They acquired him from the Dallas Cowboys last year, but it never really gelled.Last season, Smith only played in three games. He also played just 25% of the defensive snaps when he was on the field. Those aren't exactly stats that scream, "Let's keep this guy for a long time.""The reality is that Smith was never a centerpiece of the Williams tradewhich netted New York a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-rounder," Knox states in the feature.He adds, "It's hard to envision Smith seeing a legitimate opportunity in 2026, let alone sticking around beyond the season."
