Fans trying to decipher cryptic Jaylen Brown post; is it about Giannis?
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown will always speak his mind. So when he dropped a cryptic Tweet on Thursday morning, some fans took it as a reaction to what's been swirling around him this summer: trade rumors.Since the C's exited the first round of the playoffs in disappointing fashion following a Game 7 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, social media has been fraught with reports (which seem to change by the day) that Boston might be interested in trading for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Landing the two-time MVP would presumably force the Celtics to deal one of their franchise cornerstones, with many online commentators offering up Brown the longest-tenured player for the Green Team. With this context in mind and a recent report from NBA pundit Bill Simmons claiming the Celtics are still "in on Giannis," Brown's latest Tweet might not be coincidental."The neighbors rice always smells better," Brown posted. For those unfamiliar, this Cantonese idiom is a way of saying "the grass isn't always greener on the other side." The origin of this is important, as Brown has been traveling around China this past week and one could argue he's just sharing a new expression he learned. However, the timing of his post can't be ignored. Many high-profile NBA accounts boosted Simmons' intel a few hours prior to Brown's Tweet. If Brown saw those posts, perhaps his Tweet was an indirect response arguing that a trade isn't in the Celtics' best interests.Regardless of what Brown meant, the five-time All-Star and his star teammate, forward Jayson Tatum, are the core of the Celtics. Whether Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens opts to keep the dynamic duo together this summer remains to be seen, but it's worth noting that both stars are still under contract and haven't asked out of Boston.Listen to "Havlicek Stole the Pod" on:Blue Wire:https://tiny.ee/CdKpiTunes:https://tiny.ee/RK47YouTube:https://tiny.ee/cOW3This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Jaylen Brown drops cryptic post amid offseason trade rumors
