Lerryan Douglas isn't ranked yet but it sounds like he's close.His second UFC fight will take place Aug. 22, but Douglas (14-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is already being viewed by the promotion as a worthy opponent for top-tier talent. After a scintillating sub-four-minute knockout debut vs. Julian Erosa in March, Douglas recently told MMA Junkie Radio he was offered two ranked opponents."I don't think I'm supposed to be saying stuff like that, but I already got offered two ranked fighters and they didn't work out because they weren't clear medically," Douglas said. "I said yes to both of them, and one of them was short notice. That's what I'm saying. I'm always ready. Whenever the UFC wants to give me an opportunity, I'll be ready to go. ... I know they're happy with me."How can Sean Shelby not be happy? Douglas has brought the violence consistently, as he ended his six most recent bouts with strikes. He has the chance to make it seven-for-seven when he faces Jamall Emmers at UFC Fight Night 285 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif.Emmers (22-8 MMA, 5-4 UFC) is a seasoned veteran with 14 years of professional experience under his belt. At 37, Emmers hasn't shown signs of slowing down, though, coming off back-to-back victories over Gabriel Miranda and Hyder Amil. Despite the difficulty of the assignment, Douglas thinks he has enough tools in his toolset to get the job done."I've learned to be patient, take my time, and everything is just numbers," Douglas said. "All these guys are just ranked No. 7, No. 10, or whatever, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm going to have to fight you. You've just got to stay locked in, stay focused, and don't let the other outside stuff get in your mind.
