Eintracht Braunschweig 2026/27 season preview: Transfers, pre-season, predicted lineup & predictions
Eintracht Braunschweig 2026/27 season preview: Transfers, pre-season, predicted lineup & predictionsSurely no one expected that Eintracht Braunschweig got off to an outstanding start with a 6-1 victory away at Magdeburg. However, the magical performance shouldnt change their goal for the season. How was their 2025/26?Thats because its only with a single goal difference that Braunschweig secured automatic safety in the final matchday of the season. Had they lost more than 1-0 to Schalke or Greuther Frth added a fourth against Fortuna Dsseldorf, who also finished with the same points tally as the two clubs, the Lions wouldve entered the playoff tie against RW Essen. Some could even point out to the fact that Braunschweig started the 2025/26 with two victories, with the first one away at Magdeburg like this term. However, they only had one win in their next 12 matches. They also picked up form at the end of the year before collecting only six points from their first eight outings in 2026. Narrow wins over Kaiserslautern and Dynamo Dresden eventually helped them to finish just above the relegation zone in 15th place. The CoachIncluding Saturdays big win, 48-year-old Lars Kornetka won four of his first ten games in charge of the club. The Wrselen-native was able to work with some of the top coaches in world football, starting from his roles as a video analyst.Pep Guardiola, Ralf Rangnick, Roger Schmidt and Huub Stevens are among the head coaches for whom Kornetka assisted in varying capacities. The former journalist is now preparing for his first full season as a head coach.TransfersBraunschweigs new signings delivered immediately in the 6-1 trouncing of Magdeburg. Borussia Mnchengladbach loanee Jan Urbich scored on his 2. Bundesliga debut, while Samuele Di Benedetto was a constant threat from set-pieces.Fellow attackers Yann Sturm and Junior Z also have potential to help the side in the final third. However, the captain Ron-Thorben Hoffmann and the four defenders were all at the club last season.Pre-season preparationsBraunschweig were winless in their last three friendly games, including a narrow defeat to Championship side Southampton after a goal from former Kln and HSV attacker Damion Downs.Nonetheless, the team that only scored once in those three games started the league campaign with half-dozen goals away from home.Predicted starting lineupThere are few reasons to make changes for Kornetka after the first starting lineup of the season produced a historic performance. However, former prospect Noah Katterbach and last seasons regular Johan Gmez will hope to push for starting berths.Florian Flick will be a key player in midfield after his loan move turned permanent in the summer. Fellow new signing Maximilian Entrup, who won the Austrian league and cup with LASK last season, will provide competition for Urbich to be the starting striker.Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Hoffmann ; Aydin, Ehlers, Frenkert, Sanchez; Flick, Di Benedetto, Marie; Opoku, Urbich, SturmFixture listBraunschweigs first home game will be against Bochum before they entertain Union Berlin at EINTRACHT-Stadion the following week in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The final game of the league season will be against last seasons Bundesliga cellar-dwellers St. Pauli.Although they will now face two more teams from Lower Saxony due to Wolfsburgs relegation and Osnabrcks promotion, the real derby for Braunschweig will always be against Hannover. The two teams will meet on matchday 9 and 26 this season.Expectations & PredictionItll be tough to predict relegation after they dispatched Magdeburg on the opening matchday, but they should still be prepared for another fight until the very end. With newly-promoted Osnabrck scoring three goals away at 2024/25 Europa Conference League participants Heidenheim, there is another sign that anything could happen at the start of a season.

