College athletics are changing, and the University of Southern Indiana is changing with it.USI Athletics announced a six-year, $1 million agreement on Aug. 12 with Mt. Vernon-based company TCG to become the universitys jersey patch sponsor. The patch will appear on the jerseys of all 19 of the Screaming Eagles athletic programs.USI is the first university in the Ohio Valley Conference to make this commitment.A new era of college sportsThe agreement comes after the NCAAs jersey patch policy for Division I athletic programs went into effect Aug. 1. In May, USI Athletics made a social media post seeking a jersey patch sponsor. In the end, TCG had the best presentation.It was an interesting process because it was new to us, USI athletic director Jon Mark Hall said. Trying to understand the dollars behind it, what it would mean to a company and us. It took some time, but once the conversations were going, it was something that came to fruition over a couple of weeks. It was a nice, easy process with them.Hall said there were conversations with other companies as well. While there was some initial doubt, it became clear over a lunch appointment that TCGs motives were pure. In Halls words, TCG is the perfect partner.In a press release, USI president Steven J. In TCG, he is confident the university has met its match.We dont want just anyones logo on our jerseys, Hall said. We want a partner; someone thats committed to the same values we have.With the NCAAs ever-changing landscape, it was also important for USI to find a partner that is just as adaptable as it aims to be. TCG shares those values as well. John Rohlman, TCGs vice president of global business development, expressed the companys commitment to the USI community in the press release.This partnership not only signifies the universitys commitment to innovation, but also to its student-athletes. The womens soccer team, among others, were in attendance.Theyre going to know that a local company is investing in them, Hall said. Hopefully itll be a good sense of pride for them.With fall sports set to begin at USI, the patches will not appear on jerseys immediately. Baltimore Ravens rookie offensive guard Vega Iaone will enter his 2026 NFL season with very high expectations. Thankfully, Iaone should be able to relax, playing alongside teammate Roger Rosengarten, who isn't far removed from his rookie season in 2024.Iaone will have a big responsibility as a run-blocker, which requires the innate ability to play nimble and agile. Yet, as a pass-blocker, Iaone will need to familiarize himself with the strengths and smarts of opposing NFL defensive linemen, something that can only be made revelatory by in-game experience. Vega's rookie resume will thus need to be built through constructive criticism from coaches and teammates' redirection. New faces for the Ravens' offensive line include left guard John Simpson and veteran center Ethan Pocic. With the addition of Ioane this past Spring, the Ravens will start the 2026 NFL season with a new-look offensive line. Needless to say, camaraderie must be re-established.Veteran tackle Ronnie Stanley will be the most highly regarded in the offensive line room, but in training reps, Ioane and Rosengarten will line up side by side on offensive snaps. Offensive coordinator DeClan Doyle must ingrain snap count signals and cadence for Ioane and others to memorize. Rosengarten and Stanley might propose previous hand gestures that quarterback Lamar Jackson has used to Doyle. Still, slide protections and pre-snap audibles need to be simple and expedient for an offensive line that is new and collaborative.Ultimately, sacks allowed numbers will need to be prevented by the offensive line in 2026. I know he was drafted to take on the responsibility. Hull KR became the fifth team to win Super League when they beat Wigan Warriors in the 2025 Grand Final [Getty Images]Super League have confirmed that they have received an investment offer from the Australian Rugby League Commission.Discussions have been ongoing between the two parties since last year.In a brief statement, Rugby League commercial said Super League's 14 clubs had been informed of the offer on Thursday and that details "remain confidential".Chairman of National Rugby League (NRL) Peter V'landys told BBC Sport last October that Super League was in danger of "a crash" if it did not find new ways to grow revenue.In April, NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said concerns that a deal between the sport's two leading competitions would lead to a talent drain from Super League were "completely unfounded"."What we're trying to achieve is to make rugby league in the UK and Europe as strong as possible," he told BBC Sport."That's the exact opposite of it becoming a feeder pathway program."Abdo also said that the NRL were looking for a partnership with Super League rather than a takeover of it.At the time head of RL Commercial Rhodri Jones called the negotiations between Super League and the NRL "encouraging"."The sport is open minded to investment," Jones told BBC Sport."The NRL is a natural fit.
