That was the most expensive game-worn jersey ever sold. That was until Joe Montana's final Super Bowl-worn jersey, when the San Francisco 49ers beat the Denver Broncos, hit the market. According to the latest, his jersey sold for $1.515 million.Joe Montana's final Super Bowl-worn jersey -- donned in San Francisco's 55-10 win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV -- was purchased for a record-breaking $1,515,000 by Treasure Trove, the high-end alternative asset and collectibles venture announced Thursday (h/t ESPN).The sale surpassed the previous record held by the jersey Tom Brady wore in his last NFL game, which sold for $1.39 million in November 2023, Angelina Martin of NBCSportsBayArea wrote.Montana and Brady are two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, with Brady considered the better player. Like Patriots fans, 49ers fans love their team. Trevor Story Gets Injury Rehab Plan Before Red Sox Return
Trevor Story Gets Injury Rehab Plan Before Red Sox Return originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Boston Red Sox have really needed a team effort over the past few months to turn this campaign around. For a Red Sox team that struggled mightily throughout much of the campaign, turning things around at this level has been very impressive. When you factor in the injuries Boston has dealt with on both sides of the ball, it shows what this squad has really done.Currently 66-58 and 8.5 games back in the American League East, the Red Sox don't look to be in a great spot to win the division, though they should make the playoffs via the Wild Card. The Red Sox should also be getting some key players back over the next month, including shortstop Trevor Story, who started a rehab assignment over the weekend. While always a step in the right direction, it doesn't sound like there's a definitive timeline on when the former All-Star will return.Following the standard off-day that all Minor Leaguers have on Mondays, Story will join Worcester for a road trip to Syracuse and again start at shortstop on Tuesday. The Sox havent mapped out his schedule beyond that, and interim manager Chad Tracy isnt sure if Story will play any positions besides shortstop on his rehab assignment, Ian Browne wrote. There have been moments in Boston when Story has struggled a bit, but for the most part, he's been a really good player. Had he not dealt with injuries over the past few years, people would still regard him highly. He's only played in 41 games this year, hitting .206 before going down with three home runs.If the Red Sox can get Story back and he plays as well as he did in 2025, when he hit 25 home runs and posted a .741 OPS, they should be in a good spot.More Red SoxLatest Red Sox news2026 Red Sox schedule2026 Red Sox rosterComplete history of Red Sox championships

Cowboys Bolster Their Pass Rush, Reportedly Agree To Deal With Von Miller
Von Miller is returning to Texas to play for his hometown team. The two-time Super Bowl champion is expected to sign with the Dallas Cowboys, adding an experienced pass rusher to their defense, according to ESPN. Miller unofficially confirmed the move on social media, sharing a graphic of himself in a Cowboys uniform on his official X account. Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowler who grew up in DeSoto, Texas, comes to the Cowboys after spending last season with the Washington Commanders. During his year in Washington, the edge rusher recorded nine sacks while playing in seventeen regular-season games. The move keeps Miller in the NFC East while adding historic production to the roster. In 203 career regular-season games, he has accumulated 138.5 sacks, 27 forced fumbles and 9 fumble recoveries. Miller was also the Super Bowl 50 MVP and a three-time first-team All-Pro. He is the active NFL leader in career sacks with 138.5. Miller joins a Cowboys team that has sky-high expectations entering this season, as is always the case in Dallas. With a revamped defense and Dak Prescott, who led the league in passing yards last season with 4,552 yards, under center, the Cowboys have a 9.5-win total, but are favored in 11 games.

