Los Angeles is looking to make an even deeper playoff run after falling short of its championship aspirations last season. The Lakers have been in full pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga for the last two months, but nothing has come to fruition. However, one positive development for Los Angeles is that the former NBA champion has reportedly shut down minimum-salary offers from other teams.Jonathan Kuminga is not willing to sign with any team on a one-year prove-it deal at the veterans minimum. The Kings and Timberwolves recently expressed interest in Kuminga, but the minimum salary made negotiations a no-go. The Lakers remain the favorites to acquire Kuminga, NBA reporter Evan Sidery posted. The Lakers have also shown interest in four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson. Los Angeles would have to trade for him as well, but Thompson is reportedly open to returning to the city where he spent part of his childhood. My understanding is that Thompson would welcome a return to Los Angeles, where he spent part of his childhood and still owns a home. The Miami Heat are another team frequently mentioned in NBA circles as a potential landing spot for the future Hall of Famer, The Athletics Christian Clark wrote.Los Angeles could potentially land both players in one blockbuster three-team deal. Heavy.coms Sai Mohan proposed a trade that would have the Lakers sending Dalton Knecht, Bronny James and several other pieces to acquire Kuminga and Thompson.Lakers would receive: Jonathan Kuminga, Klay Thompson. Mavericks would receive: Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, Jake LaRavia, Bronny James, 2033 second-round pick (via SAC), 2031 and 2032 second-round pick (via WAS) and 2033 second-round pick (via LAL). Hawks would receive: Jarred Vanderbilt, 2032 first-round pick swap (via LAL), Mohan wrote. The Lakers would be giving up several contracts they have reportedly been looking to move throughout the summer. In return, they would land two former Golden State Warriors champions who could immediately add significant talent to the roster.Kuminga and Thompson have made a combined $346 million throughout their careers. If the Lakers were somehow able to pull off this blockbuster, it could significantly reshape the Western Conference and give Los Angeles the pieces it needs to make a legitimate run at the NBA championship.More NBA news:Lakers still pursuing $46M ex-Warriors NBA champion to pair with Luka Doncic, Austin ReavesCavaliers may end pursuit of ex-Warriors Jonathan Kuminga, Peyton Watson for James HardenWarriors reportedly expected to give Steph Curry $136M contract extension before training campHeat predicted to trade for $298M generational shooter, 4-time NBA champion in 3-team mega deal
