, with status and with internal harmony. A contract can be about economics on paper, but it is also about the culture a club is prepared to underwrite. If Madrid accept a renewal bonus that they believe unsettles the wage architecture, they risk opening a wider door.Yan Diomande deal shows Madrid are planning aheadWhile the biggest names dominate attention, there is also a revealing strand to Madrids work on younger talent. The Athletic reports that After a standstill that lasted several days, Madrid made progress over the weekend with RB Leipzig regarding the signing of 19-year-old Diomande. It adds that There is a general expectation that a deal will be sealed this week, with talks to take place today (Tuesday).This is the modern Madrid model in action. Sign elite young players before their price climbs into a different galaxy, place them in a demanding environment, and trust the clubs ecosystem to refine them. Yan Diomande, an Ivory Coast winger with high upside, appears to fit that thinking neatly. His absence from Leipzigs pre-season friendly, officially explained by illness, only heightened the sense that the move is nearing completion.Diomande would bring energy, unpredictability and developmental promise. He is not being discussed as a cosmetic addition. Rather, he looks like the next piece in Madrids long-term succession planning. The clever clubs recruit for now and for three years time simultaneously. Madrid are trying to do both.Madrid exits reveal a careful transfer strategyThere has also been purposeful movement in the opposite direction. Madrid have concluded a series of sales that speak to disciplined squad management and confidence in their talent pipeline. The arrival of Carlos Espi from Levante was announced on Thursday, with the clubs agreeing a lightning-fast transfer for the 21-year-old Spanish striker in a deal worth around 25million. That move came after the sale of Gonzalo Garcia to Fulham for around 40million.The structure of that Garcia deal is especially smart. Madrid will also retain 30 per cent of any future sale, a right of first refusal and exclusive buy-back clauses from the second season onwards. Those are the sort of clauses a club inserts when it likes the player, but also likes the timing of the market. Madrid are monetising development without entirely surrendering future control.The same report says Cesar Palacios has also joined Fulham in a similarly structured deal, this one worth around 10million. Elsewhere, academy graduates Fran Gonzalez and Victor Valdepenas have moved on, with Madrid inserting 50 per cent sell-on clauses in both cases. There is a pattern here. Madrid are not merely selling. They are extending influence into the players next chapter.One more name to monitor is Franco Mastantuono. The Athletic reports that he is expected to leave on loan after a difficult pre-season and that a resolution is expected this week. Madrid want him in Europe, preferably Spain, and have rejected the notion of a return to River Plate. Fiorentina are interested, among others. This is a reminder that not every talented youngster should be judged too quickly in the Bernabeu spotlight. Sometimes development needs distance, regular minutes and a less relentless stage.There are also mentions of Raul Asencio and Eduardo Camavinga being open cases from the clubs side, though neither player has indicated a desire to leave. Asencios injury complicates matters further. Endrick, meanwhile, despite rumours after Espis arrival, wants to stay. That detail matters because Madrids attacking depth chart is becoming increasingly competitive, and staying is a statement of intent.All of which leaves Madrid in a familiar position, active on several fronts, trying to preserve both excellence and authority. Rodri would add mastery. Vinicius Junior requires a final call. Yan Diomande signals the future. The sales show a club that still believes it can shape tomorrow while funding today.At Real Madrid, transfer windows are rarely just about names. They are about status, timing and control. This week, all three are in play.Our ViewAs a hopeful Real Madrid supporter, this report leaves you feeling the club are still thinking like Real Madrid should. Rodri is exactly the calibre required, a midfielder who could anchor big nights and make the whole team feel more intelligent. If Personal terms with Spains World Cup winner are not an issue, then the club should push hard and finish it. Players like this are rare.The Vinicius Junior situation is more complicated emotionally. Fans adore what he can do, the speed, the edge, the capacity to turn fear into panic for defenders. But no player can be bigger than the structure of the club. If he is truly open to lowering his demands, then all sides should find a solution quickly. If not, painful as it sounds, Madrid have to protect themselves. Letting a superstar drift towards the end of a contract would be poor business by any standard.Yan Diomande also sounds like the kind of move supporters should welcome. Madrid cannot only buy finished products. They have to keep spotting the next wave before everybody else does. Add Rodri, resolve Vinicius, bring in Diomande, and suddenly the picture looks balanced, ambitious and very much worthy of the badge.