The 2026 college football season is just around the corner, and the Virignia Cavaliers are a part of a select few programs that will kick off their year before the bulk of the nation. Tony Elliott is coming off his best year so far as the headman for the Cavaliers, coming off an eleven-win season and an appearance in the ACC Championship game. After a successful season in 2025, excitement surrounding the program feeds into the Virignia faithful for the 2026 season, especially with the added bonus of a proven, talented roster taking the field this year. After a decade-plus of leg room and spacing out being considered a perk of going to a UVA football game, all signs point to a positive change in attendance starting with Week 0 against NC State, where all trends and signs point to a sellout. Associate AD- Revenue Generation & Marketing, Eric Ward says, The Sell Out Scott campaign continues to progress really well, we are tracking on a fantastic crowd, and have every expectation that we are executing the plan we laid out to actually sell the game out.Ward added that we have blown past where we finished season ticket sales last year, with steam continuing to pick up. I am not here to tell you how to have fun at a football game; I am here to give you my two cents from a guy who has mastered the ability to have fun at a Virginia football game and is familiar with all the changes around Scott Stadium and the overall fan experience for this coming season.Step One: Get to Charlottesville early This will forever and always be my number one. Saturdays in the fall are menat for college football. Being a fan is the only task you are assigned to that day, and part of being a good fan is showing up and showing up early; it serves as a benefit to you as well. You will have more time to tailgate, more time to walk around and take in the beautiful campus that THE University of Virginia has to offer, and, maybe most importantly, you will have more time to mentally prepare yourself, surrounded by the comfort of like-minded fans for the pigskin war that is about to take place inside that beautiful stadium planted in the middle of campus.Step Two: Create some sort of tradition If you dont have this already and you have been attending Virginia football games for a while, then shame on you. IF you are new to this, then listen up. Create a tradition that is niche to the University of Virginia. Whether its a shot at Boylan Heights with your group before the game to ensure victory, a quick stroll through The Corner to calm your nerves before kickoff, or a toast at your tailgate. Do something, anything, because a tradition that is niche to your team and the place you are at will keep you coming back and get you even more amped for the upcoming game. Step Three: Arrive at the stadium well before kickoffThere are many perks to this, but this has been one of the main issues I have seen. Thirty-five minutes before kickoff is my ideal time when attending Scott Stadium as a fan, and I recommend you do the same. It gives you plenty of time to hit up any of the highly sought-after food trucks in Scott Stadium, check out the new merch options, and just scan the premises/take in all the beauty Scott Stadium has to offer, all in plenty of time to get to your seat before all the pregame events take place. Step Four: Dont forget to bring your heart If you enter into the gates of Scott Stadium this year as a Virginia football fan, you must also bring your heart that bleeds Orange and Blue. Part of being loud and making things difficult for the opposing team is being part of bleeding Orange and Blue. We saw this multiple times last season against Washington State, Florida State, and Virginia Tech, and it was a thing of beauty. I was lucky enough to capture it through my camera lens, and I believe it should be framed in Scott Stadium as a reminder of what is expected of every fan who attends a game. Step Five: Get ready to learn The Good Old Song, buddy Knowing the lyrics is expected; belting them out is mandatory. You should be loudest after a Virginia score and a Virginia victory, and what better way to test the limits of your vocal cords than the masterpiece that is named The Good Ole Song.If you follow these steps this season at Scott Stadium, I am confident your overall experience will be satisfactory.

Jacob Wilson set the Major League Baseball record for consecutive errorless games played at shortstop on Aug. 9 in Boston.The Thousand Oaks High graduate played his 111th straight game without making an error Sunday afternoon in the Athletics 4-3 win at Fenway Park, breaking the record set by Baltimores Mike Bordick in 2002.The 24-year-old has fielded 323 consecutive chances without making an error since July 6, 2025. He has made only eight errors in 222 career games in the field.Wilson fielded five chances cleanly Sunday, including a popup which featured a collision with second baseman Jeff McNeil, a 4-6-3 double play and a grounder by Ceddanne Rafaela that pushed him deep into the hole at shortstop.Wilson told ESPN after the game that he makes sure to take ground balls before every start at shortstop.I do that every day that I'm playing short, Wilson said. The DH days I try to stay off my feet as much as I can, but every day I'm playing short I'm taking ground balls no matter what. You need to get as much work on the field, ground balls-wise as you can.Wilson also credited his father Jack Wilson, the former Thousand Oaks High and Oxnard College shortstop who spent 12 years in the major leagues."He's a very defensive-first guy for me growing up by teaching me defense first before the hitting side of things and making sure you're always prepared to play defense every day," Wilson said.Three years into his major league career, Wilson is hitting .270 with 36 RBIs and seven home runs. The Vols are set to play their first home game in just under a month, and 100,000-plus Tennessee fans will once again be able to pack Neyland Stadium. The Vols first home game of the season is against FCS Furman on September 5. The other home games on the 2026 slate are against Kennesaw State, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU. Whether youre a season ticket holder, go to a game or two a season, or youre preparing for your first-ever visit this season, there are some things you should know about attending a game at Neyland Stadium. Today, were going to talk about what those things are for 2026. Get to campus early Tennessee games are not the type of games you get to 10 minutes before kickoff. If youre heading to a Vols game, you need to make sure you get to campus plenty early. Youll most likely have to park a good bit away and walk as well, so give yourself plenty of time. Even if youre parking situation is figured out and you know where youre going, you should still try to get to campus a few hours before kickoff. There are always plenty of parties and tailgates to check out, plus some great scenery and places to eat. Make sure to check out all the campus bookstores, too. Plan on making it an all-day experience. Knoxville is one of the most beautiful towns in the country and theres so much to do and see that maximizes the experience. Best environment in college football This one would be considered a hot take by many people, but I think its true. Neyland Stadium is one of the best homefield advantages in all of sports and the best overall environment in college football. With the Vol Navy tailgaters before the games, the raucous student section, and the unmistakable sound of 100,000-plus fans belting out Rocky Top, theres no question Neyland Stadium is an intimidating place for opponents. College football analysts like Josh Pate have frequently called Neyland one of the loudest stadiums in college football. When you head to Neyland, youre heading to one of the legitimately special experiences in college sports. Knoxville and Tennessee fans are differentIll make another bold statement here. I dont think theres a college fanbase more loyal and dedicated than the VFLs. The amount of suffering the Vols have endured, and the fans are still as loyal and optimistic as ever, is truly a sight to behold. The entire city of Knoxville is based on Tennessee athletics. Everywhere you go, on campus or not, you will see orange and white. Everybody you talk to in the city will want to talk about the Vols. Knoxville isnt a city that just comes alive once a week the entire area lives and breathes Tennessee athletics.After a long summer, Tennessee will be back on September 5th with the home opener against Furman.
