Well, we all know the Jets were 3-14 in their first season with Aaron Glenn as their head coach. That's not a great look, but these things can take time.Now, the Jets are in training camp. They're gearing up for what they hope is finally a comeback season. But, all the pieces may not be in place yet.New York is being encouraged to trade one of their roster pieces before the guys take the field in September. In return, they could get some good draft capital.New York Jets encouraged to part ways with $13 million player who simply isn't working outIn a feature out on Monday, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report encourages the Jets to trade defensive tackle Mazi Smith, who's on a deal worth around $13 million, according to research from Over the Cap. They acquired him from the Dallas Cowboys last year, but it never really gelled.Last season, Smith only played in three games. He also played just 25% of the defensive snaps when he was on the field. Those aren't exactly stats that scream, "Let's keep this guy for a long time.""The reality is that Smith was never a centerpiece of the Williams tradewhich netted New York a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 first-rounder," Knox states in the feature.He adds, "It's hard to envision Smith seeing a legitimate opportunity in 2026, let alone sticking around beyond the season."
