Wisconsin's freshman goaltender eyes program history vs. Denver
After picking up his 21st win of the season, Wisconsin Badgers goaltender Daniel Hauser has a chance to make program history against Denver. It's a bit unusual to see a 22-year-old freshman, but this is still Hauser's first year with the Badgers. In his first year at the collegiate level, he helped guide this team to the national title game, a game they hadn't appeared in since 2010.Hauser allowed just one empty net goal against North Dakota, but other than that, he looked flawless against the No. 2-ranked team. Hauser's magic number was 21, as that's how many saves he recorded and is the number of games he's won this season.Twenty-one wins ties Dean Anderson (1984-85) and Curtis Joseph (1988-89) for the most in a single season by a freshman. Should Wisconsin take home the National Championship, he'll pick up his 22nd win and be alone in the record books.Eli Pulver is the Badgers' backup goalie, but he's played just 506:26 compared to Hauser's 1774:17. Even though he has only one day to rest, Mike Hastings has been given no reason to start Pulver over Hauser in the winner-take-all game.Contact/Follow@TheBadgersWireon X (formerly Twitter) and like our page onFacebookto follow ongoing coverage of Wisconsin Badgers news, notes and opinion. This article originally appeared on Badgers Wire: Wisconsin Badgers Daniel Hauser program history vs. Denver Frozen Four
