Golf: Bulldogs place eighth at Whiteland Invitational
The Legends Golf Course in Franklin was the host of the 20-team Whiteland Invitational Saturday. Batesville finished eighth as a team. Rushville fired a season-best team score in the event.Center Grove Red led the way with a 289. Franklin Blue was next with 313. New Palestine placed third with 316 followed by Center Grove Black (316), Speedway (316), Franklin Black (319), Perry Meridian (322), Batesville (324), Connersville (327), Scottsburg (331), Zionsville (337), Whiteland (337), Trinity Lutheran (350), Greenfield-Central (360), Greenwood Christian (360), Southport (360), Decatur Central (360), Lawrence North (373), Rushville (392) and Austin (410).Batesville senior Jon Moody earns third place individually with a 73 (+1).Ian Hixson was next for the Bulldogs with 80. Landon Raver was a shot back with 81. Caleb Laker finished with 90 and Cooper Phebus carded a 94.Ryder Flannery led the way for the Lions with a personal best 82. Tressler Owens finished with 101. Kanyon Sparks had a personal best 103. Landon Cain had a 106 and Kyle Jacobs shot a 112.RushvilleFriday, the Rushville Lions golf team competed in a 3-way match at Arbor Crossing Golf Course against Connersville and East Central. East Central came away with the win with 161. Connersville took second with 171 and Rushville finished with 202.The Lions were led by Ryder Flannery with a 44. Tressler Owens and Landon Cain who both carded 52. Gavin Owen shot a 54 and Kanyon Sparks rounded out the varsity with a 59.For the junior varsity, Maverick Wolf led the way with a 53. Madden Meek shot 54. Eli Newhouse and Garret Ray both finished with 58.
