Kirby Smart updates status of seriously injured Georgia RB
The Georgia Bulldogs were hoping to get big things out of Kentucky Wildcats transfer running back Dante Dowdell this fall. However, Dowdell was involved in a serious ATV accident this offseason after having an impressive spring with Georgia. In the accident, Dowdell sustained significant injuries and was hospitalized. Georgia coach Kirby Smart provided an update on Dowdell as Georgia prepares to start fall camp. "Dante (Dowdell)'s doing better," Smart said. "He is not with us. We don't have a timeline for him, and that's going to happen. The most important thing for Dante is himself, and that he can do functions and do daily, in and out things, not really worried about football right now."Based on what Smart said, it would be surprising to see Dowdell play at all this season. The bruising running back is recovering from his injuries and is hoping to get back to regular daily life before he can consider a return to football. With Dowdell out, Georgia will rely on the likes of Nate Frazier, Chauncey Bowens, Bo Walker, Dwight Phillips and Jae Lamar at running back in fall camp.
