TBT: Boeheims Army falls short in quarterfinals versus Kentucky alumni

July 26, 2026 | Scott Utterback/Courier Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn ImagesThe band of former Syracuse Orange alumni and company is officially out of the 2026 TBT.Boeheims Army lost 70-66 to La Familia, the alumni team for the Kentucky Wildcats, in the single-elimination quarterfinal round of the TBT.Boeheims Army trailed by six points after the first quarter, then rallied over the next two to take a lead heading into the fourth. La Familia executed late, outscoring Boeheims Army 12-5 during the Elam ending portion of the game.With the score at 68-66 in favor of La Familia, it was Kahlil Whitney who would put down the game-winning putback dunk that sent Boeheims Army home.KAHLIL WHITNEY JUST DUNKED IT FOR THE WIN!!!OMG HE'S ENTERED LEGEND STATUS AT MEMORIAL COLISEUMTHE BUILDING IS SHAKING!!!! pic.twitter.com/Ag9sC3RjQx TBT (@thetournament) July 26, 2026Ty Nichols led the way for Boeheims Army with 24 points on 9/15 shooting off the bench. Elijah Hughes (16 points) and Buddy Boeheim (14 points) were the only other two players in double figures.La Familias roster featured plenty of familiar college basketball names, including Willie Cauley-Stein, Andrew Harrison, and Archie Goodwin. Goodwin would be the star for the Kentucky alum, ending the quarterfinal matchup with a game-high 30 points.Not the result we wanted, but were incredibly grateful for all of the support this summer. The group won its first and only TBT back in 2021.