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially added two catchers to the roster after moving on from their two emergency options. At the trade deadline, the Dodgers traded for Hunter Feduccia and Ben Rortvedt, bringing in two familiar catchers into the fold. They were forced to do so as Dalton Rushing ended up on the injured list and Will Smith has been out for multiple weeks. Rushing is dealing with right arm irritation, leading to a 15-day IL stint at the very least, while Smith is three to four weeks away from returning, at the earliest. With the two top options out for the foreseeable future, the Dodgers were forced to make moves. LA traded for the two catchers who were on the team last year. The Dodgers announced that Hunter Feduccia had been added to the 40-man roster following his trade, while Ben Rortvedts contract was selected. To make room for both players, Eliezer Alfonzo and Chuckie Robinson were both moved out of the picture, with Alfonzo getting demoted down to Triple-A and Robinson being designated for assignment, the team announced.Sep 21, 2024; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Hunter Feduccia (67) removes his facemask between plays against the Colorado Rockies during the seventh inning at Dodger Stadium. What can the Dodgers expect from Rortvedt and Feduccia? Last season, in 44 games, Rortvedt hit .152/.240/.205 with a home run and put up a lackluster 31 wRC+. He was worth -0.5 fWAR due to his poor hitting, but he was solid defensively and had success helping the pitchers call the game. Feduccia has been hitting the ball relatively well this year for the Tampa Bay Rays in limited work. He has a .234/.306/.340 with a 82 wRC+. Both seem to offer a good deal of protection behind the dish, while Feduccia is in a better spot in terms of hitting. While they are not the long-term options, it will be interesting to see if Rortvedts struggles continue at the plate and if it allows Feduccia the chance to steal some more playing time.

In the meantime, here is who caught our eye during the two-hour session.Standout of the dayThe deep passing game: Kayshon Boutte, A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins, the biggest top-level receivers on New Englands roster, made several big plays on Tuesday. Their stat lines show how involved they were: Boutte caught a team-leading five passes in team drills, followed by Brown and Hollins hauling in four receptions each.Boutte did most of his damage against the second-string defense, and remains the factual WR4 behind Brown, Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas, but it is clear just how much trust both Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito have in him. He rewarded that trust with multiple downfield receptions on Tuesday including in both QBs two-minute drill situations.The same was true for Hollins, whose most notable play was a deep sideline shot from DeVito for what would have been a 40-plus-yard touchdown in a true game setting. Overall, the veteran has been productive the last two days and continues to be a key target in select situations.Brown, meanwhile, showed no signs of limitation from his dislocated thumb. In fact, the offseason trade pickup looked no less impressive than he had after suffering the injury on Monday. He did not have the same highlight-reel plays that Boutte and Hollins produced, but he still caught all four of his targets, including three on slants from Maye.Other performances of noteRB Terrell Jennings: Outside of what was roughly a 15-yard run, Jennings did not have any true standout moments on Monday. What qualifies him for this here list is something else: in his second practice back from the non-football injury list, he was part of the top punt team and the first running back up with the second-stringers. This meant that he took the spot in the rotation previously held by Lan Larison, who himself remains ahead of Jam Miller. There is a long way to go still, but that appears to be the current pecking order in the teams eyes.ED DreMont Jones and ED Elijah Ponder: New Englands top pass rush duo had a productive day on Tuesday. DreMont Jones, who lined up all over the defensive line, registered a pair of would-be sacks and another pressure against Drake Maye, while Ponder brought consistent pressure from the edge as well and in addition broke up a Maye pass intended for Hunter Henry.CB Channing Canada: The Patriots depth cornerback competition is one of the most intriguing on the roster, with nobody yet to truly elevate himself to earn a fifth and potential sixth spot behind Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones and Charles Woods. One of the issues is consistency, and Channing Canada fell victim to it on Tuesday. The undrafted free agent gave up big catches to both Mack Hollins and Kayshon Boutte as part of the second-string