WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM4 Takeaways From Surging Joey Logano's Victory at RichmondJust eight races ago, Joey Logano languished in 20th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Now he sits ninth in the standings and is a two-time race winner. The three-time Cup champion led the final 25 laps and 95 of the 400 on his way to the triumph on Saturday night at Richmond Raceway. Hes not locked into the postseason Chase just yet, but hes well on his way with two races left in the regular season. Here are my takeaways: 1. Loganos Big Surge Loganos two victories have come on short tracks at North Wilkesboro and Richmond, but hes also run well at Atlanta and Indianapolis in recent weeks. He has three top-three finishes in his last four races after having two third-place finishes in the first 20 races this year. It has been an incredible turnaround orchestrated by Logano and crew chief Paul Wolfe. "This is important," Logano said in his USA Sports interview after the race. "We need to get ourselves back in the top 10." 2. Big Buffers For Cindric, SVG Austin Cindric finished third and Shane van Gisbergen finished 14th to give themselves some breathing room with just races at New Hampshire and Daytona to finish out the regular season. Their biggest challenger, Ryan Preece, got caught a couple of laps down when the caution came out during a pit cycle and settled for 17th. Cindric is now 63 points up on Preece and van Gisbergen has a 50-point cushion. "As far as the big picture goes for the season, it was a very important night for us to capitalize on a good car," Cindric said in a Ford news release. Drivers who dont have to worry about their buffer anymore include Chase Briscoe, Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell. They all clinched spots Saturday night in The Chase. Nine spots remain, and Preece has run well enough but not consistently enough to be in a good position. 3. Briscoe Falls Short Briscoe finished 0.392 seconds behind Logano after mounting a furious rally. It just wasnt quite good enough for a driver looking for his second win of the season. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver led a race-high 171 laps but one bad run seemed to cost him. "Just frustrating, to say the least, to have one slip away like that at the end," Briscoe said in his USA Sports interview after the race. 4. Larson Wins Knoxville Kyle Larson jumped out of his car after a sixth-place finish to try to get to the rain-delayed Knoxville Nationals. The biggest sprint-car race of the season was a couple of hours away by plane in Iowa and was being delayed by rain. Larson had qualified for the main event earlier in the week knowing he likely couldnt make it unless weather helped his cause. Recently, when trying to run the double on Memorial Day by racing at Indianapolis and Charlotte, weather has not been on his side. It fell in his favor this weekend. Hendrick Motorsports arranaged his flight to Knoxville and Larson got there in time and won the race. 4 . Whats Next The series heads to the flat 1.058-mile oval New Hampshire Motor Speedway next weekend for its lone stop there for the season. The track will play host to a Chase race next year, so even drivers who are already in The Chase will want to run well and have a good feeling about the track when they return in 2027. Ryan Blaney is the defending winner of the race.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 92 Views 0 Anteprima -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMJoshua Bez of the Cardinals hits 3 homers in his first 3 at-bats in a historic major league debutCHICAGO Joshua Bez smashed the first pitch he saw in the majors about 450 feet, then flashed a grin to the St. Louis dugout as he began his home run trot. There was a calmness and a smile, like, Im here, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said. Its rare for me to pick my head up to enjoy parts of it. He didnt exactly give us an option but to actually take a step back and enjoy the heck out of what was going on there. There has never been a show quite like it.Bez became the first player to hit a home run in each of his first three at-bats in the majors, leading the Cardinals to an 8-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.Called up from Triple-A Memphis before the game, Bez had 30 members of his family in attendance at Wrigley Field. The traveling party, which included his mother, Yris, gathered on the field for photos afterward in spite of rain. Its just unreal, the 23-year-old Bez said. To not only get a hit, but three home runs? Its crazy. He did it with flair, too. The first came on the first pitch he saw from Matthew Boyd and landed an estimated 449 feet away in the bleachers in left-center. The left fielders next at-bat ended with a solo shot down the left-field line and the third, on his ensuing at-bat, went the opposite way, giving him five RBIs.Major League Baseball said Bez was the first player in modern baseball history to hit three home runs in his debut. The league cannot say with certainty whether the feat happened before 1901 due to a lack of game logs.He hit three different pitches for home runs. He had a great game. He beat us for sure, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said.Bez showed plenty of power in the minors this season. When he was called up, he was leading all Triple-A hitters with 34 home runs, including four multihomer games.Hes the ninth player to make his major league debut for the Cardinals this season.Bez also is the 11th St. Louis player to homer in his first career at-bat (the last was Lane Thomas in 2019) and sixth in club history to homer on the first pitch. Former pitcher Adam Wainwright last did it in 2006.