Ismael Saibari prefers the No. 10 position, ready to battle for minutes at Bayern Munich
MUNICH, GERMANY - AUGUST 14: Ismael Saibari of FC Bayern Muenchen during a press conference on August 14, 2026 in Munich, Germany. (Photo by S. Stingl/FC Bayern via Getty Images) | FC Bayern via Getty ImagesIsmael Saibari is not coming to Bayern Munich expecting anything to be handed to him.The Moroccan midfielder made it clear what his preferred position is when discussing his role under Vincent Kompany. My favorite position is at No. 10, everyone knows that. But as Vinnie said to me, I can play in different positions; so it doesnt matter, you switch around so much during a game anyway. I can also play on the wings and in deeper positions, Saibari (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). That versatility could be extremely important for Saibari at Bayern Munich. The No. 10 position is where he feels most comfortable, but there is already plenty of competition. Jamal Musiala figures to be the primary player ahead of him there when healthy (at least for now), while Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl can also compete for minutes in that attacking midfield role.Saibari could therefore find himself moving around the attack to get onto the pitch. His ability to operate on the wings or in deeper midfield positions gives Kompany additional flexibility and could help him find opportunities even when Musiala is available. There is another potential role worth watching, too backup striker. With Harry Kane firmly established as Bayern Munichs No. 9, Saibari could provide another option behind him when the situation calls for it, particularly if Kompany wants a more mobile attacking profile. For Saibari, the message seems clear, do not become fixated on one position. If he can prove that he can contribute across the front line and in midfield, his versatility could ultimately be the key to earning consistent minutes at Bayern Munich.Join the conversation!Sign up for a user accountand get:New, improved notifications system!Fewer adsCreatecommunity postsComment on articles, community postsRec comments, community posts

On The Horizon: Cubs vs. Cardinals series preview
This series wraps up Cubs vs. Cardinals for this year (barring an unlikely postseason matchup). After struggling vs. the Cardinals in their first two series of 2026, the Cubs took three of four in St. Louis last month and so the season series is tied at five wins each. For more on the Cardinals, heres Doc Holliday, manager of our SB Nation Cardinals site Viva el Birdos.Andre Pallante and Kyle Leahy have emerged as top of the rotation talent. Pallante may be the most effective arm on the staff right now after May got traded and Michael McGreevy had a couple of less-than-ideal starts. Meanwhile, Matthew Liberatore has been a dumpster fire and hes the scheduled starter on Friday. Major control issues. He had one start out of his last four that was strong when he had everything working. That has been the exception and not the rule. Hes the weak link which again is why Friday afternoons game is crucial.Riley OBrien has gotten his control back and has been effective in his most recent save attempts. Caleb Ferguson was a mistake pickup at the trade deadline who might not be on the roster by the time the Cardinals arrive in Chicago. The Cardinals offensive story is a mixed bag. Alec Burleson has returned to his Silver Slugger-level self and has been a RBI monster this past week. He had three home runs a few games ago and was key to the victory over the Phillies on Wednesday. Jordan Walker hit his first home run since the All-Star break recently. He has not regressed to 2025 Jordan Walker and continues to make hard contact. JJ Wetherholt has been struggling at the top of the lineup as his average is now down in the .240s, but there were signs today that he might be coming out of the slump. Ivan Herrera has also become red-hot. Hes horrific as a defensive catcher, having not thrown out even one runner this year, but as a DH hes amazing. Newcomer Everson Pereira, who the Cardinals claimed a few days ago from the White Sox, has made a great first impression. Made one of the best plays weve seen this year in center field Tuesday night as he slammed into the wall at full stride to rob the Phillies of a scoring chance. Then he hit a solo blast in the late innings to ice Tuesday nights victory.St. Louis will arrive in Chicago with momentum. Theres a vibe similar to what the team had early in the season, but I suspect Fridays game will be key. Im expecting an exciting weekend. The Cubs have the chance to torpedo the Cardinals chances at making a run at the third Wild Card spot. If St. Louis can somehow manage to win the series against Chicago, could be the springboard to a serious September run.Fun factsAfter losing two of three games when they hosted the Cardinals for the first time this season, July 3-5, the Cubs were 50-40 and the Cards were 47-40.Since then, the Cubs are 21-11; the Cardinals, 14-20. Instead of leading the Cards by 1.5 games, the Cubs are up by 9.0.The ancient rivals have played 2,536 games, the second most the Cubs have played against any opponent, behind 2,631 against. the Pirates. Their 1,286 wins over the Cards are their second most, too, just five fewer than their 1,291 vs. the Pirates. 716 of the Cubs win have come at home, their most vs. any guest. They have won 700 against the Braves and 691 against the Pirates. The Cubs have split 10 games against the Cards this year. They won the series, 8-5, a year ago, by sweeping the last three games of the season at Wrigley, by 12-1, 7-3 and 2-0. They had won two of three earlier in the year and three of four in the second series of 2024, so the Cubs are 9-4 in their last four at home in the rivalry.(Courtesy BCBs JohnW53)Probable pitching matchupsFriday: Clay Holmes, RHP (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 2.000 WHIP, 7.33 FIP in one start with Cubs; 4-5, 2.86 ERA, 1.165 WHIP, 3.48 FIP in 10 starts overall) vs. Matthew Liberatore, LHP (5-9, 5.15 ERA, 1.522 WHIP, 4.70 FIP)Saturday: Matthew Boyd, LHP (8-1, 3.50 ERA, 1.218 WHIP, 3.95 FIP) vs. Michael McGreevy, RHP (4-9, 3.64 ERA, 1.222 WHIP, 4.25 FIP)Sunday: Shta Imanaga, LHP (8-9, 3.74 ERA, 1.100 WHIP, 4.56 FIP) vs. Hunter Dobbins, RHP (2-3, 3.40 ERA, 1.311 WHIP, 4.21 FIP)Times & TV channelsFriday: 1:20 p.m. CT, Apple TV (how to watch)Saturday: 1:20 p.m. CT, Marquee Sports NetworkSunday: 2:15 p.m. CT, ABC-TV (full national broadcast, no blackouts). Also available streaming on the ESPN App (subscription required).PredictionThe Cardinals just took two of three from the Phillies at home, but the Phillies have been in a slide in general lately, while the Cubs have been hot. That should be enough for the Cubs to take two of three here.Up nextThe Cubs host their crosstown rivals, the White Sox, in a three-game series at Wrigley Field beginning Monday evening.