defense. Coming off a strong practice on Monday, it was a step back.CB Kobee Minor: While he did give up a handful of catches including to Kayshon Boutte and A.J. Brown, Minor had a positive day overall Tuesday a step in the right direction after a handful of challenging practices. He was competitive in coverage even on those receptions and also broke up a Behren Morton pass intended for Kyle Dixon. He later got his revenge on Boutte by forcing an incompletion on a curl route, and registered what would be a run stuff in a game situation. He also saw reps with the starter defense as well as the third-stringers.K Andy Borregales: New Englands kicker continued his good training camp on Tuesday, splitting the uprights on all seven of his field goal attempts. He had five regular tries of up to 52 yards and later also a pair of pressure kicks in two-minute situations one from 49 and the other from 54 yards. He was perfect on both and we now have the second-year kicker with 28 successful kicks this summer on 30 attempts.Other players worth mentioning include linebackers Chad Muma and Khalil Jacobs. The former remains the third off-ball linebacker, while the latter appears to have overtaken veteran free agency pickup K.J. Britt in the race for the LB4 role. In front of them, second-year DT Joshua Farmer had arguably his most impactful practice of the summer.The Patriots will hold their tenth practice of training camp on Wednesday, which is expected to be a walkthrough. Practice is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. ET.

(Photo by Michael Reaves/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesWhen Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby was asked about the teams defensive offseason additions at the beginning of training camp, he mentioned one player by name: linebacker Quay Walker.It was back in OTAs, Crosby replied, but I was out there doing a walkthrough, and Im getting in a stance, and were in the indoor [facility], Quay gave me a call and I just looked back. I looked at him and started just laughing out loud, and I dont even know why. Hes like, What are you laughing at, bro? Im like, Ive never seen a linebacker that big. Ive never played with a linebacker that looks like the size of me.The 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive lineman was rightfully impressed by the 6-foot-4, 240-pound linebackers size. According to MockDraftable, Walkers measurements at the 2022 NFL Combine are in the 91st, 61st and 84th percentiles when it comes to height, weight and wingspan (nearly 80 inches), respectively, for the position. Its worth noting that MockDraftables database goes back to 1999, when linebackers were heavier in the NFL, and 240-plus-pound second-level defenders are a rare breed in todays game. That change is due to the rise of the passing game in the league, shifting the priority to athletic linebackers who can hold up in coverage. Despite what his size might suggest, the Georgia product is also an elite athlete for the position. He tested very well at the combine to earn a 9.63 out of 10 Relative Athletic Score, highlighted by a 4.52-second 40-yard dash (9.65 RAS), 6.89-second three-cone time (9.29) and 10-foot-2 broad jump (8.69). For good measure, he also showed off plenty of strength during the pre-draft process by hitting 23 reps on the bench press.Physically, theres no reason why Walker isnt a perennial Pro Bowler and/or All-Pro in the NFL. However, heading into his fifth season, the only postseason recognition the four-year veteran has received so far is a mention on the PFWAs All-Rookie team in 2022.Walkers perception around the league does seem to be trending up. He was named an honorable mention in Jeremy Fowler of ESPNs column that polls NFL executives and coaches to rank the top off-ball linebackers, and the quote about the Raiders free-agent signing sheds some light on why he hasnt been a Pro Bowler or All-Pro yet.The light finally came on for him last year, an NFC assistant coach told Fowler. I thought he diagnosed the run game better than in the past. He has always been fast, long and can hit.When diving into his film this offseason, Walkers instincts have clearly held him back, especially in coverage. Hell have a great rep on one play where the physical traits mentioned above stand out, but then turn around and have a mental lapse where it looks like hes thinking too much and hesitates to give up a first down or worse. For context, Pro Football Focuscredited Walker with six forced incompletions during the 2025 regular season, tied for the fourth-most among linebackers. However, PFF also had him on the hook for the second-most receiving touchdowns allowed (five) at the position. Walkers instincts against the run are better and have improved over the years, as the quote above notes. But he still had moments of not being in the right spot that need to be cleaned up moving forward to reach his potential.So, what should the 26-year-old be focusing on during his first training camp in Las Vegas? The mental part of the game/position.
