Fans can buy Boise State's blue turf for NIL efforts, or spend $25,000 on fan cave
Boise State is replacing its iconic blue turf before the 2026 season after receiving a $1.5 million gift from an anonymous donor in October. While the new "Smurf Turf" will remain the program's signature color, the university saw an opportunity for fans to own their own piece of the blue field.Boise State made a variety of items available for purchase recently from the old blue turf, including a $25,000 fan cave makeover outfitted with 400 square feet of blue turf from Albertsons Stadium. A cutout of the 40-yard line was also sold for $4,000, while a cutout of "2" from the 20-yard line sold for $2,000 on CollectBSU.com, which supports the school's name, image and likeness efforts.REQUIRED READING: Expand CFP, dump conference title games? Coaches outline vision for college footballThe new turf at Boise State will have orange markers at the 2-yard line and the 11-yard line to honor former running back Ashton Jeanty and former quarterback Kellen Moore, the school's lone two Heisman Trophy finalists. The Broncos have replaced the turf numerous times in the past, in 1995, 2002, 2008, 2010 and 2019. Albertsons Stadium will also soon complete $65 million upgrades this summer, adding 1,600 seats and more premium seating options.Boise State has made a decent chunk of money from selling its famed blue turf.
