The Undertaker reveals theres one man to blame for WWE fans never seeing him face Sting
Photo by Cooper Neill/WWE via Getty ImagesFor years, the idea of WWEs The Undertaker and WCW legend Sting going head to head was most fans idea of a dream match.Undertaker real name Mark Calaway had remained loyal to Vince McMahon and WWE throughout a number of testing years. On the other side of the coin, Sting real name Steven Borden had done the same with WCW before its eventual implosion in 2001.Naturally, Sting ended up on WWE television and made his debut at Survivor Series in 2014 and went on to feud with Triple H.Nevertheless, there was never any sign of Sting taking on Taker and according to Calaway himself, it was nothing to do with him as to why it never happened.Photo by Gilbert Carrasquillo/Getty ImagesThe Undertaker blames Vince McMahon for never booking him to face StingGiven Stings run ended up being a bit underwhelming anyway, it does seem bizarre that Vince didnt give this match at least a chance.Indeed, it could have even been done without any build up and would have sold tickets based purely off reputation.Still, Calaway revealed in his latest podcast episode that it was all down to McMahon not wanting it.Yeah obviously, the people had already been clamoring for that match for a long time, and it seems like a no-brainer. Why on earth would you not do that, he revealed. But for whatever reason, Vince did not see it, didnt like it, didnt want it. And I was like, this is a home run. This is an easy main event for a pay-per-view. But I dont really have an answer. I never really had an in-depth conversation with Vince about why he didnt want to do it.My goodness, a Sting vs. Undertaker? Again, he obviously knows more about business than I do, but that one just seems like a home run. They decided to walk the guy instead of pitching it to him? I dont know what happened there. I mean, I dont have any regrets. It wasnt my decision. But, my goodness, I would have loved to have been able to have that match. I guess it just wasnt meant to be.What Undertaker told Sting about their failed match upClearly, both Sting and Taker would have taken this match and ran with it.Nevertheless, there was never any bad blood between the experienced duo as Taker revealed they talked it out over a flight.I remember running into Sting. I think it was after the WrestleMania that we didnt work. I remember we were on the same plane together talking. I was like, I dont know. Like, this is beyond me. I dont know. I dont know why. But it is what it is, man, I guess.Yeah, I think Sting, thats probably got to be the biggest miss of a WrestleMania. Those two characters, that would have done some incredible business. Sorry, I dont know. It wasnt me!Unfortunately for WWE fans, this was one we just never got to see and never will. Its a grand shame really and somewhere, McMahon must regret not booking it.READ MORE: https://www.hitc.com/the-expected-winner-of-roman-reigns-and-seth-rollins-at-wwe-summerslam-has-been-revealed/
