The Oklahoma Sooners filled their final roster spot on Monday night. The Sooners are expected to add Arkansas transfer defensive tackle Danny Saili, according to a report from On3's Pete Nakos and SoonerScoop's George Stoia. Saili entered the transfer portal back in January. Saili joins the Sooners with one year of eligibility remaining. Saili was originally committed to Oklahoma from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas back in 2023 before flipping to BYU late in the cycle. After spending a season with the Cougars, Saili transferred to Arkansas, where he spent the last two seasons. He played in 18 games for the Razorbacks, recording 14 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. According to Pro Football Focus, he played 379 snaps over the last two seasons, including 313 snaps in 2025. PFF graded him as a top-20 run defender in the SEC among defensive tackles with at least 170 snaps. With a lot of experience and fantastic size, Saili will have an opportunity to push for rotational snaps at the nose tackle spot behind Jayden Jackson.At 6-foot-6 and nearly 320 pounds, Saili has the size to take up space and eat up double teams in the running game. He'll keep the linebacker corps clean and allow the defensive line around him to work against one-on-one assignments more. Saili won't be easily moved off his spot, creating disruption in the running game. According to PennLives Nick Farabaugh, Pittsburgh recently worked out wide receiver Ben Patterson. The team did not sign him immediately as of this article. Patterson played college football at the University of Texas Permian Basin. His best season came in 2025, when he recorded 32 catches for 678 yards and five touchdowns, being named to the Second-Team All-Lone Star Conference Offense. He logged an impressive 21.2 yards per catch in his final collegiate season. Patterson went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a UDFA before being waived Aug. 2. Hes the second-ever UTPB product to receive an NFL contract offer.

While its unofficial, its our first look at how the Packers (or at least their PR team) want us to think about this roster. You can give it a look for yourself below, and Ill add some of my thoughts.OffenseThe skill positions are pretty chalky. The trio of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden is starting, with Davion Williams, Bo Melton and Skyy Moore backing them up, and Isaiah Neyor and J. Michael Sturdivant are on the outside looking in on the two-deep.Chris Brooks getting the nod over MarShawn Lloyd as the second-string back is semi-interesting, but Brooks has never really been given full drives before, like other Packers backs, as hes been more of a situational blocker than a ball-carrier in Green Bay.Where its actually newsy is on the offensive line, where Anthony Belton remains as the starting right guard, despite Jager Burton, Jacob Monk and Donovan Jennings pushing for his job. Jennings and second-year lineman John Williams, who is playing all five positions for the Packers in camp, got the nod on the two-deep over Travis Glover, who at this point last year was considered to be a near-roster lock before he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury.DefenseThe big thing that stands out on the starting line of the depth chart is that its Devonte Wyatt and Karl Brooks starting on the defensive line, not Javon Hargrave. Hargrave is a second-stringer here, along with Warren Brinson.On the edge, Barryn Sorrell appears to have a lead to be the Packers starter opposite Lukas Van Ness, which isnt surprising considering that the duo is pretty much getting first-look opportunities every day in camp. Slightly interesting: rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton is being listed as a third-stringer behind Collin Oliver and Brenton Cox Jr., but the whole group will rotate heavily.Cornerback is another position of intrigue, as Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine are listed as starters over Brandon Cisse and Benjamin St-Juste, despite all four corners getting significant reps with the first-team defense in camp (when healthy). Kamal Hadden, who recently returned to practice, is also listed as the teams number two slot defender, despite safety Kitan Oladapo playing the role of Javon Bullards replacement in practice. Hadden hasnt played the slot in Green Bay in regular-season action before, so itll be interesting to see if he gets some of those looks in the preseason or if the Packers two newly signed safeties mean that Oladapo is freed up to play the slot this summer.Special TeamsMatt Orzech, who is still on the PUP list with a short-term calf issue, is still ahead of veteran Cal Adomitis on the long snapper depth chart. Adomitis was signed at the start of camp due to Orzechs injury.Skyy Moore is listed as the starting punt returner and kick returner for the Packers, with Savion Williams and Pierre Strong Jr. backing him up on kicks and Will Sheppard and Jaden Nixon backing him up on punts. My guess: Strong, Sheppard and Nixon dont make Green Bays initial 53-man roster, barring injuries at their offensive positions.

