SPORTS.YAHOO.COMFantasy Football: Using player projections to identify the best and worst ADPs on Yahoo, plus where to draft each position in 2026Anyone spending time to do fantasy football player projections has my respect, and we should take value in what they say, especially if we take a consensus of the top projectors. At Yahoo Fantasy, we have consensus projections from our Fantasy Plus parters, and today Ill be comparing the projections from them and other top-tier projectors to find the best and worst ADPs on Yahoo.Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL seasonOf course, we arent only drafting off of the best median projections in a game about ranges of outcomes, but this will give us a good baseline to work from in terms of the best times to draft each position. And for the nerds who care, Im using QB15, TE15, RB36 and WR40 as the replacement for this half-PPR data. That should account for leagues with flex spots and makes the data lean slightly more towards the flex-eligible positions, which seems sharp.Projections vs. Yahoo ADPHere's a look at 2026 projected fantasy points over replacement.Hayden WinksThe major takeaways from the chart are QBs are too expensive and the early round RBs are still projecting well.RB Targets & FadesHere's a look at projected fantasy points vs. Yahoo ADP for running backs.Hayden WinksTo nobodys surprise, Jahmyr Gibbs is by far the most valuable projected player over replacement, to the point that the combination of the 12th and 13th player only matches his score. In other words, if you pick your draft slot this year, its 1.01.The best RB values are Breece Hall (36th ADP vs. 22nd projected overall), Javonte Williams (34th vs. 24th), Jaylen Warren (73rd vs. 57th), Tony Pollard (85th vs. 67th), Travis Etienne Jr. (41st vs. 32nd) and Cam Skattebo (40th vs. 31st). Ironically, the traditional RB Dead Zone is showing value in general. In fact, every RB in Yahoo ADP ranging from RB15 to RB25 is being drafted after their projected finish in fantasy points over replacement. There is real risk of their role shrinking, so this is how it should be, but we cant really double count that risk either, especially in standard and half-PPR leagues. The worst RB values are Chuba Hubbard (67th ADP vs. 95th projected overall), RJ Harvey (90th ADP vs. 115+) and Blake Corum (95th vs. 115+). Hubbards ADP needs to drop with Jonathon Brooks being healthy to start training camp, while Harvey and Corum are high-upside backups priced more aggressively than others with contingent upside. At the same time, the early-round RBs who are showing extremely minimal negative value are Kyren Williams (28th ADP vs. 29th projected overall), Omarion Hampton (17th vs. 18th) and Jadarian Price (63rd vs. 66th).Advice: Have three RBs by the Jaylen Warren/Tony Pollard range.WR Targets & FadesHere's a look at 2026 projected fantasy points vs. Yahoo ADP for wide receivers.Hayden WinksThe first thing to note is the default settings on Yahoo are two WRs, which would completely change the calculus of this exercise. I believe many of you are in leagues with three WRs and a flex, so I made the cutoff WR48. If the cutoff was closer to WR36 in these default leagues, then every receiver would drop in the overall rankings today. Keep that in mind.In general, WRs have the most inconsistent ADPs vs. projections. There are pockets where there are both great and terrible picks at ADP based on projections, so figuring out why the projections love Xavier Worthy and dont like Marvin Harrison Jr. or Brian Thomas Jr. would be interesting to dig into later on.But the best WR values in the early rounds are Rashee Rice (31st ADP vs. 20th projected overall), Terry McLaurin (55th vs. 38th), Jameson Williams (60th vs. 45th), Alec Pierce (78th vs. 54th) and Christian Watson (68th vs. 56th). There arent any bad values amongst receivers in the first two rounds, so this is the true target list after drafting best player available early. The sleepers per these projections are Josh Downs (121st vs. 81st), Xavier Worthy (133rd vs. 88th), WanDale Robinson (147th vs. 98th), Matthew Golden (151st vs. 108th), Khalil Shakir (167th vs. 110th), Romeo Doubs, Jalen Coker, Jayden Higgins and KC Concepcion. Some of these players are even better as full-PPR scammers. The worst values are the middle-round WRs, and I have to say that I do disagree with a couple of them. By fantasy points over replacement, DeVonta Smith (27th ADP vs. 37th projected overall), Tee Higgins (32nd vs. 41st), Harrison (77th vs. 85th) and BTJ (82nd vs. 90th) are the worst picks. The incoming rookies are also projected as slight losses, though its not to the point that they are actually mispriced when accounting for their ceilings. They are Carnell Tate (75th vs. 79th), Jordyn Tyson (88th vs. 94th) and Makai Lemon (98th vs. 102nd).Advice: Dont go too overweight on WRs early, as there are nice values after 50th overall. I like having exactly two WRs through five or six rounds this year, especially in 2-WR leagues.QB Targets & FadesHere's a look at 2026 projected fantasy points vs. Yahoo ADP for quarterbacks.Hayden WinksIn general, QBs are being drafted far too early on Yahoo, at least compared to this fantasy points over replacement calculation. And this is only half PPR, where the collective ranking for QBs would drop even further in full PPR. None of the QBs are being drafted after their expected finish in overall fantasy points over replacement. Zero for 15. Not great. The QBs who are closest to their finish are Jayden Daniels (52nd ADP vs. 59th projected overall), Jalen Hurts (56th vs. 62nd), Brock Purdy (99th vs. 100th), Bo Nix (104th vs. 106th) and Matthew Stafford (101st vs. 109th). That largely matches with my favorite targets, even before seeing this data. Id also