Astros Trade SP Spencer Arrigetti to Blue Jays for CF Daulton Varsho

The announcement was made by Astros General ManagerDana Brown.Varsho, 30, has hit .243 (81333) with 19 doubles, seven home runs and 26 RBI in 99 games for the Blue Jays this season. The left-handed hitting Varsho has appeared exclusively in center field in 2026 and is a former Gold Glove winner at the position, winning the award for the Blue Jays in 2024. Varsho has played in parts of seven Major League seasons with the Diamondbacks (2020-22) and Blue Jays (2023-26), appearing in 747 career Major League games. Varsho is coming off a 2025 season in which he posted a career-high .825 OPS while belting 20 home runs in 71 games with the Blue Jays. He also has 20 games of postseason experience, starting all 18 games of the Blue Jays World Series run in 2025.Arrighetti, 26, has gone 7-5 with a 4.60 ERA (45ER/88IP) in 17 starts with the Astros this season. He is currently on the 15-day Injured List due to right foot nerve irritation. He has pitched in parts of three Major League seasons with the Astros (2024-26) and has gone 15-23 with a 4.66 ERA (139ER/268.1IP) through 53 games (52 starts) in his Major League career. The Astros selected Arrighetti in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft from the University of Louisiana.