Rouven Kasper details which markets Bayern Munich will be targeting
FC Bayern Munich China Managing Director Rouven Kasper speaks at the Soccerex China convention in Zhuhai, in China's southern Guangdong province on April 17, 2018. The event is the first China-focused convention put on by London-based Soccerex, which organizes gatherings of leading figures in the football business from around the world. / AFP PHOTO / GREG BAKER (Photo credit should read GREG BAKER/AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty ImagesRouven Kasper joined Bayern Munich on 1. January, 2026, as the clear favorite for the role of board member for marketing. The former VFB Stuttgart employee has gotten to work, though, and has identified which vrious international markets the Bavarians will look to target. He lays this out clearly in an interview with Tz.Our target markets are clearly defined. In the Americas, our focus has so far been on North and Central America, but South America is becoming increasingly exciting, Kasper explained (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). Asia is also a clear priority, and we should be looking more closely at countries like India, Indonesia, and Thailand. We also need to be willing to try new approaches there.Building the clubs reputation in foreign markets has been one of Bayerns goal for many years now, but Kasper brings with him the desire to target other countries than the club did previously. Certainly, it seems Kasper is bringing new energy into the proceedings.Join the conversation!Sign up for a user accountand get:New, improved notifications system!Fewer adsCreatecommunity postsComment on articles, community postsRec comments, community posts

    Sooo ... About Last Night
PERTH, AUSTRALIA - MAY 02: Quillan Salkilld of Australia reacts after a knockout victory against Beneil Dariush of Iran in a lightweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at RAC Arena on May 02, 2026 in Perth, Australia. (Photo by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa LLC)Last night (Sat., Aug. 8, 2026), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) ventured forth to Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, for UFC Vegas 120. In the main event, Australias top prospect, Quillan Salkilld, aimed to take another step up opposite veteran grinder, Mateusz Gamrot. In addition, this latest visit to the Apex was notable as Darren Elkins last ride and featured more than a couple of quality up-and-comers throughout the night.Lets take a closer look at the best performances and highlight finishes of the evening:Salkilld Silences All DoubtersSalkilld was remarkably impressive in his first-ever main event.Right away, he was picking apart Gamrot on the feet. Feinting high and low while jabbing and kicking at different targets, Salkilld landed crisp shots. A counter hook thrown as his kicking leg reset floored Gamrot, forcing the Polish veteran to dive onto a leg. In the ensuing scrambles, Gamrot attempted all sorts of trickery and transitions, but he couldnt ground or seriously threaten the young Aussie.Back on the feet, Salkilld went right back to pushing his advantage. He stuck a few more punches and then timed an effortless double leg takedown. Half a beat later, he was jumping onto the back. Gamrot bucked and spun impressively in an effort that wouldve shaken off the vast majority of the division, but Salkilld stayed glued to his back.A moment later, the arm was under the chin. This was a rout, a completely one-sided smashing. Not only did Salkilld look massive and imposing in the cage, but he showed the skills to bully a top-notch wrestler as well. He beat up Gamrot at every opportunity and left him looking a step behind. Unlike Charles Oliveira or Dan Hooker, he didnt have to walk through a bunch of punches in the process! This was clean work from an obvious physical talent. Salkilld looks ready to contend right now, which is a problem in a fairly logjammed division. Id love to see him booked against the truly elite class next, somebody along the lines of Paddy Pimblett or Max Holloway. He deserves to be in those conversations.Billy Q Charges Into The Wood ChipperCarlos Diego Ferreira landed an ungodly number of right hands on the face of Billy Quarantillo.Billy Q is known as a pressure fighter, but his strategy was a little baffling here. He ran straight at his veteran opponent and just refused to recognize the offense coming back in his direction. Time and time again, Ferreira would pop a jab, slip a shot, and then crack Quarantillo across the jaw with a beautiful right hand. Ferreira is a sharp striker, sure, but it was really odd to see an experienced UFC fighter not even reacting to a power shot that continually landed. He might as well have kept his eyes closed.Did Quarantillos pressure ever pay dividends? Not really. Ferreira eventually got tired hes 42 years old! and spent the final minute or so stalling on the ground, but why not? He was WAY ahead on the scorecards and still won the third too. Even while dog-tired, Ferreira could step into a 1-2 and land almost at will he was only limited by his energy reserves.Quarantillo used to be better than this. At 37 years of age himself, one has to wonder if the damage absorbed against the likes of Cub Swanson, Edson Barboza, and Shane Burgos has left Quarantillo without any reaction time left.Meanwhile, Ferreira called out King Green and Jim Miller for potential matchups of the Lightweight old guard, and both