The BBC have issued a statement after editing footage of Ismael Kone's horror World Cup injury from their highlights programme following concerns over the distressing audio captured during the incident.Canada midfielder Kone suffered a serious leg break during his country's emphatic 6-0 victory over Qatar in Vancouver on Wednesday night after being caught by a late challenge from Assim Madibo.The 24-year-old immediately collapsed to the turf in agony, with players from both sides quickly realising the severity of the injury.Initial highlights uploaded to BBC iPlayer reportedly included the moment the injury occurred, with microphones around BC Place Stadium appearing to pick up the sound of Kone's leg breaking.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayThe broadcaster has since altered the clip, muting the audio while also ensuring no replay angles or close-up images of the Sassuolo midfielder in visible distress were shown.A BBC spokesperson told The Sun: "We edited the audio on iPlayer from the Canada vs Qatar World Cup game highlights programme due to the sensitivities around the injury to Ismael Kone."We took all the appropriate measures and did not broadcast any replays of the tackle or shots of the player in distress."We wish him a speedy recovery."Canada manager Jesse Marsch admitted after the match that the incident had left his squad shaken."You could hear the bone snap," he said."Your heart goes out to him.