Game is going along quickly. All is well. Anthony Seigler singled off Simeon Woods Richardson to lead off the inning. Connor Wong also singled. Nick Sogard lined one at Vladimir Guerrero, who got the ball on a hop and got the first out on a force at second. Then..true weirdness. The scoreboard, apparently showed two outs. Truly thats really neither here nor there, as my dad would say. It is a none issue.Ceddanne Rafaela hit a fly ball to center field. Both the runner on first and the runner on third took off before the catch. Brett Bateman threw the ball in to second, and, after a bit of confusion, the Jays threw to first to double up the runner that left first. Everybody left the field. Sportsnet went to commercial.When they came back from commercial, the umpires were talking to the managers. And then they called New York, to get a ruling from the Gods above. Apparently the Gods decided that the Red Sox deserved a run because the Jays took the out at first, but the runner from second crossed the plate first. It didnt matter that he tagged up before Bateman made the catch, which, of course, is illegal.So the Jays couldnt appeal because they left the field after the called third out. They didnt know they should have stayed on the field through the commercial break, so that they could appeal a run that wasnt put on the board until ten minutes after the inning ended. If you can give a team a run, ten minutes after the inning ends, the other team should be able to appeal the run ten minutes later. Umpires is so stupid (as Yosemite Sam would say).Im a fan of playground justice and that wasnt playground justice. No kids would come up with that crap.Anyway, Jameson Taillon started and looked good, until he left the field after the end of the fourth, and told Pete Walker and John Schneider that he had a pain in his forearm. Words you dont want to hear from a starter. Taillon allowed one hit, with three walks and three strikeouts in his four scoreless innings. I dont think well see him on the mound in again in five days.Simeon Woods Richardson pitched the next three innings, and he was very good too. Allowed four hits, one walk, with two strikeouts and got the earned run against, which really isnt fair. He got the win.Tyler Rogers pitched a quick eighth, allowing a walk, and getting a strikeout.Louis Varland got the ninth. He gave up a leadoff double and I was worried. A sac bunt move Jarren Duran to third. But Varland got a strikeout and a ground out (nice play Vlad) to get his 25th save. On offense we got just seven hits. We scored:One in the fifth: Charles McAdoo led off the inning with a home run. One in the six: George Springer had a one-out single. And he stole second (we needed to challenge the play to overturn the umpires bad call). With two outs, Andrs Gimnez singled to right and Springer scored. Thankfully, the Red Sox catcher, Connor Wong, couldnt handle the throw from right, or George would have likely been out. Jays of the Day: Taillon (0.21 WPA), Varland (0.16), McAdoo (0.13), SWR (0.12) and Rogers (0.12).Other Award: Nathan Lukes (-0.09).Tomorrow we have Patrick Sandoval (1-0, 3.38) vs. Dylan Cease (7-5, 2.28). The long-stalled Protect College Sports Act, which would establish federal regulations for name, image and likeness deals for student-athletes, was injected with sudden momentum last week but that progress quickly sputtered out as the week came to a close. Among other concerns, some lawmakers raised objections that the bill could create legal loopholes in states that have laws restricting transgender athletes from participating in womens sports.A group of attorneys general from six red states, including Utah Attorney General Derek Brown, wrote a letter to the two main sponsors of the bill to urge changes before its brought to the floor for a vote.For decades, the integrity of womens sports has been under attack by those pursuing a radical transgender agenda at the expense of the safety of female athletes and equal athletic opportunity, the state attorney general wrote in the letter, which was sent to lawmakers on Friday and obtained by the Deseret News.The Protect College Sports Act is a sweeping proposal to regulate college athletics by creating a national framework dealing with NIL deals, athlete compensation, media rights, revenue sharing, transfer eligibility, and more. Bipartisan lawmakers behind the legislation have argued federal guidelines are crucial to absolve confusion from 50 states operating under different rules.As part of that framework, the legislation offers requirements for student-athletes to be considered eligible to participate in NCAA Division I or Division II athletic competitions. The legislation then blocks states