Caleb Rogers taking 1st team reps from JPJ 'part of the plan' for Raiders
Throughout the offseason and the first week of training camp, the right guard spot had been manned solely by Jackson Powers-Johnson. That was until the past couple days when the former second round pick began seeing some of those reps go to second-year guard Caleb Rogers. Its been the plan all along to get those guys competing and get guys mixed in there, see who our best five are," head coach Klint Kubiak said of Rogers's sudden first team reps. This comes a couple days after offensive line coach Rick Dennison said there would be no real changes on the line until after a couple games are played.Last season JPJ was the starting right guard to begin the season and when he was lost to injury in week ten, Rogers stepped in to start the rest of the season. So, in that regard, this seems to be playing out much like last season. JPJ has a lot to prove still and Rogers stepping up and playing well last season further put his starting job in on shaky ground. JPJ spoke openly about the anxiety he has felt and his efforts to alleviate it, including getting off social media almost entirely this offseason.Meanwhile Rogers is getting his shot to see what he can do alongside the other first team linemen. This article originally appeared on Raiders Wire: Caleb Rogers taking 1st team reps from JPJ 'part of the plan' for Raiders
