The start of training camp is arriving soon for Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers. Players start reporting on Monday July 27, and the first practice is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29.Ray Nitschke Field -- the setting of Packers training camp -- is the perfect proving ground. Who will arrive back in Green Bay and provide a summer surprise for the Packers ahead of the 2026 season?Here are some players we're most excited to watch during Packers training camp:LT Jordan MorganTraining camp will provide a first-time look at Morgan as the offense's full-time left tackle. The importance of his opportunity cannot be overstated. Morgan, who played almost 2,500 snaps at left tackle in college, will take over a premier position for a team with big aspirations in 2026. If he falters, or struggles to replicate even the inconsistent version of 2025 Rasheed Walker, the Packers offensive line could take another step back. Getting a strong summer from Morgan would be nothing if not reassuring. He's one of many young players expected to take over big roles and thrive for the 2026 Packers, and arguably the most important. -- Zach KruseRB MarShawn LloydLloyd has been hit harder by injuries than any Packers draft pick in recent memory. Ability doesn't appear to be the issue for the 2024 third-round pick, but availability has been, as he's played just 10 offensive snaps in one regular-season appearance. Lloyd has put in extensive work this offseason to try and put the soft-tissue injuries behind him, but theres no way to predict how his body will react when he starts taking hits consistently. One area where Lloyd isn't lacking is potential. The last time he was healthy, he averaged 7.1 yards per carry and 17.8 yards per catch in his final season at USC. With the RB2 job up for grabs, I'm excited to see if Lloyd can stay on the field and if his dynamic skillset can finally flourish in Matt LaFleurs offense.-- Brandon CarwileWR Matthew GoldenThe Packers opened up the door to more playing time for Golden by moving on from Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. He showed the qualities that made him a first-round pick as a rookie, but did not get enough snaps or targets to put up the kind of production he would've hoped for. Now he has the chance to grasp his opportunity in year two, and with more experience in the offense, he should have more trust from the coaching staff. It could be an exciting summer if Golden shows signs of a breakout season during training camp. -- Mark OldacresCB Brandon CisseThe Packers' top draft pick doesn't have a guaranteed path to playing time as a rookie, but there's no reason why Cisse can't earn snaps right away with a strong performance at training camp. Expect the Packers to give the 21-year-old plenty of opportunities to prove his place by covering Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed during the 1-on-1 and 11-on-11 sessions of training camp. Can Cisse prove capable of being an instant impact rookie? The Packers could use a lift at corner, and their rookie has an electrifying blend of quickness and competitive playstyle. For the first time since the early Jaire Alexander era, the Packers have a truly exciting player arriving at corner. -- Zach KruseK Trey SmackThe Packers thought they had a long-term answer at kicker in Brandon McManus. But just one year after signing the veteran to a new deal, the Packers are now transitioning to a new era, with Smack -- a sixth-round pick -- the favorite to win the kicking job entering training camp. Expect a rollercoaster ride. Smack had good days and bad days during the offseason workout program, and rookie specialists are generally inconsistent early on. Just two summers after tracking the day to day kicking numbers of Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph, Packers fans will once again be tallying the daily makes and misses of a young kicker competing for the important point-scoring job. Hang on tight. The "excitement" of monitoring Smack's summer will be tinged with nervous anticipation. -- Zach KruseC Sean RhyanThe Packers will have a new center at training camp for the third time in three years. Next in line is Rhyan, who played tackle in college, transitioned into a starting role at guard to begin his NFL career and is now taking over at center to start 2026. He looked increasingly capable at the position after taking over for an injured Elgton Jenkins midway through last season, and the Packers rewarded him with a new three-year deal. Can Rhyan hit the ground running at the pivot point of the offensive line? Getting more and more comfortable with everything required of the position -- making pre-snap checks, snapping the football and the different blocking angles post-snap -- will be a priority this summer. The Packers need Rhyan to help power improvement along the offensive line. Any stumbles during training camp, and an intriguing rookie -- fifth-rounder Jager Burton -- could come job hunting. -- Zach KruseTE Luke MusgraveThe Packers will likely ease Tucker Kraft (ACL) back into action during training camp. That expected reality aligns nicely for Musgrave, who is entering an important fourth (and possibly final?) season in Green Bay. Since losing the starting job to Kraft, Musgrave has been mostly a non-factor, and he failed to seize the opportunity afforded by Kraft's injury to end 2025. Can the 2023 second-round pick finally make the leap? The Packers offense could be menacingly diverse if Musgrave finally emerges as a consistent weapon. Sometimes tight ends just need more time to get established at the pro level, but hourglass is running out on Musgrave. He must impress this summer or risk becoming an afterthought. -- Zach KruseWR J. Michael SturdivantAn annual summer tradition: a young wide receiver making waves at training camp. Sturdivant is a prime candidate to be the standout receiver at Packers training camp. Many believed Sturdivant would be drafted, but he instead became a priority undrafted free agent signing in Green Bay. His combination of size (6-3, 207), speed (4.4) and ability to spread the field vertically, make tough catches on in-breakers and compete for contested balls give him a real chance to make a run at a 53-man roster spot. Sturdivant could end up being a favorite target of Tyrod Taylor, Kyle McCord and Kyron Drones this summer. -- Zach KruseEdge rusher Barryn SorrellWho is going to make the second-year leap among the 2025 draftees? Matthew Golden and Anthony Belton are obvious candidates, but don't forget about Sorrell, who showed flashes as a rookie and will now enter his second training camp with a big opportunity awaiting at edge rusher. Gone are Rashan Gary and Kingsley Enagbare, and Micah Parsons will be out throughout training camp. The pathway is cleared for Sorrell to be an important contributor right away in 2026. Training camp will tell us if the former Texas Longhorn is ready to take advantage. -- Zach KruseQB Jordan LoveAny list of "excited to watch" players would be incomplete without the team's most important player. Love is entering his seventh NFL season and fourth season as the Packers starting quarterback. He's in the prime of his career. He returns the playcaller he's had his entire career, and he has a talented stable of pass-catching targets. Is this the season it all comes together? Love was just entering the MVP discussion when the Packers season fell apart last December. Recovering from that tailspin -- and thriving while Micah Parsons is out early in the season -- will require the team's most important players to be at their best in 2026. By any efficiency metric, Love was among the NFL's 10 best quarterbacks last season. Now it's time for him to prove he truly belongs in that tier with a full season of excellent play. As is the case every year, the foundation is built during training camp.