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 152 Views 0 Anteprima -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COM18-year-old pro Yanhan Zhou rips astonishing 514-yard drive at DP World Tour eventYanhan Zhou did something hardly accomplished in the game of golf. The 18-year-old professional hit a 514-yard tee shot Saturday during the third round of the DP World Tour's Danish Golf Championship. The par-5 fifth hole at Great Northern is a downhill tee shot with a cart path along the right side of the hole. It measures 598 yards, but Zhou's ball was hammered and then had some concrete assistance on its way to a monster mash.18-year-old Yanhan Zhou has just hit a 514 YARD drive #DanishGolfpic.twitter.com/VKNWpwBmbP DP World Tour (@DPWorldTour) August 15, 2026Perhaps the worst part of this incredible tee shot is there is no video of it. Only evidence on the DP World Tour's website via shot tracing.Zhou got relief for his second shot and had to drop in the rough, hitting a stellar shot onto the green and two putting for par. He had only 104 yards left for his approach on the nearly 600-yard hole.He remains in contention as play winds down Sunday in Denmark. During the second round of the 2013 Ballantine's Championship at Blackstone Golf Club in South Korea, Louis Oosthuizen hit a 500-yard drive on the opening hole. There have been other documented instances of 500+ yard drives, some by long drivers at high altitude and more. But what Zhou did Saturday, in contention on one of the world's biggest tours, is a remarkable achievement.Cameron Jourdanis an assistant editor of Golfweek, covering college and amateur golf, the PGA Tour and plenty more. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPreviously unknown UDFA debuts with 2-TD day, earns Cowboys Player of GameWhen the Dallas Cowboys took the field against the Seattle Seahawks, it would have been hard to imagine Camden Brown leading the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. With veterans like Jonathan Mingo and Marquez Valdes-Scantling on the roster and ahead of him on the depth chart, it was a pleasant surprise. The Cowboys' coaching staff had seen Brown excel during OTAs and training camp, but this was their first chance to see him produce in live game action, and he didn't disappoint.Brown was Saturday night's player of the game for Dallas, not only for scoring both Cowboys touchdowns, but for everything else he did on the field as well. His first reception came at the end of the first half, catching a 39-yard bomb off the arm of Sam Howell as part of a two-minute drill, forcing his way to the ball through an interfering defender.Sam Howell throws it deep and Camden Brown makes the contested catch for the TD DALvsSEA on @nflnetworkStream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/fpKAq7jcPK NFL (@NFL) August 16, 2026Then, after a quarterback change to Joe Milton at halftime, Brown caught his next two passes. Dallas found themselves behind the sticks thanks to back-to-back penalties on OL Marcus Johnson. The 2nd-and-15 didn't deter, as Milton found Brown for a 21-yard completion. Milton finished his impressive drive with a two-yard toss that Brown reached out and snagged with one hand, his left hand, behind the DB.CAMDEN BROWN WITH A CRAZY ONE-HANDED TD GRAB DALvsSEA on @nflnetworkStream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/sj2vglr6py NFL (@NFL) August 16, 2026He kept the covering cornerbacks on their heels and was able to create separation, ending the game by catching all three of his targets for 62 yards and the two scores.LOOK: Cowboys Wire's Summer Scouting Profile for Camden BrownBrown was also active in the running game, using his big body to block some of the smaller Seahawks' cornerbacks. He also showed off his route-running skills and ability to go up and make plays on the football, using his strong hand to snatch the football out of the air and protect it as defenders tried to take it away.Brown's performance only improved his chances of making the roster, and could make it much more difficult for Dallas to stash him on the practice squad. If he can continue building on performances like this, the Cowboys may have found another weapon for an already talented passing attack. They might even be able to find themselves some offensive line depth by trading one of the veteran receivers. This article originally appeared on Cowboys Wire: Previously unknown UDFA debuts with 2-TD day, earns Cowboys Player of Game0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 170 Views 0 Anteprima -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWTC 2025-27 points table: Bangladesh climb after historic Australia win, India remain fifthBangladesh produced one of the biggest results of their Test history by defeating Australia by nine wickets in Darwin, and the stunning victory has brought significant changes to the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 standings. Despite suffering their second defeat of the cycle, Australia have retained the top spot in the WTC table. However, their points percentage (PCT) has fallen from 87.50% to 77.78%, bringing them much closer to the chasing pack.Bangladesh, meanwhile, have strengthened their position in fourth place. Their PCT has risen from 58.33% to 66.67% following the historic triumph, putting them firmly in contention in the race for the WTC Final.Australia remain on top as Bangladesh make major leapAustralia currently have 84 points from nine Tests, with seven wins and two defeats. Their 77.78% PCT keeps them ahead of South Africa, who are second with 75% after four Tests. New Zealand occupy third place with 72.22% from six matches, while Bangladesh are fourth with 40 points from five Tests. The Tigers have won three matches, lost one and drawn one in the ongoing cycle.Bangladesh's victory in Darwin was particularly significant as it marked their first-ever Test win on Australian soil. The result was set up by an impressive all-round performance from the visitors. Bangladesh then chased down a modest target of 57 with nine wickets in hand.India remain fifth in mid-table battleIndia are currently fifth in the WTC standings with 52 points from nine Tests.