Dolphins vs. Commanders: How to stream, TV channel, start time, odds, and more
LANDOVER, MD - SEPTEMBER 07: A general view as fireworks are displayed as the Washington Commanders take the field before the NFL 2025 game between the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants at Northwest Stadium on September 7, 2025 in Landover, Maryland. (Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesThe 2026 preseason kicks off for the Miami Dolphins on Friday when they visit the Washington Commanders. The first preseason game is primarily about getting game-speed repetitions with live tackling rather than focusing on the game planning and end results. We will likely see plenty of developmental players who are fighting for positions on the back end of the roster. But, we also know the Dolphins will have at least some of their starters on the field at the beginning of the game. Quarterback Malik Willis is expected to start, and if you are going to put your top passer out on the field, you are going to surround him with his top receiving threats and the offensive line tasked to protect him. The starters may not be on the field for long, but we will get a chance to see the 2026 version of the Dolphins, a unit that looks much different than the 2025 version. Here is everything you need to know to watch tonights game:Miami Dolphins (0-0) at (0-0) Washington CommandersPreseason Week 1What time is kickoff?7 p.m. Eastern Time, Friday, August 14Where is the game?Northwest Stadium, Landover, MarylandWhat local TV station has the broadcast?CBS in Miami, Washington DC, Baltimore, Norfolk, and RoanokeNBC in West Palm BeachABC in Richmond, CharlotteHow can I stream the game?MiamiDolphins.com / Miami Dolphins App, Paramount+, NFL+Who is the broadcast team?Steve Goldstein, Kim Bokamper, Mike Cugno(Dan Hellie, Brian Mitchell, John Riggins, Bryan Colbert Jr Commanders brodcast)How can I listen to the game on radio?Local Radio Coverage:iHeart Radio Network WINZ 940-AM/WBGG 105.9 FM Miami/Ft. Chelsea negotiating permanent sale of midfielder Omari Kellyman to RC Strasbourg
Chelsea negotiating permanent sale of midfielder Omari Kellyman to RC StrasbourgChelsea have entered into negotiations Strasbourg over a move for attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman.According to The Athletic, the Englishman will move to France on a permanent basis.Chelsea will include a buy-back clause in the deal that will take the 20-year-old to sister club Strasbourg.Kellyman enjoyed a successful 2025-26 season on loan in League One, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists for Cardiff City. The former Aston Villa youngster was among the players assessed by manager Xabi Alonso in pre-season this summer, appearing twice in their Asian tour.Kellyman has been at Chelsea since 2024, having joined in a 20 million deal from Aston Villa. He endured a difficult first season due to injuries before heading out on loan last term. The Blues are unwilling to allow him use up another one of their limited loan slots, hence the decision to let him leave permanently. He will be the third player to swap London for Strasbourg this summer, with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and full-back Genesis Antwi having joined them on loan.Kellyman will be a quality addition to the Strasbourg squad after a season in which they missed out on European football and reached the UEFA Conference League semi-final.The youngster is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a shadow striker due to his keen goalscoring instincts.

LSU football QB Sam Leavitt offers health update at fall camp
LSU football welcomed Sam Leavitt, the top player in the transfer portal, to Baton Rouge during the offseason. He arrived with baggage: a foot injury. Rehab throughout the spring and summer got the quarterback ready for fall camp."I've been 100% for the past few months," Leavitt said at a press conference. "My health is one thing that I take very seriously, whether it's the food I eat, the way I sleep, the way I recover, so it was really never a question for me."Leavitt led Arizona State to the 2024 College Football Playoffs, passing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns. He played seven games in 2025 before sitting out for the rest of the season. His recovery didn't move as fast as he wanted, but he stayed patient throughout."It was definitely more challenging within the first four or five months," Leavitt said. "I had a second surgery where I got the pins pulled, so I have no hardware in my foot right now, and initially after that I thought it was kind of, you know, just going to snap back into being full go. That's just how my brain works."Ahead of fall camp, Leavitt ramped up to full speed and put his arsenal on display through the first week. He unloaded on downfield passes and showed off his mobility on short passes out wide. The redshirt junior said a commitment to the recovery process put him in a great position to lead the Tigers. "Just going through the process and keeping my head down and putting in the work and understanding that delayed gratification was a big thing for me," Leavitt said. "I really don't think about it out on the field at all. You know, just have to obviously warm it up a little bit before practice. But, you know, just keeping on my routine and everything at night, it's really a zero-thought process for me."LSU's 2026 offense hinges on the health of Leavitt. The coveted quarterback led Arizona State to the College Football Playoff in 2024 and has the tools to win in the SEC. Sam Leavitt Heisman Trophy OddsPer FanDuel, LSU QB Sam Leavitt's odds to win the Heisman Trophy are +2500. That doesn't put Leavitt among the favorites, but he's not a dark horse either. Notre Dame QB CJ Carr has the best odds in the sport, sitting at +700.This article originally appeared on LSU Wire: LSU football QB Sam Leavitt offers health update at fall camp
