Giants' ace Logan Webb deletes X account after bitter exchanges with reporter, fans
After a tough outing on Wednesday night, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Logan Webb took to social media. Now, hes deleted his account. The situation started on Wednesday after KNBRs Jack Loder posted a video on X reacting to the Giants 10-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Webb, who pitched seven innings, gave up five runs in the first inning thanks to a Kazuma Okamoto grand slam. The game started at 12:45, by 12:49 the game was over, Loder said, before turning to criticizing Webb directly. When someones supposed to be your ace, you think theyre gonna give you the best chance to win every week, Loder added. Ive said over the years, hes been a great Giant, like Ive really appreciated his Giant tenure, but theres always been a little bit lacking. I wish he was more of an ace, cause lord knows this team has needed him so many instances over the last few years. In the video, Loder mentioned that Webb might be searching his name on Twitter after the game which is never a great look.Loder, it turns out, was correct: Webb commented on the reporters video within the hour. You know whats sad is they allow people like you in the locker room, Webb wrote, according to screenshots from multiple outlets.Loder then quote-posted Webbs response on his timeline, saying If youre wondering where the Giants are at mentally after a 10-0 loss to fall to 16 games under .500.Webb then responded to that as well, quipping about how long it took Loder to respond, via SFGate. A reply from KNBR host Adam Copeland was met with a Who are you? from Webb.Webb then went on to respond to multiple fans in the comments. (It was a move reminiscent of former Bay Area star Kevin Durant.)The Logan Webb Files pic.twitter.com/oTT0a39qX2 EldridgeIsKing (@EldridgeIsKing) July 9, 2026Webb then deactivated his X account late Wednesday night. Posts from the account, including his original response to Loder, now reads: This Post is from an account that no longer exists. Its been a bit of a rough season for the Giants, who have been plagued by bleak losses and an odd Pride Night controversy. Wednesdays loss put San Francisco near the bottom of the NL West, with one of the worst records in the league. Webb, who made the National Leagues All-Star roster in a competitive field, has been one of the few bright spots, but his production is down from previous seasons.Whether Webb likes it or not, San Francisco has been a team worthy of criticism: Even in Wednesdays game, where the Giants nearly got no-hit by Dylan Cease and the bullpen let in five runs in the final two innings, the larger issues have been obvious. The Giants start a four-game series against the Rockies on Thursday, with the hopes of turning things around slightly before theyre past a point of no return.
