Detroit Leave it to the president to get the party started during Rocket Classic week.Keith Hazely, the president of Detroit Golf Club, scored the first hole-in-one since the renovation of the Rocket Classic's North Course during Wednesday's pro-am tournament.Hazely aced the par-3 15th hole, which was played about 110 yards. He used a sand wedge. The ball took a bounce forward past the cup and spun back into the hole.It was Hazely's first hole-in-one, and what a setting to notch it. He was playing with five-time PGA Tour winner Chris Gottrep, the No. 7-ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings, and three other Detroit Golf Club members."Making my first-ever hole-in-one during the Rocket Classic pro-am, and the first on the new North Course, was an unforgettable moment," said Hazely, 39, of Bloomfield Hills. "It's a memory I'll treasure forever."And Detroit, the beer's on me!"The eighth and final Rocket Classic got under way Thursday at Detroit Golf Club, which underwent a $16.1 million renovation. The North Course project started last June, and the course opened to members earlier this month.There hasn't been a hole-in-one at DGC during the Rocket Classic since 2024. There have been nine aces during the Rocket Classic, including three at the 15th hole.
