New Mexico State announced on Monday, Aug. 3 that Jaime Christian has been hired as the Aggies' new running back coach. He was most recently Oregon State's special teams coordinator from 2024-25 and New Mexico's special teams coordinator from 2020-23. He was also the Lobos' running backs coach in 2022.Christian is familiar with Sanchez, having been UNLV's running backs coach during the first two seasons of Sanchez's tenure there from 2015-16. The Rebels rushed for 241.5 yards per game in 2016, which ranked 15th in the country and was UNLV's highest average since 1979.Christian has spent some of this offseason with the Aggies in an analyst role, which has allowed for his quick transition to being the team's new running backs coach."We're excited to welcome Coach Christian to NM State," Sanchezsaid in a press release. While he the running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Fresno State from 2017-19, he helped the Bulldogs rushed for over 2,184 yards in 2017, 2,169 yards in 2018 and a Mountain West Conference-best 27 touchdowns in 2019.Christian has also coached running backs at Houston, Idaho and Sacramento State in the past. He also has NFL experience as a defensive quality control coach with the San Francisco 49ers from 2003-24.
