The English Football Association has sent its letter withdrawing its support for Gianni Infantinos re-election as Fifa president after his scrapped World Cup privatisation bid.It comes after Infantino sent a letter apologising for his highly controversial plan, with senior leaders of the world governing body reaffirm[ing] their full support of the Swiss-Italian following a crisis meeting on Wednesday.This letter is said to have changed nothing for the FA who have gone ahead with the retraction of their endorsement, The Independent understands, as has been planned since the beginning of the week.Wales became the first member association to officially withdraw its support for Infantino on Monday in an attempt to force him out, with the likes of Serbia, Sweden and Finland following suit.The FA has withdrawn its support of Gianni Infantino (PA Wire)Infantino, whose decade-long reign is under severe pressure, announced last Friday night that he was shelving the widely-denounced plan, which had been rejected by three confederations after first being revealed earlier in the week.Concacaf, the confederation for North America and the Caribbean, along with the Asian Football Confederation, fumed over the lack of consultation while Europes governing body Uefa threatened to boycott all Fifa competitions, including next years Womens World Cup and the 2030 World Cup, unless the plan was scrapped.Uefa confirmed that it had lost confidence in Infantinos leadership after he went back on his plans, criticising the shabby, backroom deal, and has now doubled down on its boycott intention after Fifa gave its backing for Infantino to stay on as president.The letter released by Fifa has also resulted in further heavy criticism from global players union FifPro and South American confederation Conmebol, who had so far supported Infantino.Prime minister Andy Burnham said that Infantino is the wrong man to lead Fifa, while the FA called for a full and robust review into his leadership as the fallout of his U-turn continues.Infantino also became the subject of criticism from within his administration, with senior adviser Carlos Cordeiro resigning over the plans, while Fifa chief operating officer Kevin Lamour claimed the president had deceived Fifa staff.The proposal involved establishing Fifa Forward Enterprise and selling a 20 per cent stake to private investors, with Joshua Kushners Thrive Eternal reportedly earmarked as the lead investor group. He is the brother of Jared Kushner, who is the son-in-law of US president Donald Trump.Trump, however, insisted he had not spoken about the sell-off plan with Infantino before it was scrapped.There are calls for Infantino to resign, but as it stands he will run for re-election in March 2027.

The Cleveland Browns are entering Year 2 of a rebuild and, on paper, this team is nowhere near contention for a playoff spot. The looming QB question continues to be a concern for many. Despite that, Browns owner Jimmy Haslem spoke to the media a few days ago and gave interesting comments surrounding the team this season.As it stands, the Browns win total for the year is at 5.5 on multiple sports betting sites. Fans will likely roll their eyes at this statement, but Haslem seems to have some form of confidence that this Browns team will be better than last year. Trading star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams might have sped up the team to potentially punt the season, but instead of selling, the team chose to retain key players. Cornerback Denzel Ward received a new extension; the same can be said for safety Grant Delpit. Considering that the Browns have an easier strength of schedule, the odds of the team winning more than 5.5 games are plausible; however, many things have to go their way for that to happen. Offensively, the unit has talent but major question marks; defensively, the unit lacks a true alpha, and head coach Todd Monken is entering his 1st year as a head coach. Rebuilding teams can often be ahead of schedule, as weve seen before, but dont expect Cleveland to be one of those teams. Its possible that this team is a fringe playoff contender next season, but this season expect more of what happened last season, even if they add a win or two. The team will not be good enough to be in playoff contention but not bad enough to be a top 3 team picking in the upcoming NFL Draft. After eight weeks of practice, Kentucky Basketball had a tight battle on the winners board going into the last summer practice, and he invited Kentucky fans to attend at Rupp Arena on Thursday morning.The winners board, which tracks players wins across drills and scrimmages, has a tie for first between Malachi Moreno and Jerone Morton at 55 wins. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered training camp with plenty of options at cornerback, but exactly where everyone will play remained one of the bigger questions for Todd Bowles' defense.We may now have a better idea of the plan.After visiting Buccaneers training camp, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Bowles has "no reservations" about playing second-year cornerback Jacob Parrish on the outside despite his 5-foot-10 frame.That's significant because Parrish spent much of his rookie season working from the slot. Moving him outside would create an opening for fourth-round rookie Keionte Scott to step directly into the nickel role.Scott's versatility was one of his biggest selling points coming out of Miami, but the Bucs may have a more defined role for him early in his career if Parrish proves he can handle outside duties.That doesn't mean Tampa Bay has settled on its starting combination.Zyon McCollum appears to have one outside job secured, while Fowler noted that the other starting position will have to be earned during camp. Benjamin Morrison has returned after being banged up, while Damarion Williams is also receiving opportunities on the outside.The flexibility gives Bowles several different ways to build his secondary.Parrish winning the outside job could be the domino that makes everything else fall into place. It would allow Scott to focus on the slot while Morrison and Williams provide additional competition and depth outside.For now, though, Tampa Bay isn't handing out the job opposite McCollum.
