NFL head coach just made his running back a must-draft in fantasy football
Most NFL head coaches spend August talking down workloads and hyping committee backfields. The training camp stories are about guys who put on 10 pounds of muscle or are in the best shape of their lives. The coachspeak is always there, and fantasy football managers cant help but roll their eyes with every headline. However, one first-year NFL coach did the opposite this week. He went live on a national sports talk show and promised to run his best player into the ground, quite literally, and fantasy football managers should be thrilled. What Jeff Hafley said about DeVon Achane on the Rich Eisen ShowDolphins head coach Jeff Hafley appeared on the Rich Eisen Show and laid out a plan for DeVon Achane that sounds built for fantasy lineups. He said the running back got a warning that morning. I just gave Achane a heads-up this morning and told him he better be in good shape. Because I told him there might be some games where I might have to pick him up and carry him back into the locker room because hes going to be so tired. Then Hafley went further, adding that he doesnt want Achane asking for a breather by tapping on his helmet. And I told him, I dont ever want to see one of these head taps all year. And he looked me right in the eye and said, Youll never get that head tap from me. I said, Dont worry, buddy. After you touch the ball 40, 45 times, I might have to pick you up, and Ill carry you back in the locker room.'Hafley, whos definitely just having fun in the moment and not talking about a serious strategy, also praised the 24-year-old back as a leader and a smart player. I love the guy. I mean, you want to talk about a guy with some juice and a guy with personality starting to come out. A guy whos starting to become a leader. He added, Hes one of the smarter players.Achane touched the ball 305 times last year. Hafley is talking about 40 to 45 touches in a single game; while impossible, its fun to think about. That would be over 700 touches in a single season. The NFL record is 492 by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back James Wilder (407 carries and 85 catches). Why DeVon Achane could be a fantasy football league-winner in 2026Start with what Achane already did. He ran for 1,350 yards and 8 touchdowns on 238 carries in 2025. The 5-foot-9 star caught 67 passes for 488 yards and 4 more scores, while leading the NFL at 5.7 yards per carry. The Texas A&M alumnus finished as a top-six fantasy running back in half-PPR scoring, and he did all of it while sharing the field with other weapons. Those other weapons are gone now. Miami released Tyreek Hill after a serious knee injury, and the team traded Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos. Malik Willis is the projected quarterback with just six career starts. So the offense runs through Achane. He carries the ball, and he catches it, and there is almost no one else to feed in an offense seriously lacking in weapons. Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, Caleb Douglas and Tutu Atwell are the top four wideouts. The starting tight end is Greg Dulcich. If you dont recognize any of those names, youre not alone. This is Achanes team. Miami Dolphins running back DeVon Achane (28) will have the whole offense running through his hands in 2026 to the delight of many fantasy football managers.Seeing the truth in Hafleys exaggerationAchane could lead the Dolphins in both rushing and receiving yards this season and maybe lead the entire NFL in rushing. The last running back to do that was Jamaal Charles in 2013, when he ran for 1,287 yards and added 693 through the air for the Chiefs. He edged out Dwayne Bowe by 20 receiving yards. That performance was by a similarly speedy player with good hands in a similar situation where the pass-catching group wasnt pulling their weight.Miami looks like one of the worst teams in football, and bad teams usually scare fantasy managers off. Bad teams dont score touchdowns, but it should do the opposite here. Bad teams trail, and trailing teams throw, and Achane catches passes out of the backfield. Win or lose for Miami, the ball will find him. When your coach jokingly promises 45 touches per game, we know its not true, but theres also a grain of truth in every joke.

Benfica register interest in Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo
Benfica register interest in Chelsea centre-back Tosin AdarabioyoXabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge with the Blues. Portuguese giants Benfica have registered their interest in signing Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, according to Nizaar Kinsella. The move would pave the way for a reunion with Benfica head coach Marco Silva, who previously managed Adarabioyo during a productive three-year spell at Fulham.Under Silva at Craven Cottage, the 28-year-old established himself as a reliable, ball-playing Premier League defender, making nearly 100 appearances before joining Chelsea on a free transfer in summer 2024.Having seen Adarabioyo excel in his tactical system, Silva sees his former centre-back as an ideal replacement for Antonio Silva, who recently joined Bournemouth.Chelsea have received initial interest from Benfica regarding Adarabioyos availability. With less than two years on his current contract, Chelseas decision-makers are carefully evaluating their position. As Adarabioyo arrived on a free transfer, any sale would represent pure profit on the clubs books, a dynamic that appeals to BlueCo as they seek to comply with Premier League and UEFA sustainability regulations. However, Benfica are not the only club monitoring the situation. At least one rival Premier League club is also interested, creating potential competition for his signature late in the window.Although Adarabioyo featured regularly in pre-season, fierce competition in Chelseas defence has left his long-term prospects uncertain.A move to Estadio da Luz would appeal to Adarabioyo, offering regular football and European competition under a manager who fully trusts his abilities.Chelsea would ideally like their first-team squad settled before the opening game against Fulham on August 24, meaning Benfica may need to move quickly to complete a deal. With their tour of Australia and Asia now complete, the Blues are working to trim their squad, with several departures lined up for youth prospects and fringe first-team options.

