Their efforts culminated in a first-round exit in this year's NBA playoffs, but analyst and former Celtics champion Brian Scalabrine believes the moves will pay off in a big way."It is an absolute miracle that they got under the tax this year," Scalabrine said on NBC Boston's Celtics Talk. "It would be another miracle if we're good in the regular season and we are underneath the tax."We are loading up the slingshot to let it go."Scalabrine, like all Celtics fans, has supreme trust in general manager Brad Stevens. He also believes that the new owner, billionaire Bill Chisholm, is willing to spare no expense to see the Celtics succeed."If we stay under the tax for one more year," Scalabrine continued. "Then I know that Brad Stevens and Bill Chisholm and the Tatum-Brown situation -- whatever it is -- that's going to lead to one, if not two, championships."Stevens' expert moves throughout the 2025-26 season, which led to him winning his second NBA Executive of the Year award, have provided the team with unprecedented levels of financial flexibility next season."This is the first time there's ever been an Executive of the Year that saved 360 million dollars," Scalabrine continued. "What Brad did is setting you up for the future."Brian Scalabrine on the Celtics' approach for this offseason:"If we stay under the tax for one more year, then I know that Brad Stevens, Bill Chisholm, and the Tatum-Brown situation is going to lead at least one, if not two, championships." @NBCSBoston on TikTok pic.twitter.com/XG0qiIH4BF SleeperCeltics (@SleeperCeltics) May 22, 2026More NBA: Podcast Host Reveals Who's To Blame For Starting Jaylen Brown Controversy
