His rookie season began much later than Pearsall and the Niners would have hoped. Gunshot injuries will do that.Almost two years ago, on Aug. 31, 2024, in San Francisco, a teenager tried to steal Pearsall's Rolex watch and, in the struggle, both suffered gunshot wounds.Pearsall was as fortunate as a shooting victim can be. The bullet missed all the key organs and exited through his back. Pearsall was released from the hospital the following day.He missed the team's first six games, but played in 11 contests that season. Pearsall's best game was a Week 17 loss to the Detroit Lions when he pulled in eight passes for 141 yards with a touchdown.Pearsall played in nine games last season, collecting more than 100 yards receiving in two of those, but suffered an injury to his left knee in a September game against Jacksonville that kept him out until Week 11 and never seemed to go away.With further troubles during training camp, 49ers general manager John Lynch announced on Saturday, Aug. 1, that the team has placed Pearsall on season-ending injured reserve.
