Celtic deliver extra-time win to reach Scottish Cup finalScottish Cup semi-finalSaturday, May 2, 2026Hampden Park, GlasgowCELTIC3(Noonan 26, Gallacher 90+2, McGregor 105GLASGOW CITY2(Motlhalo 85, Gray 120)Celtic reached the Scottish Cup final with a 3-2 extra-time victory over Glasgow City at Hampden.It was a performance full of determination and character from a Hoops side which had played 45 minutes of their midweek league match against City with 10 players.It was Glasgow City who started the match more strongly, and Celtic were forced to scramble toe ball clear after an early attack.On 12 minutes, Adelaide Gay was forced into a save, tipping a Lisa Evans shot from the edge of the area over the bar. And from the resulting corner, Tara OHanlon did well to block an Emily Whelan shot form six yards out.Five minutes later, City were again on the attack again, this time down the right flank, but the Celtic defence did well to clear the danger when the ball was delivered into the box.Indeed, it wasnt until the 25th minute that Celtic had their first clear chance, with Saoirse Noonan lifting the ball over the defence for Poppy Pritchard inside the area, but City cleared the ball out for a corner.And it was from the resulting set-piece that Celtic took the lead. Amy Gallacher delivered a corner into the box and Saoirse Noonan glanced the ball to the far post and into the net to give Grant Scotts side a 1-0 lead.The goal certainly gave Celtic a lift and they came right into the game, causing the city defence problems when they were on the attack.And just before the break Noonan and Pritchard combined again inside the area, but the latter cutting the ball back for the scorer of Celtics goal.However, this time, the City defence were able to block the Irish strikers effort and clear the danger.Not surprisingly, Glasgow City were on the front foot at the start of the second-half as they looked for an equaliser, and they were causing Celtic some problems down their left flank, although the Hoops dealt well with anything that came into the area.And on the hour mark, Amy Gallacher lifted a ball over the top of the City defence for Poppy Pritchard, but the keeper was able to slide out and gather the ball.With just over 20 minutes remaining, Celtic came agonisingly close to their second goal of the game.A long ball forward was headed on by Saoirse Noonan into the path of Hannah Luke, but she saw her powerful left-foot shot crash off the post and go behind.With 12 minutes remaining, City carved out a chance but Linda Motlhalos effort from a Hayley Lauder cross landed on the roof of the net.And Motlhalo came close again just a couple of minutes later, this time with a shot from 15 yards out that was heading goalwards before Chloe Craig headed it behind for a corner.But with five minutes to go, City finally grabbed an equaliser, and it was no surprise that Motlhalo got the goal. A corner to the back post was headed back across goal and the cushioned lay-off saw Motlhalo fire the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.With almost the last touch of the 90 minutes, Celtic nearly snatched the win when Saoirse Noonan got her head on to the end of an Amy Gallacher cross, but her effort hit the post and went agonisingly wide.But just 90 seconds into extra-time, Celtic did get their second goal and it was Amy Gallacher who fired home a low shot from the edge of the area after being set up by Saoirse Noonan to make it 2-1.Glasgow Citys best chance of a goal came right on the stroke of half-time in extra-time when Lisa Forrest was put through on goal, but as she tried to round Adelaide Gay, the Celtic keeper did well to gather the ball at her feet.And almost immediately, Celtic went up the park and scored to make it 3-1.