note Kyler Murray (109th ADP), Jared Goff (116th), Jordan Love (132nd) and Baker Mayfield (138th) are within 18 projected points as the QB15, so they are also nice values. The worst values are Justin Herbert (66th ADP vs. 105th projected overall), Joe Burrow (42nd vs. 75th) and Caleb Williams (71st vs. 97th). All of them have multiple stacking partners ahead of them, which could be driving their ADPs up. A simple rule would be to only consider those QBs at cost if you have their top receivers, and even then, it may not be smart.Advice: Fifth-round Jayden Daniels or Jalen Hurts, or grab two QBs after 100th overall.TE Targets & FadesHere's a look at 2026 projected fantasy points vs. Yahoo ADP for tight ends.Hayden WinksIn general, TEs are being drafted near their projected finishes in fantasy points over replacement, though the TE1/2 border provides slightly more value. The top target is Mark Andrews (115th ADP vs. 78th projected overall), who faces the worst target competition of the decade with his backup TEs out of the way and WR2 up for grabs. Hes unlikely to be the same yards-after-catch option, but if Lamar Jackson returns to an MVP-level, then Andrews can just run pure with TDs to overcome that. The worst values are Tucker Kraft (59th ADP vs. 70th projected overall) and Trey McBride (24th vs. 30th), who are both elite players on tape but face some red flags with injury or environment. I have Kraft as a negative regression candidate in Yahoo Plus, too.Advice: Scoop up a TE who is falling after ADP or aligns with a QB stack. Values are fair.0 Comments 0 Shares 89 Views 0 Reviews -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSpurs trade idea brings in Stephen Curry and doesnt move any young starsSpurs trade idea brings in Stephen Curry and doesnt move any young stars originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The idea that the San Antonio Spurs can make a blockbuster deal over the next year or two continues to pop up.The Spurs, not only having multiple first-round picks to move on from but also a lot of young players, are probably in just as good of a position as any team in the NBA if the right player becomes available. That's part of the reason why many suggested they could trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks before he was traded to the Miami Heat. The Spurs obviously didn't get too involved there, but one writer recently floated the idea of making another massive trade instead. The idea here would be a lot different, with the trade proposal landing Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.Spurs would receive: Stephen Curry"Warriors would receive: DeAaron Fox, Luke Kornet, 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), 2028 first-round pick (via SAS), 2030 first-round pick (via SAS) and 2031 first-round pick (via SAC) all unprotected. The 2031 first-rounder (swap) from the Sacramento Kings is a highly valued pick around the league, which the Spurs landed as part of the three-team sign-and-trade deal that brought DeMar DeRozan to Sacramento from the Chicago Bulls. Similarly, the unprotected 2027 Hawks pick could be of real value next year when the Warriors could have multiple shots at landing their next franchise star in the Draft, Sai Mohan wrote. There have been some small rumblings suggesting that Curry could be traded. I don't really know where those are coming from outside of the fact that the team has struggled a bit in recent years and doesn't have a whole lot of assets to improve. However, Curry playing for a different team just doesn't seem too likely. The Spurs would also be moving on from a whole lot here for an aging player, so it doesn't really feel like a realistic idea for either side.More NBA news:Draymond Greens contract allows Warriors to trade for Trey MurphyDraymond Green contract gives Golden State chance to trade himRaptors attempted to trade $107M youngster for $186M centerLakersgiven worrisome injury reality about Walker KesslerLakers get Jonathan Kuminga update that involves team from same division0 Comments 0 Shares 92 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRed Sox's Jarren Duran Finally Heating Up At PlateBoston Red Sox outfielder Jarren DuranIt feels like forever ago when Jarren Duran was an All-Star, and this year has certainly not gone the way he hoped it would.Duran is hitting .206 with a .620 OPS in 106 games this year. He has played nearly every day thanks to the injury to Roman Anthony, but he simply has not gotten the job done. He admitted recently that he thought he was going to be released before the trade deadline due to his poor play.Duran was a hot name in trade rumors in the offseason and at last year's deadline. Perhaps that was all weighing on him, but when the trade deadline passed, he was still on the Red Sox.I thought that I wasnt going to be here, which was understandable the way Ive been playing, said Duran, per the Boston Globe's Alex Speier. Im just thankful that I have the opportunity to continue this run with this team and this organization, and hopefully make a playoff push.Looking for the perfect gift for a baseball player in your life? Check out our brand new baseball lifestyle brand!Well, Duran is starting to make a bigger impact at the plate. In his last five games, he has eight hits and a .444/.474/.833 slash line with two homers. He has also stolen two bases and has struck out just twice. Three of his last five outings have been multi-hit efforts.Duran led all of baseball in doubles and triples in 2024, and led the American League in triples last year. He was an extra-base hit machine for two years, but this year has not yielded the same results. However, if he can stay hot through the end of the season, the Red Sox offense could be a real problem for opposing teams in