The date for the 2027 Preakness Stakes has been moved to the fourth Sunday of May. The original date was the third Saturday of the month.The 152nd Preakness Stakes will now be run on Sunday, May 23, 2027, at Pimlico Race Course. Preakness Eve will be moved to Saturday, May 22 following the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes card, which is normally held on Friday. The date shift gives all parties involved more time following the Kentucky Derby. It now gives a 22-day break after the first Triple Crown race, rather than 14 days."Moving the Preakness to the fourth weekend in May is a historic announcement," said Bill Knauf, president and general manager of the Maryland Jockey Club in a release. "We believe the Preakness and the entire Triple Crown series are positioned for growth and great success.
