The Milwaukee Brewers did not acquire Codi Heuer for him to pitch for the team, it turns out.Two days after acquiring Heuer as part of a trade with the Cleveland Guardians, the Brewers redirected the right-hander to the Baltimore Orioles for cash leading up to the trade deadline Aug. 3. The Brewers sent reliever Craig Yoho and outfielder Blake Perkins to Cleveland for Heuer and catcher Bo Naylor the morning of Aug. 1.The short-lived stay for Heuer hammers home that adding to their catching depth was the key to the trade for Milwaukee, which in the process parted with a young, raw reliever a beloved outfielder who had fallen out of playing time. Naylor, 26, is currently at Class AAA Nashville and is a career .199 hitter with a .651 OPS in the majors. He struggled in 28 games with Cleveland this year, batting .143 with a .438 OPS.
