JENNERSTOWN A duo of Somerset County drivers earned wins, while two other competitors saw victory lane for the first time in years, Saturday, Aug. 1 at Jennerstown Speedway.The night kicked off with a dandy in the Somerset Trust Fast 4s. Bradley Marsh raced between the leaders and took the advantage at the green flag. He led the first five laps of the 15-lap feature, but Seth Nedrow dashed past Marsh for the lead with nine to go.The two battled, sometimes door-to-door, down the stretch. A week after suffering a bad crash right before taking the checkered flag, Nedrow exacted some revenge with his third win of the season. Burkholder finished second and Carley Awtey grabbed third.For the second straight week and fourth time this season, Boswell's Doug Glessner visited victory lane in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified division.Gleasner passed Anthony Aiello just eight laps into the 20-lap, seven-car feature. Glessner has won four of the last five in the division, narrowing the points gap between him, Aiello and division leader, John Fama, who finished third.Mike Sweeney won for the second time this season in a thrilling Martella's Pharmacies Late Model 30-lap feature.Jenners driver Barry Awtey passed Will Hemminger two laps into the race and had a significant lead. In the latter stages of the race, things tightened in a hurry. Awtey, veteran Garry Wiltrout and Sweeney were three wide at the stripe with seven to go. Two laps later, Sweeney worked below Awtey and found himself leading the pack.Wiltrout and Awtey finished second and third, respectively.Defending Ron's Collison Center Street Stock champ, Casey Fleegle cruised to his third win of the season.The Friedens driver started on the front row and was no match for the six-car field. Fleegle has the most wins in the division, despite entering the night in fifth place.Rick Meehleib finished second and Teddy Gibala took third.In just his second One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock feature of the season, Jeff Giles collected a win. Following an opening night crash in his modified, Giles has since moved back to the Pro Stock division, where he last won in during the 2023 season. Giles checked out from the field early and held a lead of five seconds before a competition caution was called with just seven laps remaining in the 20-lap feature. Giles once again put distance between himself and the challengers to notch the win.Todd Price and Kyle Burkholder took second and third, respectively.Bill Awtey Tribute Night is slated for Saturday, Aug. 8.