Why Aaron Rodgers Should and Shouldn't Suit Up During the Preseason
Why Aaron Rodgers Should and Shouldn't Suit Up During the Preseason originally appeared on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Add SportsNet Pittsburgh as a Preferred Source by clicking here. It's no secret that Aaron Rodgers is one of the loudest personalities in the NFL. The veteran has made quite a name for himself both on and off the gridiron throughout his career; now, the question of whether or not it's worth a preseason suit-up has arisen.Pittsburgh looked great against Green Bay on Thursday night in a 28-9 blowout. With Rodgers not seeing an ounce of playing time, like the majority of Pittsburgh's offensive starters, should he even play this preseason? Here's a look at the pros and cons of Rodgers suiting up for preseason football in the Steel City. Why Aaron Rodgers should play in the preseasonAt 42 years old, the NFL's oldest player is not getting any younger. While it's not like the veteran will see ample snaps in the preseason to begin with, it certainly wouldn't hurt in terms of keeping Rodgers loose. The Pittsburgh quarterback also received a new receiving weapon this offseason in Michael Pittman Jr. The former Indianapolis Colt, along with DK Metcalf, also matched Rodgers in not playing in the team's 28-9 rout of the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.Building chemistry with his new-look offense would only help one of the game's smartest men behind the offensive line, but it remains to be seen whether or not Coach McCarthy will opt to play his starters in their next home preseason game against the New York Jets, Rodgers' former team. Why Aaron Rodgers should not play in the preseasonWhile playing devil's advocate with Rodgers' age, the quarterback is not as injury-resistant as he once was. Any big hit could delay the shot-caller's 2026 regular-season debut, which has a high possibility of completely derailing Pittsburgh's season before it begins. This has also been accepted as Rodgers' final NFL season, and an injury would be an unfortunate way to leave the sport.Additionally, a Rodgers entry into preseason would pause the ongoing quarterback battle between Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and 2026 draftee Drew Allar, who looked quite sharp in his first NFL preseason half. The Steelers looked decent in their first preseason outing, and unless the team wants to have four quarterbacks on their active Week 1 roster, preseason may determine whether or not a roster spot gets freed up.Pittsburgh Steelers schedule 2026WeekDateOpponentKickoff time (ET)TV channel1Sept. 13vs. Falcons1 p.m.Fox2Sept. 20at Patriots1 p.m.CBS3Sept. 27vs. Bengals1 p.m.CBS4Oct. 1at Browns8:15 p.m.Prime Video5Oct. 11vs. Colts1 p.m.CBS6Oct. 18at Buccaneers1 p.m.CBS7Oct. 25vs. Saints(Paris)9:30 a.m.NFL Network8Nov. 1vs. Browns1 p.m.CBS9BYE10Nov. 15at Bengals8:20 p.m.NBC11Nov. 22at Eagles4:25 p.m.CBS12Nov. 27vs. Broncos3 p.m.Prime Video13Dec. 6vs. Texans8:20 p.m.NBC14Dec. 14at Jaguars8:15 p.m.ESPN15Dec. 20vs. Ravens1 p.m.CBS16TBDvs. PanthersTBDTBD17Jan. 3at Titans1 p.m.CBS18TBDat RavensTBDTBDPittsburgh Steelers preseason schedule 2026WeekDateOpponentKickoff time (ET)TV channelResult1Aug. 13vs. Packers7 p.m.KDKAW, 28-92Aug. 21vs. Jets7 p.m.KDKA3Aug. 27at Bills7 p.m.KDKAMore SteelersLatest SteelersnewsHow 'Renegade' became Steelers' pump-up songComplete history of Steelerschampionships

Cowboys eyeing former Eagles CB Adoree Jackson in free agency
While the Dallas Cowboys prepare to add Von Miller, their effort to strengthen the defense may extend to another player with NFC East experience.ESPNs Jeremy Fowler reports that Dallas has explored the free-agent cornerback market, with former Philadelphia Eagles starter Adoree Jackson emerging as a name to watch. Jackson spent the 2025 season in Philadelphia, where new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker served as defensive backs coach. Jackson reportedly has interest from multiple teams, so a deal with Dallas is not considered inevitable.Jackson appeared in 14 games and made 10 starts for the Eagles last season, finishing with 55 tackles, 11 passes defended and one interception. He provided outside coverage experience and demonstrated that he can still contribute when healthy. His familiarity with Parkers coverage system could reduce the adjustment period. Dallas already has DaRon Bland, Cobie Durant, Shavon Revel Jr. and Caelen Carson, but Jackson would bring veteran competition and insurance to a young group. In addition to Von Miller, the Cowboys have explored cornerback help via free agency. One name to watch is Adoree Jackson, who was with DC Christian Parker in Philadelphia. Jackson has interest from a few teams, though. pic.twitter.com/zkoSjRcULk Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 17, 2026The potential addition would carry additional significance for Philadelphia. Jackson practiced against Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert last season and understands their tendencies. The Eagles are also familiar with Jacksons strengths and weaknesses, while Sean Mannions new offense should include concepts he did not regularly encounter last year.Philadelphia faces Dallas in Weeks 7 and 12, with the second matchup scheduled for Thanksgiving. Jackson would not transform the Cowboys defense on his own, but adding him after Miller would give Parker another experienced player who understands his expectations. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Cowboys eyeing former Eagles CB Adoree Jackson in free agency

Cowboys free agency rumors: Cornerback Adoree Jackson could be next after Von Miller
PHILADELPHIA, PA - JANUARY 11: Adoree' Jackson #8 of the Philadelphia Eagles exits the field after warmups prior to an NFL wild card playoff football game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field on January 11, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesThe Dallas Cowboys appear ready for action.About 30 minutes after news broke that veteran pass rusher Von Miller is expected to join the team, the Cowboys formally announced the news as well, it was reported by ESPN that Dallas is looking into cornerback help as well. Jeremy Fowler mentioned Adoree Jackson as the name to watch here. In addition to Von Miller, the Cowboys have explored cornerback help via free agency. One name to watch is Adoree Jackson, who was with DC Christian Parker in Philadelphia. Jackson has interest from a few teams, though. pic.twitter.com/zkoSjRcULk Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 17, 2026Jackson has a history with Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker from CPs time in Philadelphia. It is worth noting that Von Miller also worked on the same Denver Broncos defense as Parker in 2021, by the way. If the Cowboys have any weakness right now it is certainly at corner. Cobie Durant has been one of the stars of training camp, and Shavon Revel is coming along as well, but the team is going to need more bodies across the duration of the season.Whether it is Jackson or not it appears inevitable that Dallas will bring in someone at some point soon. It is fascinating to see how much authority they are giving Parker in that they are bringing in so many people who he has a past with.Do you trust that type of movement?

Angel Reeses Incident Involving Caitlin Clark Lands in Negative Spotlight During Dreams Overtime Thriller vs Fever
INDIANAPOLIS, IN JUNE 04: Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark 22 is guarded by Atlanta Dream center Angel Reese 5 on June 4, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. Photo by Brian Spurlock/Icon Sportswire WNBA, Basketball Damen, USA JUN 04 Atlanta Dream at Indiana Fever EDITORIAL USE ONLY Icon26060438 IMAGO/Icon SportswireThe rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese saw the latest outing go the Indiana Fevers way. However, despite the Atlanta Dream putting up a hard fight, the attention from fans was instead on a key sequence between the two stars, leading to them questioning officials. With about 4:10 remaining in the first quarter of the game between the Dream and Fever on August 16, Clark and Reese were in the paint as the Atlanta star positioned herself to rebound the ball. Upon resistance from Clark, Reese appeared to make contact with Clark and shove her away, but when Clark turned to the refs for a foul call, no whistle sounded.Clips of the incident quickly went viral, spreading all over social media as fans flooded in to comment on the incident. One such post from@BrickCenter_ on X earned over 344,000 views, showing just how controversial the sequence was. However, what made the moment more interesting was the eventual outcome of the game, with the Fever winning 95-91.Clark ultimately led the Fever with 26 points and nine assists, but Angel Reese struggled, finishing with 15 points on 5-for-16 shooting, including an 0-for-6 start, but was still effective with 14 rebounds.Every Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese matchup brings the intensity. Subscribe for more interesting stories.Ultimately, that was the downfall for the Dream, who ended up losing the game in overtime, following several missed late-game shots. Allisha Gray led them in scoring after tying a career-high 32 points in a losing effort. As the Dream lost, the on-court interaction between Caitlin Clark and Reese prompted fans to flood the comment section.WNBA Fans Upset Over Angel Reeses Physical Exchange With Caitlin ClarkThe reaction to the first-quarter exchange between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese was anything but positive. Though some fans thought that the battle