That Duke team went on to win the national championship. He was never a great NBA player, but Scalabrine played 11 years and was respected. He spent five seasons with the Boston Celtics, then rejoined the Celtics organization as a broadcaster after his retirement. He was the first notable person to recognize Cooper Flaggs talent, telling him that the only question about his potential was how hard he was willing to work to be great. Now, hes got some interesting comments on Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cameron Boozer, saying this on SiriusXM NBA Radios July 6 episode:Hes going to help the team win. Hes not just a glue guy; hes actually going to be a player you can go to in certain situations. Hes an excellent passer; hes not Joki, but he has the ball in his hands, and you cut, its a good chance youre going to get the ball.Thats certainly true. Hes not going to be Tim Duncan revisited, but he has a lot in common, most notably superb fundamentals. Hes the kid in camp who listened to every detail, then went home and perfected it all. Anyway, its interesting to hear Scalabrine weigh in on another Duke talent, who, by the way, was named ACC Male Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.
