Barcelona president Joan Laporta returns home after successful medical operation

Doctors used a defibrillation procedure, essentially using controlled electrical impulses to shock his heart back into a normal rhythm.Afterwards, he had to take a few days off to recover. On Friday, hes been officially cleared to return to work.Laporta celebrated on Instagram: Ive been discharged! Heading home!The president thanked the Hospital de Barcelona, including the Emergency, ICU, Laboratory, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Radiology, and Endoscopy departments and several specific doctors by name.He also took a second to highlight the sponsorship agreement between the club and Assistncia Sanitria, a medical insurance company, which guarantees medical care for all Barcelona players.Laporta missed a board meeting and the trip to St. Georges Park in Staffordshire, England, where Barcelona did preseason work ahead of a match against Birmingham City. Laporta caught that game on TV.
