Texas A&M baseball just received massive news regarding the return of an elite right-handed pitcher for his senior season in Bryan-College Station. After being selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 19th round of the 2026 MLB Draft, Clayton Freshcorn has decided to return to Aggieland in 2027. Freshcorn solidified his status as one of the most dangerous closers in college baseball last season, recording a 2.82 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 54.1 innings.The huge announcement comes as head coach Michael Earley looks to rebuild a lackluster bullpen from last year. He also finished as a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, which is one of college baseball's top honors for relief pitchers.Freshcorn has spent two years with the program after transferring from McLennan College, notching 15 total saves, a 3.43 career ERA, and 89 total strikeouts.