fights sound like a lot of fun.Welterweights Brightest New Prospect26-year-old Ty Miller used Billy Ray Goff as a punching bag.Goff came into the fight gamely, doing his best to close distance on the 62 Miller. Unfortunately for Goff, hes not really a clinch fighter or takedown artist. He likes the pocket, but thats a hard game to play when Millers range is about a foot longer. Goff tried to wrestle and grind, but really he just ate a ton of jabs while trying to press forward.Following an unfamiliar game plan is fatiguing. Doing so while swallowing a dozen jabs is exhausting. By round two, Goff was so tired that he could barely keep his hands up, let alone throw meaningful punches or actually shoot a takedown. He took a hellacious beating in the second, as Miller enjoyed the time of his life playing target practice with a live opponent.Embarrassingly, Goffs incompetent corner sent him out for the third with the useless advice of dont engage rather than throwing in the towel. Predictably, the contest lasted about 15 more seconds, just enough time for Goff to eat a few more hard punches to his already-damaged face. With this win, Thriller improves to 2-0 inside the Octagon. Its great to see a rangy MMA fighter working behind his jab like a boxer Miller doesnt give away a centimeter of that 77.5 inch reach! Hes clearly a bright prospect, even if there are still unknowns about his general grappling prowess.Additional ThoughtsYadier del Valle defeats Darren Elkins via first-round knockout: Well there was always a strong chance this happens. Del Valle played the matchup well, avoiding the grappling prowess of his 42-year-old foe. Rather than engage on the canvas, he broke away from an early takedown attempt with a big left hand that rattled Elkins. One more power shot spoiled his retirement bout for good, returning del Valle to the win column in style. Its a rough ending for Elkins, but the legacy of The Damage remains unaffected.Diyar Nurgozhay defeats Bruno Lopes via first-round knockout (highlights): Nurgozhay has absolutely no wrestling or grappling. He was taken down by an unconscious man in this fight, and he got kimurad by Brendson Ribeiro of all people in his UFC debut. Fortunately, the Kazakh finisher can crack! In this strikers duel, Nurgozhays left hand was on fire. He worked out Lopes defenses quickly and started nailing him with the left uppercut repeatedly. Once that threat was established, he laced his left hand overtop and through the guard as well, tagging Lopes over and over until The Brazilian Cowboy crumbled. Lopes displayed some real heart in defeat, but he took a real beating here.Jose Montanha defeats Louie Sutherland via first-round rear naked choke: Ahh, Heavyweight grappling, the gift that keeps on giving. These two burly the UFC broadcasts chosen adjective big men collided in the clinch within the opening 15 seconds. After some pummeling, Montanha tripped his foe to the mat. Sutherland actually did a nice bridge into single leg get-up attempt to nearly stand but when forced back to the turtle position, he attempted a fat man roll. It backfired horribly! Sutherland ended up flattened out and stuck on his belly, allowing 260-pound Montanha to easily sit on him. More than the choke itself, that position against such a large man is checkmate. Still, tapping to a rear naked choke that isnt locked in yet? NOT GOOD! Miles Johns defeats Gianni Vazquez via first-round knockout (highlights): For a solid couple minutes, it looked like Vazquez was about to score a short-notice upset while fighting up a weight class. He found his timing first and was leading the dance, feinting and poking at Johns early with his distance punches. Before long, he was building combinations and landing hard shots. He stunned Johns with strikes and briefly put his butt to the floor, but Chapo is a gritty veteran. As Vazquez tried to follow up and force the finish, Johns feinted low and came up high with a thudding left hook that completely turned the tables. For the second time in two different 48-hour opportunities, Vazquez brought the fight and looked good in defeat hopefully hell get a full camp next time.Juliana Miller defeats Ravena Oliveira via second-round rear naked choke (highlights): Miller needed this win badly. The former Ultimate Fighter champion lost three of four UFC bouts after winning TUF, putting her back to the wall here. Thankfully, Miller was able to right the ship, getting her wrestling going early to great effect. From top position, the jiu-jitsu fighter was actually quite aggressive with her ground and pound, which went a long way in opening up her guard passing and positional advancement. Early in the second, Miller was able to overwhelm Oliveira on the canvas, sneaking behind the Brazilian for an RNC victory. For complete UFC Vegas 120 results and play-by-play, click here.

The club took a decision which [Atltico CEO] Miguel ngel [Marn] explained well.We are very happy with Julin. From the sporting side of things, we will help him keep growing and improving so that he can give us what he has given us over these two years at the club so far, which was a mountain of things.Baras first offer of 100 million was rejected by Atltico and expired at the end of July, but the Catalans plan to make a new and improved bid, which they hope will convince Atltico along with Julins request. The Blaugrana have reportedly already secured an alternative to Julin and are ready to close the deal if Atltico reject them again.