the postseason.More MLB:Casey Mize Wears Blame After Disastrous Padres Debut0 Comments 0 Shares 96 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGrading Jonathan Taylor's $44 million commitment to the ColtsJonathan Taylor has always been a good NFL running back. On occasion, he's emerged as the best back in the league.2025 was one such season, even if his argument ran out of steam as the wheels fell off for a team that quickly rose to the top of the AFC, then plummeted back down the ranks. Taylor was on pace for 1,936 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns at 6.0 yards per attempt in the Indianapolis Colts' 8-2 start. That dropped to 1,083, seven and 3.3 yards per handoff over the final seven games of the year as his quarterback flipped from an injured Daniel Jones to Riley Leonard and a 44-year-old Philip Rivers. The Colts lost all those games, but general manager Chris Ballard is undeterred. He's spent the 2026 offseason effectively running it back -- retaining key players like Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce while making modest additions elsewhere. Now, that includes Taylor. On Thursday, he signed a two-deal contract extension with a base value of $44 million, a maximum value of $47 million and a massive $39 million guarantee. With Ballard's seat hotter than ever, this could be the last extension he gives out in Indianapolis. Will he regret it? Let's break down why it might, or might not, work. The deal: Indianapolis Colts sign RB Jonathan Taylor to a two-year, $44 million extension ($39 million guaranteed and incentives that could escalate the total price to $47 million)Taylor wasn't a hold-in like Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs, but he was in the final year of a three-year, $42 million extension with the Colts -- one that had no guaranteed money left for 2026. While the 27-year-old didn't reset the tailback market, he still landed firmly in its upper crust. His $22 million annual average salary trails only Robinson's $22,250,000 (and, in short time, will also trail the $22.3 million or so Gibbs signs for in Detroit). His $39 million in guarantees is third-most, trailing Robinson and Jeremiyah Love's $53 million rookie contract. 88.6 percent of his contract is guaranteed, highest among any running backs outside their rookie deals and better than Robinson's 76.4 percent guaranteed deal. That's big money for a player who has vacillated between good and great over his NFL career, occasionally in the same season. His raw stats remain impressive. He rushed for more than 3,000 yards in 31 games the last two seasons. He's taken at least 20 handoffs in 38 of his 85 pro games, which has been vital for a team searching for its quarterback answer since Andrew Luck retired the season before Taylor entered the league. He stepped up his receiving game in 2025 to bolster Daniel Jones, setting career highs in receptions (46), receiving yards (387) and yards after catch over expected (80). But drilling down suggests there's a limit to all that. Taylor is efficient, but the advanced stats paint him more squarely in that "good" category. He finished third in total rushing yards last season but fifth in total rush yards over expected (RYOE) and 17th in RYOE per attempt. 129 of his 190 RYOE came in a single game -- but what a game it was, an absolute clinic against the Atlanta Falcons in Germany. He recorded a negative RYOE each of his final five games to finish 2025.Fortunately, much of that can be explained by the swap to Rivers and Leonard at quarterback and opposing defenses with absolutely nothing to worry about in the passing game. Taylor actually got stronger to finish the 2024 season. 184 of his 194 RYOE came in his final four games that winter (his 0.65 RYOE/touch ranked 14th among qualified runners). It didn't make a difference -- Indianapolis remained mired in its "8/9 wins, no playoff" phantom zone -- but it helps reassure the Colts he's not yet wearing down despite his workload. So does his six runs last fall where he hit at least 20 miles per hour on NFL tracking devices. That matched a career high, set in each of his first two seasons in the league.Ultimately, this deal will come down to availability. Ballard has indicated he thinks 2025 was a breakthrough season derailed by injury and he's happy to see it through in 2026. That means a steady dose of carries for Taylor and more utility as a receiver. If he averages 25 touches per game and above average numbers doing so, he'll be a good value even if he isn't one of the league's most efficient running backs since so much of the offense flows through him. Since this deal only takes him through his age 29 season, there's a good chance it pays off, even as his odometer nears 1,800 total NFL rushes/receptions.The trade-off, however, was making that heavily concentrated guarantee in order to extricate the team from Taylor in 2029 should things go sour. What happens if Taylor lives up to his contract, the Colts remain in neutral and now he has to negotiate with a new general manager approaching his 30s? Will he be as patient with a new regime if the one that drafted him is swept away? Could the Colts regret not spacing this deal out more and adding an extra year? Or will this all be a moot point when he quietly ages out of his prime or Indy merely re-ups him for another two years and, oh, let's say $52 million two years from now? That's a problem for future Chris Ballard, who could also be unemployed Chris Ballard. Right now, the concern is reclaiming 2025's potential. The cost, between Taylor, Pierce and Jones, is about $95 million per year.Grade: BThis article originally appeared on For The Win: Grading Jonathan Taylor's $44 million commitment to the Colts0 Comments 0 Shares 106 Views 0 Reviews
