Lorenzo Styles Jr. believes he could beat 4.27 40-yard dash time
One of the notable things that the New Orleans Saints tend to look at for prospects is their athletic testing, as it feels like for many of their selections, they have high Relative Athletic Scores. This was the case once again in 2026, especially when it came to fifth-round pick Lorenzo Styles Jr. from Ohio State, who ran a blazing 4.27 40-yard dash at the combine. It is worth noting that he was injured during this as well, with a labrum issue that forced him to have surgery this spring. This impacted his running form as he likely was not fully able to extend his shoulder through the swing motion, and he noted this following his draft selection. Styles said he would have been low 4.2 if he could have used his regular form for his 40. https://t.co/axs4Y1dDXF Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) April 25, 2026Odds are, this would be the case, as arms do play a vital role in any of the running events, especially with the follow-through. Styles Jr. ran plenty fast enough, though, showcasing just how rapid he is in a straight line, and what he can bring on the field with play speed as well. He will be an intriguing watch during camp, as he continues to work his way back from that injury and prepares himself for preseason games.
