LeBron James to 76ers might lead to Celtics stealing Steph Curry from Warriors
Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesLeBron James decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers and snub the Golden State Warriors might cause a chain reaction that brings Stephen Curry to the Boston Celtics. The summer of 2026 has reshaped the NBA heading into next season. The 76ers kicked things off with an early trade for Jaylen Brown in a shocking move with the Celtics. That trade led to LeBron joining the 76ers as a free agent, snubbing the Warriors and others. With Golden States competitive hopes next to naught, a wild trade idea is forming. The Celtics might show interest in acquiring Stephen CurryWith the Warriors choosing not to trade for win-now players to protect their post-Curry future, many have questioned if Curry will retire on the Warriors like everyones been assuming. The Celtics could emerge as a leading destination for Curry to see out his career on a win-now franchise instead of seeing out his career on a non-Playoff Warriors team.Im not entirely confident in Curry being traded this season. It would be a bit of a shocking development if he did. Theres no doubt Brad Stevens has already been on the phone with the Warriors brass to pitch a deal if they want one.Photo by Adam Glanzman/Getty ImagesJames and Brown reinforcing the 76ers as a much better team on paper than the Celtics will make the franchise uncomfortable. However, a Curry trade might restore the balance of power between them.Curry averaged 26.6 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds last season and would be a terrific guard next to Jayson Tatum. The Celtics would likely trade Payton Pritchard and Paul George with another young player and multiple picks for the 38-year-old Curry. It might be a short-term bet, but there arent many stronger bets to have than Curry on your roster. The Warriors wont give up on the greatest player in franchise history that easily, but if the rumors of team owner Joe Lacob wanting to build the next iteration of this team, trading Curry for assets to a win-now team of his choice would be the best send-off.Read more:New York Governor Kathy Hochuls office brutally calls out Kyle Kuzma over Kalshi criticismShaquille ONeal makes explosive claim about Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles Lakers fansI aint got no money When LeBron James set the record straight on rumoured $1.2 billion net worth
