Andy Reid reveals a new injury from the preseason loss to the Rams
The Kansas City Chiefs were unsuccessful in trying to end their preseason losing streak with Saturday's 20-12 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The loss raised concerns, as head coach Andy Reid told reporters that an offensive lineman went down with an injury during the game."As far as injuries go, it was just Chu Godrick had an ankle sprain," said Reid, "So, other than that, there were no other injuries."The reserve offensive lineman left the game with the injury as the Chiefs were unable to overcome the Rams at Arrowhead Stadium. Godrick, a product of the NFL's International Player Pathway program since 2022, signed with the Chiefs as part of their developmental plans. He spent the next few years on the practice squad before being called up to the active roster last season.T Chu Godrick is questionable to return with an ankle injury. pic.twitter.com/Bm2fTqshFQ Kansas City Chiefs (@Chiefs) August 15, 2026"It was good to get a preseason game under our belt and play against somebody else. There were some good things, and some things we need to clean up," said Reid. "Obviously, penalties would be the number one thing we need to clean up. But we're able to get a good look at some of our young guys, and I thought there was some real production there on both sides of the ball from the young guys."Another concern for both teams was the weather, as extremely hot temperatures opened the door to potential cramping and dehydration issues. Both were avoided, as Reid detailed the planning to prepare for extreme temperatures over 90 degrees on the field."We didn't have any cramps or any of that, so that was positive. Went through a lot of liquids, but we started with the camp that we've been in," said Reid. "We've been starting every day with making sure they were hydrated, and we just continued it into the game. So I think the hard work that the guys have done has paid off for them as far as their stamina during the game."Kansas City rested several players dealing with nagging injuries from training camp. The coaching staff will evaluate availability during the week ahead of preseason Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This article originally appeared on Chiefs Wire: Andy Reid reveals a new injury from the preseason loss to the Rams