for the board was a routine sequence, many saw the grab and shove from Reese as going beyond basketball.A lot of this stuff is media tryna find narratives but that def looked a little personal, one fan wrote, highlighting the overly physical nature of the play. Of course, the rivalry between Clark and Reese played into it as well.Another fan was convinced that the interaction warranted a foul, but accepted that it would be the best outcome, writing, Yeah, this is not ideal, but it was so quick its not like Reese was strangling her. At best, its a common foul; at worst, it was as it was (a no-call).Many saw Reese as responsible for the hard contact, and did not mince words when describing the play. One such comment read, If shes not grabbing her own rebounds shes really a player and a dirty player, while another was a harsh label applied to her, reading, Angel still playing dirty! Some fans also focused on the decision from the refs not to call a foul. Notably, the sequence took place right in front of two officials, but neither blew their whistle, and fans quickly took notice.Normal. Ref looking directly at her ignores it!!!! Ridiculous, one such fan posted. However, one reaction highlighted an intriguing reason as to why the sequence might have carried some extra frustration from Reese. Just a few moments ago, at about 5:36 in the first, Clark had hit a deep three off the dribble despite being contested by Reese, leading a fan to conclude, Probably because Caitlin Clark cook her earlier in the game.Regardless of how the game turned out for each side, the matchup showed just why every battle between Reese and Clark is going to receive far more scrutiny than just one grabbing a rebound over the other.Trending ArticlesNBC Shares Health Update as NFL Host Faints Live on Air Leaving Him Needing StitchesBrian Schottenheimer Lashes Out as Cowboys Commit Too Many Penalties Against SeahawksAn Abomination: Golf Fans Rip Into CBS As Poor St. Jude Championship Coverage Sparks FuryIndiana Fever Provide Caitlin Clark Update After Fever Star Was Seen Limping During Game vs WingsHorrible Call: Fans Lash Out at Joe Rogan for Wrong Call as Mackenzie Dern Beats Gillian Robertson at UFC 330The post Angel Reeses Incident Involving Caitlin Clark Lands in Negative Spotlight During Dreams Overtime Thriller vs Fever appeared first on EssentiallySports. Rookie finally enters competition for 49ers final starting O-line spot
It took longer than the San Francisco 49ers might have liked, but it appears rookie offensive lineman Carver Willis has officially entered the battle for the starting left guard spot. Willis got reps with the first team during Saturday's practice, and was once again with the top group Sunday as the team searches for answers at the fifth and final spot on its starting offensive line. Offensive line coach Chris Foerster noted earlier in camp that Willis was supposed to be rotated in until he suffered a concussion that cost him valuable practice time. Fortunately for Willis, there hasn't been a breakout star in the LG competition so the window for him to get into the race stayed open. Veteran Robert Jones quickly took over at left guard with the first team after second-year OL Connor Colby started camp there. Jones hasn't done enough to cement himself as the starter which left the 49ers looking for other options. While Willis wasn't among the frontrunners to start camp, it isn't outrageous to consider that the rookie fifth-round pick could come out on top. Despite playing offensive tackle during his college career his measurables had draft analysts projecting him to play guard or center in the NFL. Willis told reporters after he was selected by the 49ers on Day 3 of this year's draft that every team he spoke with before the draft talked to him about playing along the interior. Willis was also very good in the team's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. Pro Football Focus gave him the best grade among 49ers offensive players who played at least 10 snaps. He didn't start Thursday's game, but he did play 33 snaps. That showing certainly played a role in his elevation to the first-team offense in the ensuing practices.Ideally one of Colby or Jones would have performed well enough to rule out any real competition from a rookie making a position change. Alas, they'll enter the second week of the preseason with no answers at that spot and no real frontrunner. Willis wasn't in the mix as of the team's first preseason game, but leading up to their joint practice and preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers the rookie will have a chance to take a firm grip on a starting job.More 49ers: List of 49ers players missing practice or exiting early balloons to 21This article originally appeared on Niners Wire: Rookie finally enters competition for 49ers final starting O-line spot
