He fell twice more, once while throwing a kick and later a punch. The referee stepped in once it was obvious McGregor had suffered an injury.It was later determined that McGregor to his ACL and MCL, the same injury he fell victim to in his first fight against Holloway in 2013. On Wednesday, McGregor provided an update following successful surgery and remains confident that he'll eventually return to the octagon. He's targeting next summer for a return date. The 38 year-old has one fight remaining on his UFC contract. "Surgery went excellent. I am confident," the Irishman wrote on Instagram.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. It has been a long wait for Diggs, who was released by the Patriots back in March, but the former four-time Pro Bowler is returning to his old stomping grounds in Maryland. Diggs signed with the Patriots last year and helped turn a losing franchise into a 14-3 team with the kind of swagger that hadn't been seen since Tom Brady was in New England. Granted, so many others had a lot to do with the turnaround, but Diggs brought an unwavering confidence with him that seeped through to the foundation of the organization. LAS VEGAS Diego Ferreira doesn't see the end of the road, at least not yet.The UFC lightweight veteran competes in his 27th professional fight this Saturday against Billy Quarantillo in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 284 (Paramount+), which takes place at the Meta APEX. Ferreira (20-7 MMA, 11-7 UFC) has been competing for 15 years, turned 41 earlier this year, and is on a two-fight losing streak, with his most recent bout being a TKO stoppage loss. Yet, despite having the signs many consider to signal the end of a fighting career, Ferreira's fighting spirit still remains strong."I want to enjoy it," Ferreira told MMA Junkie and other media at Wednesday's UFC Fight Night 284 media day. "I'm not looking to retire yet. A lot of people have been asking me that question, but right now I want to live the moment. I enjoy it here. I like to be a fighter. I like to be a professional fighter. It's something I took that far, and I never thought about having that kind of lifestyle. I want to enjoy it now, and I want to do things for me and have a purpose in my life. I want to do things for me, and I want to do this as long as I can."Ferreira enters as a favorite against Quarantillo (20-8 MMA, 6-5 UFC), who's also on a two-fight losing streak. Yan has been doing some version of this for five years, through the Marlins system, winter ball at home in the Dominican, a season in Japan and a Rockies spring training that turned him into a clip everybody had seen by April. Some nights it's finger guns. Some nights he calls the out himself, arm cocked like an umpire. He has gotten a lot of practice recently. He touched 101.6 miles per hour with his fastball this month and struck out better than half the hitters he faced. He also walked almost one in six. He turns 30 this month. The Angels signed him at 16, he blew out his elbow at 19, and he spent five years outside of affiliated baseball, roofing houses in Arizona and delivering appliances. So, he's earned the right to enjoy his time on the mound. It's just that other teams in the big leagues may not find it as enjoyable. Asked if the big leagues called for him to tame it down a bit, he said no. Interim Mets manager Andy Green told reporters that opposing clubs have mostly decided he's harmless, a guy enjoying himself rather than a guy running them down. Hopefully for Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, teams continue to feel that way down the stretch when they are fighting for a playoff spot against the Mets.
