Broncos coach Sean Payton pleased with Bo Nix's return from injury
He's back. The Denver Broncos started ramping up for training camp with a light acclimation practice on Wednesday, and quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) participated in full-team drills for the first time he broke his ankle in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs in January. Nix previously participated in 7-on-7 and individual drills this spring, but Wednesday's session marked the first time he did full-team work.Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked after the practice about the "next step" for Nix entering Year 3.The next step is kind of clich," Payton said. "He just finished winning 14 games and having a really good season. Do I think hes going to continue to improve? Yes. Im pleased with the shape hes in. The timeline relative to everything weve discussed injury-wise is falling into place. Its good to have him back out there in the team periods. "I think there are certain areas for us offensively that can help with the quarterback, a consistent run game throughout the year. There are some things that we can do to help him, so were off and getting started.Denver made a big splash this spring when they brought in star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who will likely emerge as one of Nix's favorite targets this season. Waddle has already started turning heads at practice, and he could prove to be a huge part of the offense this fall. With Nix healthy and Waddle added to the mix, Denver's offense certainly seems to be trending up going into the 2026 campaign.
