Jonathan Taylor compared Colts' rookie to 1,000-yard running back
Indianapolis Colts' rookie running back Seth McGowan was recently compared to a former 1,000-yard rusher by one of his teammates.Following Tuesday's training camp practice, Jonathan Taylor was asked about McGowen's running style. While McGowan is known for the physical presence he adds to the Colts' backfield, Taylor noted the rookie's footwork, which reminds him of current Texans back David Montgomery."Seth, everybody thinks he's just like a big powerback, but Seth has some moves," said Taylor. "If you look at his feet, he reminds me of like David Montgomery. Like at first, I know when David was in Chicago, real ballers knew like, hey, he's not just a power back. He has great feet, great vision. I'm like, Seth has great feet. So that's very -- it's going to be interesting when we're in full live and not just practice situations, like how he can put his skills on display."Montgomery has carved out a very productive career, which includes surpassing the 1,000-yard mark twice in seven NFL seasons. He's rushed for at least 700 yards every year and has hit double-digit touchdowns twice.McGowan averaged 3.22 yards after contact in college, highlighting his ability to stay on his feet, make defenders miss, and pick up extra yards. In 2025, he ranked 42nd among running backs, generating 35 missed tackles. McGowan is competing with DJ Giddens for the backup running back role. Following Tuesday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan wrote that he continues to be "impressed" by what McGowan is showing. This article originally appeared on Colts Wire: Jonathan Taylor compared Colts' rookie to 1,000-yard running back