2026 NFL awards betting, odds: Best bets for MVP, Offensive Rookie of the Year and more
Awards futures are where the market pays you to remember. Every summer the book re-prices last year's highlight reel, hands you the same MVP and the same rookie hype at a premium, and dares you to buy the rerun. I'd rather bet what's coming. Our model doesn't grade storylines, it grades deserved records, who actually played like contenders and who performed to expectations. In 2026, that's the whole board. Nearly every ticket I like sits on a team our model says ran cold last year, is better than its record and is due to rebound, but is priced like it's still stuck in the mud. Here is my breakdown of several NFL awards markets, including MVP:Most Valuable PlayerJosh Allen, QB, Bills (+550)Allen will be QB1 of one of the most talked-about teams in football, so I understand the need to make him the chalk. In fact, at +4 we project Buffalo as a legit upside team overall. But this price is taxing the idea of the MVP. Allen's issue: Where's his ceiling? What's the median expectation? I'd argue it's already near MVP levels, and to make real noise in the market from there he'd have to pull off some superman-level heroics. Pass.Joe Burrow, QB, Bengals (10-1)This is the number I keep coming back to. Cincinnati is the most undervalued team on our entire luck board, a full game and a half colder than it actually played, winning six games with a roster we graded like a playoff team. Burrow is also our third-likeliest passing champ. Give a healthy Burrow 17 games with that offense, which everyone agrees has the talent to erupt but just needs to stick it out through a full season, and you've got a resurgence that lands him right in the middle of this race. A Burrow bounce back is my MVP ticket. Buy.Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs (10-1)Kansas City is the other cold team hiding in plain sight, a clear positive grade buried under a six-win season. At the same 10-1 you're buying the identical profile as Burrow, an elite quarterback on a team our model swears was better than its record. The obvious variable is injury, and whether Mahomes comes back as the player we remember. That could be a massive catalyst for good, but it could just as easily mean performances that aren't worthy of a trophy. The ceiling is there, but for the price it's not worth the bite in my opinion. Pass.Offensive Player of the YearBijan Robinson, RB, Falcons (+900)Our third-most-likely rushing champ, and unlike Jahmyr Gibbs he's a true bell cow. Atlanta runs its whole offense through him, and a workhorse on a full snap count is exactly the resume this award pays. Give me the back who gets the ball 40 times a game over the one splitting a backfield in Gibbs. I'm not sold that Atlanta knows what it's doing at quarterback, which only makes Bijan's consistency more important to this offense. If the Falcons do well, this price is a steal. Buy.Puka Nacua, WR, LA Rams (10-1)Over the last seven seasons, wide receivers have won this award more than any other position, and with Nacua as our most likely receiving-yards champ playing for a Rams team our ratings peg as the best in the league this is an obvious click. A quarterback hasn't won this award since 2018, so it's going to a skill guy who has the system to get him the ball and create his own explosive plays. I took a bite at this 10-1 price. Buy.Offensive Rookie of the YearJeremiyah Love, RB, Cardinals (+300)Short price, but I'm not fighting it. Arizona is a bounce-back team on our board, and a workhorse rookie back stepping into a rising offense is the purest OROY magnet there is, especially given the quarterback situation in Arizona. Volume wins this thing, and Love is walking straight into it. This award hasn't had a direct correlation to team success; more often it's a star inside a rebuild, and Love fits that notion perfectly. Buy.Comeback Player of the YearKyler Murray, QB, Vikings (+550)Step one is simply getting back on the field. But if Kyler clears that hurdle, he's got the weapons around him to make a real story. His whole career has been a story, the incredible high school run, the twist of elite college football and baseball, the hot start in the league, but it's gone quiet lately. In a story-based award market, that's exactly the setup I want: Kyler Murray falling right into the funnel of media attention at a great price.