from enforcing laws that interfere with those guidelines, raising concerns from Republican-led states with laws restricting transgender athletes. Instead, attorneys general such as Brown are pushing the Senate to include language to make clear that the bill does not preempt the 27 state laws that prohibit biological males from participating in womens sports.Without that language, the attorneys general argue, the bill is unacceptably unclear and could risk re-opening the floodgates of litigation on the question whether states can ensure womens sports are for women and women only.Given whats at stake the integrity of womens sports, the safety of female athletes, and basic biological reality and the tenacity of the left in pushing a radical transgender agenda that harms our young women and families, we cannot afford to roll the dice and put our trust in the federal courts to properly construe these ambiguities in this bill in a way that does not preempt our states womens sports laws, the letter states. Our states have invested too much in this fight only to have the outcome once again put into doubt.A trio of senators Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri, Jim Banks of Indiana and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama filed an amendment last week addressing these concerns. Each of the three states have laws that prohibit biological males from competing in womens sports.The amendment has not yet been considered as Senate GOP leaders delayed the bills consideration until September. Despite striking a deal last week between the Senate, the White House, and Big Ten and SEC leaders, the Senate ultimately adjourned for its August recess before taking a vote on the reforms package.That delay came after a handful of lawmakers objected to the expedited timeline or others wanted to file their own amendments which couldve taken days to conclude debate. Instead, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., placed the bill on the calendar for September.College sports is something that needs to be fixed. They have a good solution, Thune said on Friday. We got it teed up for next month.Even if the bill makes it through the Senate, it must still be approved by the House, which has been struggling to draft its own solution to regulate college sports. As a result, its unclear if Congress will be able to pass a federal framework before the midterm elections in November.

FinalTwins 9, Orioles 5Starting pitcher performanceJust 10 days after the Orioles dealt Dean Kremer to the Twins ahead of the trade deadline, the veteran starter turned in his best outing of the season against his former teammates.Facing the team that he had pitched for for parts of the past seven seasons, Kremer allowed just one hit and one run across seven innings, marking his longest outing of the season thus far.That one hit wasnt hit hard just 52.6 miles per hour off Jackson Hollidays bat and didnt travel far. It came in the fourth inning and shortly after, Holliday broke for second, getting himself caught in a rundown long enough to let shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who had walked earlier in the inning, score from third.But that was all the Orioles could manage against Kremer, who struck out seven in his outing and allowed very little hard contact in his first start as a Twin at Target Field.Since the trade, Kremer has now given up just two runs on four hits in 12 innings pitched across to starts.Player of the GameBoth Kremer and Austin Martin, who has had a tough go of it offensively of late, turned in standout performances on Monday.Martin, who recorded his first-career four-hit game on Monday, got the Twins on the board in the third inning with his first home run since May 22.That was one of three runs that he scored in the game, scoring once in the seventh inning as part of the Twins five-run rally and again in the eighth as part of a two-run inning.He finished a triple shy of the cycle.Key momentThe Twins held an edge from the fourth inning onward with Kaelen Culpeppers sacrifice fly giving them a one-run lead that they held through the middle innings of the game.But they broke through in the seventh inning, an inning which began with an infield single from Ryan Kreidler and a bunt from Martin that catcher Carlos Narvez picked up and threw into right field.That prompted the Orioles to bring the infield in, after which catcher Ryan Jeffers sent a single past a diving Henderson for a pair of runs. After the Twins next two batters reached, Josh Bell hit a three-run blast, fully breaking the game open.Up nextBailey Ober (7-3, 4.45 ERA) will take the ball on Tuesday in the second game of the series against the Baltimore Orioles.
